100 years of Solitude is great
Another thing that made me dislike Florentino was how subjective was his morality. Like loving Fermina was an excuse to be so filthy, make woman cheat on their husbands, be a pedophile. And he did not stop even when that woman lost her life.
I ended up wishing they will not end up together. I don't see how this is a love story.
I don't understand what Hector Rouvier, the former child under the nanny's care, knows about her, and the knowing understanding between him and the captain interviewing him. And I also didn't quite follow what the investigator Nina has discovered in the final chapters.
Thank you for explaining this book so well!! I am so excited to read it. The movie is one of my favorites and I often wondered if this was based off of a real story, or a book written.
I like your attitude how you explain
I didn’t understand the subtle warnings under the surface of water, now I kind of absorbed something from other people’s bloody experiences, yeah I think the only difference(because when you look those people who wrote review of the book and the writer who seemed to be the number one haunting ghost) which prevented me from getting raped in that young age (I am not mention that I didn’t wear bra until I was 16 I think because my grandmother neither she brought me up a fully abused woman in every way in her marriage) in my then slightly fat body(because other girls were so thin so they get all attention and applause) was i just a coward and didn’t have that confidence went out with those popular kids when one of their girls asked to go that popular swimming pool among teenagers
Nice dog❤
Hey, i am a medical doctor in india, i had social anxiety, i couldn't read well during my medical school, i tried clonazepam and ssri in my final year, but after quiting that it made my anxiety much worse, now i get physical symptoms while reading, how to deal with it, i get physical symptoms if i think too deeply, it like my brain is clouded, what to do, i dont want to take medicine, i am preparing for highly competitive exam called neet pg similar to usmle.
If you are THIS senstive about a book written decades ago then may be you should choose books more carefully.
MY MOMS FRIEND MADE THIS BOOK❤❤❤
I really liked the ending
Looking forward to getting into this for my club at Tombolo Books in St Pete FL ❤
You must next read 'A Transatlantic Love Affair,' as soon as you possibly can!!
It's important to read many works and know that all extreme forms of government lead to totalitarianism.
Possibly the best book I’ve ever read…and today, as so much is “canceled”, just for bringing attention to its reality, I have to mourn for those like Tony, who worked so hard…
This book is a masterpiece and all women MUST read it. Especially wealthy ones.
este libro es buenisimo de audiolibro!! la manera que narra todo, cuando canta, cuando habla otros acentos, brutal !!!
I am currently reading it. It was picked by bookclub.
Are you in denial that western inventions and western civilization created modernity?
A lovely video. Cheers!
Bel Ami is my one of my top three favorite books. I’m working on writing Bel Ami 2. Maybe you can review it in a couple of years when I finish it?
This book was really good. Tony was a great writer in general too. Rip to bro
When I read this book for the first time, I literally cried several times throughout the whole thing. It's just such a heart felt book and I don't even know the right words to describe it.
I’m sending you love ❤❤❤
New subscriber! :)
Your review helped me realize why society lacks creativity and why it shouldn't be expected.
Sounds like a great series! Is the author who I think she is? I feel a rabbit hole coming 😂
Oh, sounds up my alley! I love low-drama cozy romance.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, if you get to it!
Wow. Missed the whole point. Very narrow, shallow post-modern approach.
😂 Geez, when the Wikipedia article is better, you know you're doing it wrong.
Exactly 😅
I hope you haven't retired from book tube your the only TH-cam's I know who covers Hispanic author books
Thank you for saying that! I'm working on coming back 😃
I finished reading it maybe about a couple months ago but I can definitely relate to you with the way it just deeply resonates. As a 1st gen Latino it is definitely difficult to get through in its entirely but once I finished it. I immediately got emotional and I started doing my research in interviews about him. I’m so inspired by him and Jose M. Hernandez that I too hope someday my story can touch the lives of many other migrants and 1st generation families. And hope Javier reunites with Chino, Carla, and Patricia. Thank you for this amazing review! If I didn’t find it myself, I definitely would have picked it up after your video! :)
Yes! I felt the need to watch as many of his interviews as possible. I've really admired the way he has used his talents and platform. Thank you so much for your kind words too. We all have stories that need to be told and I hope you gets to share yours with as many people as possible ❤️
Wonderful review. Thank you.
