For the first Hillbilly Hierarchy video, Ken takes Rich for a ride in his 1971 Sanger V-drive with a 468 CI big block chevy!
Sounds really good! I like Vinnys cameo!
Hey I seen you at michigan center lake
Yes, you probably did! next time come say "hi"
This was awesome!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
Looks like a good time, dads!! 🤩
We had a great time! Vinny turned into a Florida boy real quick.
you just got to love the sound of a Big Bad V8
Ledgend has it if you stand behind larrys motor (klotz guy) you could possibly loose a limb or be cut in half by water coming from his tell tale / water outlet. lol
🤣Larry's got a strong stream!
I was wrong we actually have that boat and two shorts
Ay i just checked them out, nice footage! thanks for reaching out. Added you as a friend, maybe ill get to talk to ya at the events next year.
And that's marvin and the checkmate from Pentwater Mi.

We caught you guys on our channel
Sweet video you got a few vids of my black white red yellow and orange stv pro comp mod VP the speeds I was running was 90.3 mph with that propeller. Hopefully you guys come back next year!!!sweet ride your boat is awesome! Hopefully more drag racing next year!
90.3 mph is cooking! glad you enjoyed the video, loved seeing your boat run! I think i have one more video to make of fly bys and start ups so you might see you and your boat a little more in the next one. We will definitely be there next year and i'd love to see some more drag racing. Thanks for the comment!
I'll be faster next year I'm repowering with a mercury 2.5 245 hp (carb) race motor it'll be in the triple digits then easily
I love these jet boats!
I cant decide if i like the jets, v-drives, i/o's, or outboards best!
@@thehillbillyhierarchy there is one by me fairly priced under $4k. I’m thinking about getting it if the hull is in good shape.
@@lakelifeandbeyond They're the slowest of the bunch but I'd be tempted by it too! It's not how fast you go, its how good you look doing it 😃.
@@thehillbillyhierarchy I gave one a run for its money on my Seadoo GTR 230. I did about 64 mph and he was way back behind me. I was like no way that boat is that slow. Lol
🤣@@lakelifeandbeyond oh they are but everyone that has one will tell ya they're 100 mph boats lmao.
Awesome footage. That looks like alot of fun
great job Marv
Is that water vapor?
yessir!
What gear and prop are being used? Current set up in that boat is for skiing from the factory. To get it to really take a set the motor needs to move further towards to bow. About 36-37 inches off the transom.
Still the factory 1:1 gear. I dont remember the pitch of the prop but its a 2 blade, its the right go-fast prop. I know Ken is considering a re-gear in the future, its plenty fast as is imo lol. I know a lot of people move the engine forward but it is cool to see a Sanger that still has the rear seats!
Crazy old guy !! I'm 60 and I doubt I could run that fast on the water !!
Right? Ken is a badass!
God i miss this! in the driveway pissing off most the neighbors! lol and smell of race gas or alchohol!!!
a GREAT friend i lost in 2005 introduced me too narrowed rear end drag car on nitrous! wow to few years later alchohol injected jet boat! lol he built then sunk a blown V drive and was lucky too survive. i got crotch rockets but a fast , loud boat is coming. lol toys will have issues but this is a nice boat Sir!!! Love for speed too from Arkansas!
Sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sure he'll be looking down on you when you get your hot boat! Thanks for the comment.
When you hit WOT, does the engine hit the rev limiter ?
It does not hit the limiter but its way up their in the RPM. I think if we get a good run it could hit the limiter on the big end. I do think that Ken is considering a re-gear at some point.
Did y'all like the gauges? We have an "old guys" hot boat meet on July 28th. Please subscribe if you'd like to see some more hot boats! Thanks for watching!
Does the dude know how to drive the fucking thing geez
I smiled throughout that whole video.
These are the best comments, thanks for that!
No worries mate, it’s true, that Big Block sings, especially through headphones turned up full noise. Cheers from Mudjimba beach Queensland Australia.
Typical Sanger flatty that won't take a set, and a driver who doesn't know how to drive it. Pitiful!
...because only a hillbilly would water vaporize the garage full of tools? 👍
Believe it or not, the garage is still standing and the tools still work :)
Lad's haven't you seen a big block backfire and flame on. Happened to me. Please put airfilters on your beast before you test fire it. Fires on boats end in tears. My neighbours had a fuel fire on a ski boat and he had to throw his twin girls into the water at age 5. They still have scars. Their dad was burnt too getting them out. The fire started from open carbies im cold motor. Be safe my friends enjoy the big block monster you built. So much better than out board hp that only the rich can afford. The merc600 v12 is $112,000 AUD. Love inboard v8's. Remember, God made rotories so fuckwit's wouldn't drive v8's Love your boat brother. :) Stay safe.
