Thanks! I hadn't heard of the 1976 film but looks interesting, adding to my watchlist! And I never delved into the Acquanetta stuff as I thought it was all more adventure/Tarzan style... but I probably should give them a chance!

I think expectations were half of my issues with the film, true, especially because it was included in their Wolfman boxset when it probably shouldn't be.

It's a promotional image for the 1990 TV show that was also titled She-Wolf of London. It is... one way to advertise your show I guess!

I could even forgive not being given an actual werewolf if the mystery/story had some intrigue to it. As you say, it's very predictable, which just makes it a disappointing watch.

Agreed, the stunt is good but just a little anticlimactic in context. A fitting end for a Renfield type, but not a Dracula, so to speak. True about Universal's films holding back a little, especially in that wartime/post-war era. Even their non-horrors, like the Sherlock films always ending with a clunky rousing monologues to put you at ease after all the mystery and villainy.

They can work, especially if the touching hand comes from a bullying/clowning character. But I guess like anything, it's how the trope is executed. Lazy versions of the trope where there's no reason the character should or would creep on the victim, that's what becomes old quickly when consuming so many of these films lol

I would love to, there are so many films/topics I want to cover. But the reality is quite the opposite for now; with a second child arriving imminently I need to take a bit of a break from the channel to focus on domestic life. And then I shall hopefully return with a vengeance!

Oh I swear if they snatch GDT's Frankenstein away from us now... at least Warner Bros and their trigger-happy Delete button are nowhere near most of these movies!

I do think the 2020s so far have been unexpectedly strong in terms of horror films, and if it can keep up some of that momentum, it will easily surpass the 90s - which as you say, yeah, not the best decade despite a handful of stone cold classics

Since the 50s yeah, and thus greatly influential on many of our favourite horror filmmakers and writers who then grew up with them - it's no wonder they were able to amass such talent for the eventual TV show, they all already loved the stories!

I don't love it as much as most seem to, but I will give it some credit. The concept is delightfully simple and there's wonderful little snippets peppered throughout (the really tall guy creeping through the doorway scared the crap outta me!)
