How to Overhaul Your Car's Trunk!

In this video, I completely overhaul the trunk of my 1969 Lincoln Continental on a budget. I took all the old carpet out and cleaned it really well. Then I painted it with some fabric paint. I also painted the inner dish of the trunk black since the car will eventually be black. I also re-created the side panel boards with cardboard. I also replaced the trunk weatherstripping and painted the ja...

Camera work and description of detail is excellent. While there is a little complexity getting down to the manifold for removal it's still way better than front wheel drives no doubt, the plastic retainers always break no matter how hard we try , great work sir !
Very good job, I'm also a Lincoln owner ( '06 ) and willing to bet the coolant is coming from intake . These are notorious for leakage after extended service. I was fortunate enough that my intake was replaced about a year before I purchased. You explain things in a very clear manner which is much appreciated, also love the way you take time to wipe your engine bay down as you work. Clean cars are happy cars !
I actually ended up having to replace the intake and just recently posted a video about that on this car
Price really isn't good considering that you use double the fuel when you run e85 so if anything actually ends up costing more also it's not the best for your engine it definitely creates other problems of its own but I will say if you're tuned right you make more horsepower lol
Which cable do i disconnect so my adjustable wont work? they move randomly when i recall a memory seating position and its really annoying, i always have them in the furthest back position.
While they are in the position you want, press set then 1 on the memory seat buttons. This will prevent the pedals from moving when your setting is choosen. If you must remove the cable it's connected just above the brake pedal there's a motor off to the side it's fairly hard to miss
@@Andys_Auto yes thats how i set the memory and it still does it, there is a code i scanned regarding it tho.
I would disconnect the cable then for a quick fix
@@Andys_Auto Wouldn't disconnecting that cable still move the gas pedal?
@@whitegoodman7465 yes that's correct. Sorry about that. In order to stop both pedals you will need to unplug the motor on the pedals. The motor directly controls one pedal and the cable controls the other. Sorry for any confusion
Nice job man, just subscribed.
I also have a 2018 Malibu and I have a problem, when i drive on a flaw road it sounds like a sharp knock in the back, is it the same problem that you had? I have taken it to several mechanics and they all say that the suspension is fine (sorry for my english i’m latin)
My 02 manual civic used to start strong but lately it has been sounding sluggish during crank. I had the battery test good. I believe the starter is going bad and will attempt to replace next w/e, thanks
Nice job! I can only imagine what Ford sells those intakes for agh....
500
My current solution is to keep everything in its blow-molded cases, but I feel like this can only last for so long
I’m interested in what you got going on over there. Doing my best to restore mine.
Let's go Chrysler 06 touring town and country,2024
Got same issues but not after I watch this I can do this easyyyy⚡ tnx ma boy
Water leaks on that rear coil through the above metal clip on cowl
This video saved my butt. Thank you so much 🙏
actually there is a seal on the pipe it just doesnt look like it. and it is needed. Sometimes you have to did the seal out. There is a seal you just dont what to look for. the four bolts should also be torqued to 71 inch pounds.
Thank you for the video. Question: why not remove the wheel bearing from knuckle AFTER removing knuckle from suspension?
If I remember right I needed it out of the way for one of my sockets to fit but it's been a while now.
Beautiful 👍 it was helpful 🫡 ty
Good job.
Thank you
Do you think oil on the belt would cause the battery light to come on after replacing battery and checking alternator and both being good ?
Yes. Oil on the belt can cause the belt to slip causing the alternator pulley not to spin with enough RPM to produce a charge output. Make sure the belt is clean.
I'm getting a "rattle" from the lower area. I'm not sure if it's the compressor or ??? Any thoughts? I did add some refrigerant for the first time this past year @130,000 but it still chills. I'm just not familiar with the other components on the bottom area.
Would be hard to tell without hearing it in person. I would recommend getting under it with a stethoscope and touching different parts until you locate the noise.
