Was that a fully charged battery that lasts about 6 minutes on track? I think you said 'bijna leeg'.. I'm calculating the engine power.. 9000mAh = 9Ah / 0.1 hours (6 minutes) = 90 amp average. If you're full throttle 50% of the time that makes full power ~ 180amps at .. 7.5 volt? is 1350Watts which is 1.8 horsepower.. Sounds ok?
Serpent taipan 988e was about 15 seconds per lap, but "th-cam.com/video/9uYAYwLuk3o/w-d-xo.html" is about 14 seconds. I thought the taipan was faster, but is the engine faster? Or is it just reversed due to differences in tires and road conditions?
Im also in that video, starting from 3rd. But the taipan or viper are around the same laptimes as nitro 8th scale.

These look very nice to drive, although you guys have some serious skill obviously. Is there much difference between the Viper and Taipan? Is one easier to drive than the other? Run time with 4s lipo is around 6 miniutes? Or is that 2s? How long do tyres last? Sorry for all the questions! PS. Thanks for the upload, watched this a few times now!
Hi, On this very smooth track, the Taipan (from Julius) is faster then the Viper (my car) but on a more bounce surface he cannot keep up with me. We drive 4S lipo (2x 2S) Tyres last the same as for nitro. But I always use old tyres from my nitro car, and run them nearly to the rim.
Taipan is a 1/8 pan car. Pan cars run the best on smooth surfaced tracks.
How does it handle with the lack of actual suspension
This Taipan is converted, and has some suspension in the front.
Did you retrofit a 966? And if so how? Great video.
This was the original 966e, with custom made radio plate, to fit a 6S Lipo.

I am currently converting my ARC R8.2 to electric. Translation is according to instructions 57/27, isn't it a bit too long? I've already rebuilt it with a Hobbywing Combo XR8 Plus and 2600 Kv Combo, but the ESC was way too hot
Hi, with the Hobbywing Xr8, you need the optional power caps, if you run more then a 2000kv motor. That probably why it was to hot.
What is the gear ratio (pinion & spur gear) used on the 988e ??

Welche 2s lipos würdest du für die serpent modelle empfehlen? Leider sind nicht alle Lipo Hersteller gut, ehrlich und haben genug power..
Hi, I drive the arrowmax 7800mAh HV and arrowmax 8200mAh lipos, and am really happy with them! I believe intellect/IP batteries are also good.

Don't know, it's your call. I mainly drive the car for training purposes, don't really race with it, racing I do with my 989.

How about motor kv??
It appears to be way overpowered, one hears how the motor spins up much faster than the car accelerates. All tires are spinning.

6S Lipo, 1900kv motor, 48/17 gearing, 72mm rear tyres.
Ich habe einen 2850kv motor mit insgesamt 4s und schafft genauso wie dein 6s 42180kv. Mein vorteil ist das die 4s ein geringeres Gewicht haben, als dein 6s bei gleicher Leistung :)) die Rennstrecke ist in Holland?

@@SRB429 ach den serpent 977e habe ich seit 2 jahren nicht mehr, aber ja das 4s setup würde ich empfehlen, heute würde ich wieder 4s fahren aber dafür die combo von hobbywing xr8+

Around 2700 grams.
Pretty good weight, think most of our cars in the UK are over 2800grams on 4S
In laptimes is there any difference between the E and Nitro?
No, not a lot. E is a little bit faster, But the amount of "bottom power" makes it a very good way to train your skills! After driving the Electric car, driving the Nitro car becomes easier, and you will get faster!
What pinion have installed?
+MugenRC, I nowadays drive the 1900kv motor instead of the 2050, because I like the feeling better. With new 76mm tyres, I drive 16/49. Check the serpent website, under the download section of the 977e, there is a sheet I made called "S977e rollout chart.pdf" this give you very usefull info for what gearing ratio's you need to choose.

I didn't switch. Some time ago I tried 4S (even 5S) in the 966 also, because at that time I had problems running on 6S, with the Hobbywing set I was running in the 966. Once I switch to Tekin, the problems were gone.
No I mean in this video (977)you are running a tekin. But in a newer you use a 4s in your 977
No I don't. I only ran 6S in my 977.

Hi Pascal, no Daan is not faster in laptimes yet.. hahaha. I have 14.7, Daan 14.8... But I have to agree, Daan needs to get a bit more feeling with his car, so laptimes should go down. But, you know with Serpent, we are looking at your equipment to..... 1 thing though, I didn't see him reach 5 minute runs..... I reach 6.....

LMAO! I knew what you mean, but I had to be sure, I've seen some pretty crazy setups here in Tampa, and even when I was in Germany. Negative gearing was like a normal thing to run even if it was only for a couple of minutes on a track before the motor and esc blew. But anyway that's a nice Serpent and some good driving on that track. I'm doing the Mugen MBX6 on the track here in Tampa on a Tekin setup on 6cs lipos, an its the best track running buggy in the business.
