The Inspirations - Listen To The Call
Here's a fast paced number from The Inspirations' 1974 'More To Go To Heaven For' album that is really musically appealing and almost impossible to dislike! Steel pedal work from a very your Roger Fortner here is featured and incredible!
As usual, the Mike/Eddie channel on the album is mixed slightly lower, but I've bumped them equal and kicked in a little processing so that you can hear and pick out all the different vocal parts and enjoy more easily! The stair-step harmony on the chorus is beautiful and some near-peak 1970's Inspirations!
Thanks for listening! More videos coming soon!

The Inspirations - Touring That City (Live in Warner - Robbins, GA)

Remixed version of The Inspirations performance of "Touring That City" from the live album " A Night of Inspiration" in 1976. This song was one the group's first breakout radio hits that turned the group from "up-and-comers" to one of the industry standard groups. This was the lead song on this live record and as good as the studio version of this song is, I actually like this version better! I...

The Inspirations performance of "Jesus Is Mine" from the live album " A Night of Inspiration" in 1976. All I've done is balance the left and right audio channels, and brighten the sound up a bit with some compression. The encore is a 5-alarm fire of holy spirit. Gives me chills EVERY time I listen. You can tell that this was their jam. They really come out of their shoes performing this one. I ...
The Inspirations - Oh, What A Day

This fun, up-tempo number comes from the Side 1 of the Inspirations' 1972 release "Wake Up In Glory" on Canaan Records. Right about this time you could really begin to hear Marvin Norcross' direction come out in the group's sound. Soon after this album, the group would undergo a handful of changes that would set them on a path of success and a string of hit records through the mid and late 70's...

Live album from 1976. i think it was recorded at the same time that The Hinson's "Live and On Stage" was recorded. The album art is from a 1972 Canaan Records live album called "Encore". These guys could jam and the harmonies are superb! Enjoy!

This is The Inspirations popular take on this all-time southern gospel classic. This song has remained a staple in the group's set list for decades. The album is a live recording from the annual "Singing in the Smokies" Festival that took place outdoors at Inspirations Park near Bryson City, NC until this past year. This was the second of two live recordings released in 1981 on the Inspirations...
The Inspirations - I Hear Them Singing

This is a side 2 track from The Inspirations 1979 album "Songs of Love". This was the last album that Eddie Dietz would sing on for almost a decade and this album is notable for being the last album that the group released with their classic 8 member line-up. In 1979 The Inspirations were: Archie Watkins (Tenor) Troy Burns (Lead) Eddie Dietz (Baritone) Mike Holcomb (Bass) Martin Cook (Piano) Da...
The Inspirations - God Is Still On His Throne
มุมมอง 28K14 ปีที่แล้ว
This fantastic song was a huge radio hit for The Inspirations from their 1986 album "Tell It To A Friend". This song is interesting because it sounds like producer Martin Cook uses some multi-tracking of Archie and Troy's voices here. It's also interesting that the cover art only features three singers. Some songs on the album sound like a trio, but there is a track (I Don't Have To See The Tom...

The Inspirations - Sing Me A Gospel Song
มุมมอง 11K14 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the title track from the Inspirations 1980 album "Sing Me A Gospel Song." This album is notable for many reasons. It's the first release on Inspirations Records; the issue number listed on the album is "INS-001-LP"; though I believe at some time around this period it was also released on Canaan. This was also the group's first album in more than a decade without baritone Eddie Dietz. Ja...

Left Channel audio only of The Inspiration performance of "Jesus Is Mine" from the live album " A Night of Inspiration" in 1976. Here, you hear the magic of the Inspirations: Archie and Troy working side-by-side. Here, hear them in a live element which, of course bring their voices out even further. Also, listen to the fine job that Martin Cook does on piano. He really starts leaning on that th...

GOD’S WONDERFUL PEOPLE I love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people Love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people What a sight just to see all the happy faces Praising God in heavenly places What a thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people Now it can be just anywhere Two or three are gathered there That the spirit of the Lord will be there too There’s no fellowship so sweet There’s no thrill that can compete With the thrill I feel whenever God’s children meet And on that great reunion day When our Lord says, “Come away” And the saints from every land stream through the gate Joining loved ones round the throne At last we’ll all be gathered home That will be the greatest thrill we’ve ever known I love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people Love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people What a sight just to see all the happy faces Praising God in heavenly places What a thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people I love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people Love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people

Martin, Eddie, Troy, Archie, Jack, Mike (Ol' 6'4, 94).
These guys had dozens of great songs. To me, none better than this one.
Definitely the best albums the Inspirations ever recorded- this was the apex of their careers though they sang in some form ( and I think still do) for many, many years. But the two live albums (Night of Inspiration and 12th anniversary live) were recorded on successive nights in 1976 in Warner Robbins Georgia. Always wondered why the group never really recorded live albums after that, or if they did, I don't remember them. And this was something of a unique time in Southern Gospel. The group quit taking a live band with the guitar player soon after this because the large auditorium concerts became less common and it was more churches and smaller venues. Truth is, the Inspirations have always been something of an acquired taste and have always had a niche following among a subset of southern gospel fans (this video has been up almost 10 years had has 5 or 6 comments). Certainly, not the best singers or musicians with a strong North Carolina twang in the case of Archie- but during a time in the mid 70s through early 80s they were a unique phenomenon. This was one of the first albums I ever bought as a teenage gospel music fan in southern Kentucky and I was enthralled by the live shot on the album cover.
Were you alive to experience that phenomenon? And if so, what part of the country were/are you from? I have only experienced the 1970s Southern Gospel genre through the internet and some records I have collected (thanks ebay and discogs). This type of music is anything but mainstream, even in record collecting circles. Albums like these can easily be found for under ten dollars. The genre of old time gospel quartets practically does not exist outside of a few old folks in very traditional churches.
Please can you please put the entire album on utube this beautiful album is a blessing
They sing the truth.
No doubt their best album