I came her for your review of the Priya Guns debut. I just finished reading Your Driver is Waiting and I couldn't rate it any higher than 3.5 stars. As the book started out, I honestly didn't believe I would be able to rate it any higher than 2, because at the time, I'd grown quite frustrated with the narrator's stream of consciousness moments, as well as her obvious A.D.D. So many times, Damani would say random things in response to what someone else said or I couldn't tell whether her charcoal was even paying attention and it got frustrating. I later watched a video of the author answering questions about the book and she stated that she wanted to write something for people with short attention spans (like her). I only rated the book higher once D started going off the rails. I did enjoy the fact that so many issues were bought up in this particular book. Thank you for sharing! ✨️
Omg it's such a good book though
Bahahaha--I just noticed on a replay that the section for The Keening is called 'Zucchini' ... go, auto-craptions! 🤣🤣🤣
D'oh
What a great review! Adding "When the King Took Flight" to my TBR.
Thank you! I hope you can get to it soon😃
Hope you are well happy new year!
Happy new year to you too!
So agreed!! This was such a fun book!
Yes!
I just finished this book. The intimate and enthralling details of this journey to the US for Javier Zamora and his beautiful protectors was an unprecedented story for me as a reader. It was difficult to consume but I felt I needed to bare wittiness to this real life experience for so many immigrants.
❤❤❤ habit habit habit. 2012 to 2020. I worked in Jeffersonvill Indiana, Shepardville Kentucky, Mishawaka Indiana and elkhart indiana These town were called sun down towns. What that means if your not white you will be killed. So, what I did I found Waffle House restaurants 24hrs. I would read my used books from 4am to 8am This was great, i read so much. I returned home to Downey California and I continue this habbit. The bet time for me reading is morning. It’s habbit.. todya, I read my books at Portos bakery in Downey , i love it. Cali 😢😢
You’re 100% Right!! These were my exact thoughts.. beautiful.., but unhealthy Obsession, disregard for what she wants, promiscuity, & Pedophilia for sure. However, it’s written so beautifully & the movie is also so well that I find myself wondering 🤔 if readers/viewers justify these massive sins? Also, the suppressing & not acknowledging that he was raped.. -Is that what led to his need to f#^* so many women? .. to feel a sense of control. Is that what led to the grooming & pedophilia? Did he secretly hate women? First rejected, then raped..? I also didn’t like his mother’s negativity. It felt as if she’s projecting her failed love story onto him.. -constantly feeding his brain: She’ll leave, it won’t last, etc.. It almost seemed like self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe this conditioning led to him giving her creepy vibes, as it only took moments for her to realize that he’s wrong for her.
So many great books! Love Sugar Magic and Sal & Gabi are two of my favorite series of all time too. I always look forward to your middle grade recs!
I am now working with middle schoolers so all of my middle grade reading is really coming in handy 😃
your prejudicial racially infused ideological standpoint is the completely wrong lens to which to view this novel.
I love a good cowboy romance (I'm a big fan of Rebekah Weatherspoon's Cowboys of California series). I'm definitely going to check this one out.
These are very much in the same vein!
Glad you're continuing to enjoy the series! It's such a neat premise.
I think you would like the second one by the way 😃
@@bookwhimsy Oh, really? I'll have to see if my library will get it, then!
why is les miserables and the phantom of the opera not on the list?
I read this book, and I loved it. This is the second Silvia Moreno-Garcia book that I've read and I need to read more.
I am around 70% through with this and I love it. Montserrat is bad***! I'm taking my time finishing, I don't want this to end.
