Just found you videos after researching sheep. I’ve been wanting to get some cattle and or sheep. I think I’d like to start out with sheep having younger kids to get them used to animals that won’t be able to hurt them or take them out. Watching more of your videos I realized your in Arkansas and so are we. Would love to get katahdin after researching what would do best in our climate. If you know anyone in central Arkansas that’s a breeder or if you’re close, I may be interested in picking up a few. Thanks and enjoying your videos!

We got 10+inches! And yes my chickens sneeze all the time! I think it's when they have powdery food all they breathe the dust in from it! I could never run out in the snow in shorts 😂

Because horses are too damn expensive these days. I think everybody wants to be a backyard cowboy because of westerns. I’ve heard many speak of the Yellowstone effect. However doesn’t seem to cover it to me. I don’t know where you’re getting anything worth working for $500 dollars.we can’t find anything less than around $20,000.00 for anything that has spent anytime under a saddle.

Your Grandpa Kenny is a wise, wise man.😊 I am 71 and find myself repeating my grandparents " idioms" quite often. You'll find that later in life you'll repeat them too. And that is what is great about grandparents. One set of my grandparents was "country" and one set was "city." Boy, the "idioms" I learned from my country grandparents that I couldn't say in front of my city grandparents. If I said "tit's on a boar" in front of my city grandma she would have been dragging me to church before I could have drawn another breath. On the other hand I will never forget seeing my Grandma come flying out of an outhouse with her dress flapping and her undies around her ankles after she saw a blacksnake inside it. Good times. 😂

Our favorite saying from my husband's dad was I think also from his dad, & we even put it on a t-shirt, but it's more on the serious side about life...he often says, "It's a great life if you don't weaken." From a monetary standpoint is it horses, or four-wheelers is that the question? From the economic side it will probably be four-wheelers from a satisfaction point of view I think a horse. Horses take more care than a four-wheeler, hay, feed, vet bills, farrier, saddles, bridles, ropes, water, pastures. Humans are animals and the connection between animals is universal. A four-wheeler is an inanimate object do you get a connection with that? Saying that I have seen ranch hands using four-wheelers to heard cattle to loading pens in Nebraska once. I lived in Texas for 20 years and have seen them on horseback but never actually herding cattle. I have been around horses since I was 6 and my mother was a breeder of Quarter horses for forty years. As a kid I have herded cows along the road on foot to a pasture on a farm no horses or four-wheelers involved.

I only have 9 sheep on our homestead, and they are a pain to corral too!

People still use horses. They even breed specifically for cow work.