Hard to make any carb adjustments with the scoop on! That is terrible to hear about your neighbors, glad to hear they survived. On my ski boat, i run the blower all the time. The bilge can fill up with fuel vapor and that is what the fire usually results from. hmmm...a rotary flat bottom? I think you're on to something! Thanks for the comment :)
Really miss my flatties but started racing and the MPH of the Kurtis 500 really blew away the flat... Only problem? Hydro made a crap lake boat (and dry headers)... Flat was super fun, Hydro super fast... Sounds like you have a fine power plant waiting to be tested... :) ya know it is going well when you look down and the plate is set two notches lower than usual and ya still flyn... hahahahah
In memory of Is the Coolest then the boat! Love will always outlast everything this world has to offer! Love is Eternal and Enduring That's Real Power! Jesus Loves You ,Sir May The Lord Lead and Guide You Protect You and Bless You and Your Family.
Did you ever notice how all of the guys that drive these boats are experienced grey hairs like me ?
I'm getting some myself from hanging around them lol
We're the best, yes.
Hopefully you’re more intelligent than this guy…driving with no eye protection is pure stupidity.
Timing!
Ken got it sorted out :)
I run 20 degrees initial with a 10 retard upon startup and 36 degrees total. The high compression 468 that I have seems to like a lot of initial timing. I also run VP C12 Race fuel. I actually like that 468 over my 598.
36 total is what the new motor is set to in the newest video. Interesting that you like the 468 over your 598, any specific reason?
It never gives me any problems Real reliable engine. They say the old MARK IV are very forgiving engines. I haven't put the 598 in. It is going to take modifications to the crossmember and a entirety new 4 inch exhaust.
Sweet !! Big Block sounds Good !!
That timing looks like way too much advanced
When he advanced it, it definitely was. It has a new set up in it now :)
For starters……I think you need to have some respect for the people in those houses is it not possible to go out onto open water, I understand you are allowed to run up and down there but come on it’s not exactly a quite machine. Secondly…..I think the older guy driving might be a little scared to actually open it completely up and see what its got because he keeps backing off, but in saying that good on him for having a go at his age.
TY for your valuable input.
No Safety Equipment at all. What kind of Idiots are you? 👎😆
Thanks brother! What a beautiful sound ...
He keeps backing off never nails it and stay in it for a while scared?
WOT at 7k RPM for about 20 seconds at 4:44. It went over 100mph, not sure what you want to see :)
My friends dad let me drive his blown flat bottom at lake don pedro back in 1983 and I’ve been hooked ever since
what do you have now?
I'll never forget the 1st time I went 110 mph in a flat bottom boat. It was my Uncle Mike Hickman's (rest in peace) in Arizona. That was a nasty small block Chevy he had. Friggin' unreal to experience.
Ty Uncle Mike! RIP!
Legend has it that Dan is waiting for you in the fabulous spectacular vessel called suck my wake. Pulling a big Bertha. F.j.b
Prrrfect
careful ken dont wanna blow it up out of the water that isnt fun but a easy fix sitting in the driveway?! 🤷♂️🤔👍
dont worry, he got it figured out :)
What a sound!!!!! Awesome!!! Nice work!!
Neighbors must love you
Ken and I are neighbors!
That looks like steam from two blown head gaskets
The headers are water injected.
Yeah what I’m talking about, beautiful boat just got the love that sound. I just subscribed I’ll be watching for more watching now
Thank you for the comment and sub. We will definitely have some more content :)
I always wanted to build a boat with a merlin out of old ww2 plane
I like that idea! Makes me think a rotary piston engine on a fan boat would be really cool too.
Nothing better than an old Sanger with a BB!
I can hear laughter on the first ride on the lake. That sounds like it meets or exceeds your expectations. Definitely a fun generator!
Saludos from Mexico. Love that old style boat. Worked for Aqua Craft during that era in Azusa Ca. Would take a bare hull and build it from the bottom up. One of the best jobs I ever had. So grateful I got to do that. And the memories. Thanks
Hola! That does sound like an awesome job, thanks for sharing. I bet you could build yourself a really nice boat with that knowledge. Thanks for watching!
