Personally I think Kawasaki ruined James’s career by not having the 4 stroke ready for him to race! That’s what most people don’t understand is that they didn’t have a choice but to race the 2 stroke which was clearly a disadvantage and anyone that races will tell you that no matter what you are running you hate to lose and Bubba had to do things on the 250 and it wasn’t able to handle it and crash’s were the end result!! And we all got screwed because if James had the 4 stroke his career would’ve lasted longer and I believe he would’ve done things on that bike we would’ve still been shaking our heads!!!!🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Funny thing is that Ricky apologized to James later on cause James was taking the same line all race and Ricky actually let off the gas and that’s why Bubba landed on him!! Listen to the two of them talk about it on the podcast

Love the old races, maybe you can help me when I was a kid i got a 1999 kx125 from a privateer supercross racer. I can’t remember his name I put a picture on my account “shorts”. The bike had everything, best suspension 15ft to flat zero recoil, 3 Curve tuner literally had the works. It would throw a 6ft roost, coming out of turns a 2006 426F could not get in front. Had the purple thumbs up on the frame behind the forks. The top end would never last and lucky if the crack would last a year.

Fantastic vid. Hard to imagine its 42 years ago. ’82 was maggo’s year. He’d earned a full-on honda factory ride. Was the upset winner of the usgp at carlsbad where he later in the year won the superbikers. Then add in his unprecidented sweep of the mx and trophy des nations and he was sitting on top of the worls. Some race related administative transgressions cost him his honda ride and he went overseas to contest fim 500cc world championship. Unlike an unknown rookie or washed up american veteran he was immediately comoetitive winning the french gp and placing well in the other races of the series. Sadly, we all know how it ended and it was a cruddy shame. He deserved better. I was fortunate to have seen him race here in southern California and he was a sight to behold. Fast and fearless would begin to describe him. All eyes were on him whenever he was on the track. His style was thrilling. One of a kind rider. Sad how he went out

Just because Carmicheal was a winning rider it doesn't mean that he should be in the booth at Supercross now. Most people will tell you that he is a long way from being the best analyst that we have available in the sport. We need to replace him for 2025.

Jobe went to honda, and Thorpe went to kawasaki. Confusing wasn't it? I could have never predicted that move. I kinda thought Jobe wasn't happy with kawasaki, but unexpected for Thorpe.

The kawasaki worked good for Dave. I've got to say though, honda had the most beautiful bike. Honda didn't work for Jobe though. Whatever.

A 4 stroke bike out there with 200cc’s more than the 2 strokes and still not winning. Does this tell anyone anything about these 4 strokes?

I love how the 450 4 stroke got smoked and it’s 200cc larger than the 2 strokes. In what world or who decided this was even fair in the first place? These 4 strokes are not meant for racing this type of racing. It’s clear to see here the bikes can not handle it even from the beginning. If Doug Henry was in a 2 stroke it still would have done very well or better. They need to go back to race bikes.

I wonder if Greg A or Jeff E watched anytime there was a drag race with Jeremy with jeremy slightly behind. The Honda would out pull the other bikes. I truly think the others had the skill level but those Hondas would always give at least 4-5 more seconds per lap and that adds up it also adds up in wins and dollars