This was a huge help, thanks Andy!
No problem at all
What were you spraying?
Probably brake cleaner
Thank you for the video. Do you have the tork specs for the valve cover bolts?
Nice Demo. Agree the hub built into the rotor is a poor design.
I can dig it. Good job bro
Earned that sub. Thanks.
Get to replace one in a 2006 t&c , thanks for posting this video . Looks like it will be pretty easy to do .
Mostly helpful video. Just did mine today just as he has in the video but also had to go under to be able to use two hands to loosen nut on starter. That was inaccessible from above on my 2013 SE
Don’t do that just vote for Donald Trump and watch the Gas prices drop like a rock.
Already did but that just means I get my E85 that much cheaper lol
Love that stuff
Cool I thought there be alot of work involved but now I've seen good job bud.
If you try to start your car and nothing. Happens but your battery is good is that a sign its the starter?
Yes
Thanks
You skipped the only part I wanted to see I really wanted to see if the starters looked exactly identical 😢
If the ABS/ESC lights are on on your Compass/Patriot it’s most likely due to a problem with the abs wheel speed sensors. There’s one inside the hub on every wheel. A diagnostics scan tool that does all the modules of your vehicle should be able to tell you which code/sensor is the problem. On my 2015 Jeep Compass, it wasn’t the sensor itself, it was actually a loose wire for that particular sensor in the big wiring harness which is behind the wheel well on the front drivers side. New sensors are cheap on Amazon. You don’t want those lights to be on because often they will result in your cruise control not functioning.
Thank you for your generosity of heart to share this video. Just wrapped up my timing belt replacement. Watched your video through and then backed it up and stepped forward through the procedure 3-4 minutes at a time.
Just installed a throttle body on wife's compass. This video was perfect, understandable, and spoken clearly.
YOU ARE A G""D"" HERO!!! I bought this same compressor last week at HF. I searched HI and LOW, tons of videos, internet sites, company manuals... EVERYWHERE + 3 trips to Lowes to find the right socket!! I thought I was going CRAZY that the oil just cannot come out of this sight glass area. JUST (...literally) before I gave up I saw your short...Well all be damn....finally someone GET ITS. 7/8 with video example. I would have paid $100 for this info 3 days ago. YOUR A CHAMP. (and look like my type but I'm probably 20 years older). GOD BLESS YOU SON...kept me from losing my mind!!!! Surreal
I'm glad it helped you!
How much coolant does radiator and resivoir take?
Typically around 2 gallons
Does this make a whining sound that increases when rpm increases? That’s the issue I have now and it’s not the power steering
It may
2:30 pm why didn't you use some anti seize grease on the sliders for the pads?
Because you are supposed to use brake grease which I did use on the sliders
Fucking A Hey Got An New Carburetor And Solenoid For My 50CC Gas TaoTao Scooter? The Lights Come On And It Make A Noise And Want Turn Over What I Need To Do? And Greatness Video.
I don't mean to undermine the video, it helped a ton. But I got the alternator out by bending the metal AC pipe down, which gave me enough room to wriggle the alternator between the engine and the radiator fans, and dropped it out the bottom. I found it much easier
Doimg that can cause your A/c to leak if you're not careful
@@Andys_Auto I was super scared of that lol. But I got lucky and it didn't burst.
Hi, is this tool can read oxygen sensor my car is hyundai ix35 2.0D?. thank you
Don't forget to put a little grease on the lip of the axle where the transmission output seal rides. Also check the fluid in the transmission. Especially when none dripped out on the ground when you pulled the axle.
Thank you for the detailed information. I just bought one and will be using it for finding a problem with Traction Control System.
Thank you man I’m getting my first car in a few days, it’s a 2008 ford Taurus but the rear struts are shot and they need to be replaced, it hasn’t been driven in two years but as far as I could tell it was the only thing that needed replaced, maybe some new break pads, but your video was very informative and helpful. I will refer to your video as I work on my car
