    I got stopped by the police for the first time while listening to this video. I always try to listen to fitness podcasts on my nightly walks to finish my 10k steps and this one came up on the feed with 28 views and 1 like. I fully expected it to be a bunch of grifter nonsense and influencer BS. Lemme apologize right now, everything you said made me more and more sure that you know what you're talking about. However, about 3 minutes to midnight here in Florida 2 cop cars pulled up beside me and asked if I was okay. She asked what I was doing so late swinging my arms around, so I took out my headphones and showed her how close I was to finishing my steps. She probably thought I was on drugs beforehand, but she laughed and waved as she drove off afterwards.

    As a Judoka, I will not discount the value of Jiu Jitsu, but one rule of a street fight is don't get on the ground as its rarely one on one, and we have had Jiu Jitsu practitioners of all levels in the dojo struggle with beginner Judokas in a standup randori as their throws are pretty basic and easy to counter. It has been made popular with MMA back from the Gracie days, but in reality Judo will prepare you much better for a street combat than Jiu Jitsu.

    A lot of sports guys could be in for a shock, espiecally the guys that love to play on their back in guard. There are people that are good at "playing the game" but not good in a real fight. I used to know a few purple belts, the second we stood up i would dominate them as a experienced white belt with a little bit of wrestling knowledge... when engaging on the ground i was pretty screwed, but in a real fight... i'm not going to enter into your guard.

    • @edwardlenovo3240
      @edwardlenovo3240 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yup, this video is one of the few I have seen where they specifically mention, if you are doing this for a self defence reason, that's how you must train and think, and focus on techniques that won't open you up to attack. People need to stop thinking or referencing Joyce and the early UFC.... dude had been a practitioner for what 20plus years in the first UFC? Or they look at some other videos on youtube, usually of other people who have been training for years rolling up drunk idiots. I have seen many street/bar fights and they all start with pushing/shoving and wild haymakers (and the irony that also happens with trained MMA guys at weigh-ins, it's almost as if outside of control scenarios adrenaline and raw animalistic tendencies take over), and I have seen people go down because they had zero striking/counter-striking ability.

    Usually the biggest problem I see from people doing jiu jitsu from video's that exist of people fighting online is positioning. There are certain positions that are fairly ok to be in in jiu jitsu that are very bad to be in in a street fight. The worst one is the being underneath in a mount. If your opponents forehead at any point lines up with your face or chin, you have screwed up massively and should probably have trained to apply your arts in a context that was a little closer to what could happen. With that said, there are a lot of untrained people that will not understand to headbutt and that will automatically be turned into a pretzel by any grappler so even sports jiu jitsu is better than no jiu jitsu probably.

      It will help if a) you focus specifically on a handful of techniques that won't get you killed in bar on the street or b) you spend the decade plus neceassary to get to really high level where most scenarios will be under your control. Otherwise it's going to give you false confidence.

      @@jordancheckerpodcast Though I will say that indiscriminately sleeping with different women isn't what a young man should strive to do. Don't forget that this guy had two marriages, neither of which lasted. At that point I kinda get how you might wanna sleep around with people who had similar experiences. But as a general rule, I believe one should use the newly acquired skills to look for a marriage that actually works. Like Dr. Glover ultimately did and probably would have done sooner had the opportunity arisen. Unfortunately in his books he doesn't really look at the long-term consequences of having meaningless intercourse at a young age for the people themselves and for society in general. It's great that a guy with a doctorate and lots of success can sleep with lots of women, but that really shouldn't be the standard. Because it leaves the average guy empty-handed and in a way validates the astronomical standards of modern women. All the while hurting them emotionally - even if you say you don't want commitment and end it early one, they will still be frustrated.

    This women is living in ice-age! 1. The existence of Human beings is NOT just to ‘Reproduce’. This world has enough people already. Hence, your species won’t be extinct anytime soon! 2. Biologically & ‘Psychologically’ it’s totally normal to not want to have kids. 3. There are good men who know how to raise a family. But having a child or not can be an individual’s personal choice. This world needs to normalize Adoption. You don’t need to be a biological parent to be a parent. All you need is good values that you can pass on to generations…

    When the fuck are men seen as more competent than women? In any modern piece of media you will see men shown as incompetent and incapable and women as being inherently competent and capable of doing things on their own. Men are played as buffons while women are portrayed as funcitonally comptent at worst and highly comptent super heroes more often than not.

Are the boys trying to keep up with the girls? How about maybe, just maybe it's the corporatization of our food production and the massive amount of ultra processed shite available to eat. Speak to your grandmothers as to their periods and wombs.. you might get a different perspective.

    Look I don’t doubt the guy’s intentions and I agree with his assessment that hunting is a discipline in fact there is so much to learn way before you ever take a shot and even more after that I feel one must always be learning; but I feel like he has the arrogance of the self taught. I say this as someone who is also self taught…. Self teaching. To say that if you don’t put as much time into it as I do you’re not doing it right or you don’t deserve to hunt, is such fkn crap. If you are making ethical shots well placed then you should be able to hunt. Australia is fucked for taking away bow hunting. And he can fuck right off for not fighting tooth and nail against it.

    No one ever has to have this conversation about fishing. When I tell people that I hunt, some will inevitably ask what is the appeal of watching an animal die. When I tell people that I like fishing, not a single person has the idea that I just like to watch the fish die. Why is that? Why do they get it about fishing, but they don't get it about hunting?

    I’m a late-onset hunter, just picked it up in the last couple years (I’m 40) and got into archery too. It’s so true that, if you want to be successful, it can’t just be something you “do” like yeah I hunt sometimes… it has to be who you are. It changes how I approach my whole life, my priorities, my diet, how I manage my time. It’s truly a lifestyle.
