A little bit of a different style of video. In this "sights and sounds" video, I do less talking and attempt to capture the atmosphere of the environment out on my hike. I may incorporate more of this style into future videos. I hiked along some of the Pennine Way national trail to take me to Fountains Fell where I camped out at the tarn. #silenthike #fountainsfell #wildcamp #yorkshiredales ins...
A Night on Dow Crag - Wild Camp
มุมมอง 200ปีที่แล้ว
An incredible spring evening hike up to Buck Pike where I set up camp and caught some amazing sunset views. What started off as a still night turned very windy but the new sleeping bag kept me warm all night. The next day I tackled Dow Crag and Old Man of Coniston and even managed a very quick dip in the tarn before heading home for Sunday dinner. #wildcamping #hiking #lakedistrict #outdoors in...

Join me on this hike up Haystacks, starting at Buttermere and then finding a wild camp spot for the night. The next day I tackled Great Gable for some decent views on the way down. A cold night but the rain stayed away #hiking #wildcamping More photos and route info in my instagram @stu._fit Music: Thousand Miles - Music Unlimited Chill Abstract - ComaMedia Freezing Night = John Kensy

    I always get one saggy corner and the peg line comes undone on it. Driving me a bit mad to be honest. Also, I thought it was made in America and its made in Vietnam.

    Hi! Great tent and a lovely pitch! Are you coeliac? And what was the thermometer you had there?

      Hi! Thanks for watching, no I have Crohn's :( meat, fish and eggs is the only food I don't get a reaction to! The thermometer is a Thermopro TP50. Hope that help!

    Lovely video. Seriously thinking of purchasing the DurstonX-Mid 1 solid for all year round use in UK, so very useful to see it used in winter conditions on Helvellyn. Do you have any concerns at all about using the tent in high winds or torrential rain? I guess that the secret is to ensure that it is pitched correctly (and to practice this properly first). I would also attach guylines to each side on the attachment points to pull the door out.

      @summitwithstu 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Simon, thanks for watching! I think if pitched properly it can handle some pretty nasty weather. The key is to get a quality pitch though. A conventional tent with poles and/or free standing design will be much more forgiving if struggling to get a good pitch. On the Durston TH-cam channel there is a great instructional video which helped me a lot with getting a better pitch. Hope that helps! Stu

      Thank you for your reply. Good advice about the Durston instructional video - it seems that the tent will perform very well in poor weather AS LONG AS it is pitched correctly. Thank you and good luck with the channel, I look forward to watching more of your trips.

    Got to be honest, the xmid looked a bit out of its depth and very saggy inside. I have one but haven’t used it yet. Definitely going to wait for fairer weather.

      Yeah I don't think my pitch helped things at all. I'm testing it again soon in the snow so will see how it fares! Thanks for watching

    I have the XMID-2P for two years and really put it to good use. It performs well in heavy rain and moderate to heavy winds. I found that getting the perfect pitch is the key. Getting that perfect taught rectangle and pulling the cords at each corner taught before inserting the trekking poles. Pulling the cords at the four corners keeps the tent bottom close to the ground. When it is windy, I guy out both ends of the tent. I did not like the stakes that came with it so I purchased some 6-inch Groundhog stakes. Enjoyed your video.

      Good to hear that is has performed well in poor conditions. Actually hoping for some bad conditions on my next camp so I can put it to the test again with a better pitch. Thanks for the tips 👍 and thanks for watching

    I've got the X-Mid2 and had it out in end of Sept atop the Schill in the Cheviots one very windy & rain-soaked night...... I was surprised how well it performed, was pretty solid & kept me & my gear dry. I attached 4 extra guys and used 4 Delta pegs and that was it. Well impressed with it. ATB

    A bit of a windy and wet night on this wild camp next to Angle Tarn in the Lake District. This was my first time using my Durston X-Mid 1 Solid tent and it stood up well to the bad weather keeping me warm and dry all night. For first impressions - I love this tent, the simple design makes it easy to get a good pitch giving plenty of room inside. I hope you like the video - don't forget to like and subscribe please!

      Good to finally see a great review on this tent in harsh conditions. I got mine a few months back but haven’t had a chance to give it a proper test yet as we have been on a few hammock camps. Brilliant video 👍👍
