Hello and welcome! My name is Christi and I am a TH-cam taught seamstress during quarantine! I will attempt (and I do mean attempt!) to show step by step videos on repurposing old clothes to new clothes, how to making alterations, sew items from scratch, show easy patterning, and maybe even some thrift flips. Whew!
This channel may be a little different from others because I have lost weight, but still have some booty and leg challenges that are not easy to dress. Also, I am going to mess up a lot. A Sewing Tribute to My Co-Star, Rosco
My beloved Co-Star, Rosco, recently passed away. I loved this little boy more than I can explain. He was always by my side, as you can see in many of my videos. So much, that I made him my Co-Star early on. I have a Rosco-sized hole in my heart that still hurts and I cannot believe he is gone. He lived a full life of 14 years and brought so much joy and love to my house. He was such a good boy - always well-behaved and always happy! I loved his little, wiggly tail and his sweet face and spots. I miss you so much, baby bear.

I will probably write more than one comment on this as I've now referred to it... lets see... 3-5x per day for 10 days. So far. So I can safely say '30 to 50 times'. As someone whos eyes are bigger than their skill level, with a (slight!:( ) learning disability- I just had to at this point stop&say: at the 15:00 mark in this video, the face and comment you made, no joke, has helped me have the strength to move on- that exact specific part of the original instructional video has actually upset me(Im sorry to admit but it is what it is, despite how very grateful I am for the beautiful tutorial the patternmaker made for us) - At this specific spot, before seeing your video, I watched over and over including slow motion and literally said out loud: 'What the actual F(...)? Are there 5 steps that just magically happened? Am I stupid and everyone else knows wtf is going on? because I dont😭' Just seeing someone else with more experience than me go 'wtf?' Made me feel so validated. Furthermore stopping to pour myself a drink😂😭 I will comment again when I finally get it right. (Im on my 3rd try). I dont know if youll ever see this, but if you do, please know that your video has supplemented the original video to the point where someone out there is watching it every day and will eventually have a dress. Thank you so much.
I love everything about this comment and am SO happy that I’m not the only ones who struggles! Kind of the basis for my whole channel is seeing the smooth, professional videos out there that make it look so easy, then when you actually try it - it never goes as planned! I try to always include my errors (and how I fixed them - not always the correct fix, but a fix that works!) to hopefully help someone who struggles like I did, and still do! I greatly appreciate your comment, more than you know, and hope that you continue to update me on your progress. Not sure if you’ve seen the full video, but I had to make a sequel to size the waist correctly to fit. So yes, the struggle is real, but does make a beautiful dress in the end. You can do it! Just pour more wine and push on through step by step 😁

I dont have this pattern but love the video just for the clear explanation on how to finish things in a neater (more expensive looking way). I will probably draft this myself so it fits more perfectly - I also am not too keen on patterns.

The length just depends on how long is comfortable on your back. You can always cut them, so better to order longer than shorter.
Rosco Died Today. He's was 14. He is missed. We loved him so much.
Rosco wasn’t only a pet. He was so much more. A member of the family, a goofy friend, and he gave so much love. He was very much my husband’s dog, but his heart was so big that he attached himself to me, too. He always checked on me, was my food-motivated kitchen dog, and constant restroom companion. He made our lives better and has left a hole in our hearts. I miss you and love you, baby bear.

I have never used a kit (I'm too cheap) and have used a couple of different methods but not this one exactly. I am pinning this so I can find it when I need it.
I buy my kits off Amazon and they are pretty affordable there! Although I’m usually doing this as an alteration for a client and can pass the cost to them. They are just limited in colors, which is why I made this one from the hem! Let me know how it turns out!

You are a life saver...I'm altering a vest that needs to be done by TOMORROW. eek! yes I procrastinated way way too long... All the other videos on this topic are tailoring from a pattern and its just not translating in my brain to a premade garment. Thankfully, this vest, looks exactly the same as that bodice, same seam, same angle and maybe even the way its gapping is the same on my client as yours. Phew! Thank You Ma'am! For adding the modesty panel, would you just sort of combine it with one of the side panels and sew it in the same way?
Yes! Please check out my other alterations videos to see what that looks like. Some of the kits come already sewn to the modesty panel.

I hope you'll see this as this video is older. I have a question. I'm replacing a zipper in a bridesmaid dress, but the corset kit is about 3 inches or so too long. It looked like you also had extra. Did you just align the top of the kit with the top of the dress? I think you did.
Hi! Yes, I lined up the top so that the nice manufactured edge was showing. Then cut (don’t use your fabric scissors!) the excess off the bottom. I left a half inch extra of the fabric, trim the boning to the finished length, then just fold over the fabric twice and sew to finish the edge that’s hidden inside the dress. Hope this helps! Could you skip the boning?
Hi! You can if you don’t have boning, but it really helps keep the structure of the corset. Otherwise it might be floppy and not look as finished.
Love your complete and easy to follow directions for adding a corset to a bridesmaid dress that it too small. It is coming together perfectly. My tip for turning the loops; I use a 2 and 1/2 “ plastic needle. Securely tie a heavy thread to needle and loop end. It pulls through easily. Thank you for your uTube video 😊

Some seamstress beeswax run lightly on the thread stops those annoying tangles. As for the tangles on the button tape, a blunt needle for knits might have worked. Amazed you got all that dress from 3 yards!

How long did you make the corset sting that you lace through the corset?
Since I was using existing fabric from the bottom of the dress, I didn’t measure but rather used as much as I could! It was probably roughly 8 feet.

Hello! I used my regular sewing foot and a sturdier needle for all the layers. Sorry - I don’t recall exactly which one as it awhile ago!
