Hi there, I'm The Brown Feminist. I'm a tri-national and I live in Canada. Growing up I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to be - a biomedical scientist! However, after doing my Bachelor's and my Master's degree and working in a purely wet lab environment, I realized I needed more patient contact to see my research create an impact in real-time. That's when I decided to go back to school and do a degree in Nursing. I then merged my clinical skills from nursing and my research background to become a Clinical Researcher. In this channel, I share my experiences of how this career path is going and what I am learning from it as I work in various industries and settings in Canada. I also create content to guide you all who are thinking of building a career in this field to help make your journey a lot smoother. I have crash courses, interview prep material, tips on how to negotiate your salary and a lot more! Don't forget to subscribe!

REAL Interview Questions I was asked - Hospital Bedside Nurse, Rural Hospital Canada (2024) [Part 2]
Last week I interviewed for a position as a hospital bedside nurse for the med-surg unit of a 'regional' hospital. A regional hospital in Canada is basically a hospital that is not in a busy urban centre, but rather serves a subdivision, a suburb, a rural area, the countryside, a smaller community, etc. One of my reasons to apply for a position at a regional hospital was because they were in more demand for bedside nurses and hence more willing to offer flexibility in timing, allow 'casual' positions (where I can pick up shifts on weekends/holidays) while keeping a day job in the city.
Previously, I had shared with you the real interview interviews I was asked during a clinical extern position application. If you want to review that, it is right now:

I hope you enjoy this video and benefit from learning about the styles of questions (and the answers I gave). Please don't use the answers to memorize, but rather customize them to your own experiences. Bring in your real life examples from past placements, consolidation, internships or externships, jobs as PSWs or otherwise. If you think you need a little bit more help to prepare for interviews, I would also be happy to help you with one-on-one support over zoom/MS Teams. 30 and never had an education..... still not too late?
My university professor went to university to get a bachelor's degree at 34. It's never too late :)
Never too late! There are adult high schools which help people in later stages of life complete their high school diplomas. There are university and college programs for "mature students" entering education later on life.
Thank you very much
This is monthly salary or yearly??
In canada its always yearly salary
What’s your initial and current salary?
I started at minimum wage at $14/hr, i am close to 6 figures now.
Wow 👏 👌 ... your commitment and sincerity is applauded in reaching your goal

Hello Mam, I just Finished my degree in Biochemistry and Industrial microbiology in India so im planning to take a clinical research course offered in Conestoga,Canada ...what do u think Mam?
its a good idea :) Just make sure to check that they offer co-op/internship. Also check that student visa in this program will qualify you for work permit in Canada after graduating. Best Wishes.
@@thebrownfeministcanada I actually emailed them about this and they told that they don't offer a co-op or placement and they told that there are numerous opportunities for students to gain experience is that good or should I look for another college ?Could you please suggest some other universities that offer internships or co-op.
I am from India

Hi. Your video is so informative. My query is, can foreign doctors work in clinical reseach field without canada physician license to practice?
Yes. They would not practice to the same capacity as a physician, but they can still use their clinical knowledge and do a short course in clinical research and work in a junior role (start off at the bottom and work your way up).
And you wonder why you're fat
Very informative video thanks girl i am currently in US i fail in first time i didnot do that much question first time and i didnot use headphone or earplug in exam center and i am so distracted and i got headache so badly dont know why So preparing now for second time i am taking time its been more than 3/4 month i am still studying i am mom of boy so i get little time hope-so i pass second time
It's okay, our failures are learning opportunities. So now you know how to prepare better for next time. And make sure to rest a lot and eat well the night before. Ask for ear plugs and stay focused on the day of the exam. Best of luck! p.s. My recommendation is to solve at least 1000-1200 questions on uworld. And take two practice tests on uworld.
@@thebrownfeministcanada thank you
Hello dear I'm also 28y and doing nursing this my second career option but every one second i'm confused what I'm doing is it right or not .... Always feel that it's too late ... Can you plz suggest me is it right for me ... And about age ???😔😔😔😔 Plz answer........
Hi Priya, thank you for sharing your story. It's okay to feel that way, I had the same concerns as well. But nursing is such an incredible field of work and you can do so much with a nursing degree after graduating. It will all help worth it in the end. With regards to age, I did find that doing bedside work on busy hospital units was physically harder for me than my fellow classmates who were ten years younger than me. But it is not impossible. In the long run, you can move to a clinic or somewhere else with monday-friday 9-5 schedules.
@@thebrownfeministcanada thankyou so much ma'am for reply of my msg .... Again thankyou 😊
CONGRATULATIONS FARIA!!!
Thank you :)
Your videos are really informative and helpful..

I am a professional project manager, and would like to enter the field of clinical research. Which program do you recommend. Thank you
I would need to know more about your academic background prior to being a project manager. Feel free to email me your resume at thebrownfeminist90@gmail.com
Thank you for everything
I was wondering what kinds of questions you would recommend asking as an interviewee applying for clinical research assistant roles or what kinds of questions you thought interviewees asked were good. Thank you!
That's an excellent question. Theres a few type of questions to ask, some that demonstrate your interest, others that will help u decide if u really want to do this job or not, and a few just to show u have done ur homework. I think i'll make a video on this next week and post on the channel :)
