Pretty obvious that this was pushed on by THQ Nordic who bought the studio soon after the first game was released. We have seen this song and dance before. They are required to insert DEI nonsense into the game, bet they even wore forced to hire DEI hires. The contract most likely requires employees to cheerlead DEI decisions and claim they came up with it themselves and were not influenced or forced to protect the parent company from backlash. This game will have a little, but the next game will be full on in your face about it. Again, seen this song and dance before. I will still get this game as it looks like it will be very little, but the next game will most likely be on my do not order list as it will most likely go full DEI.

Despite looking forward to it i will not be buying Avowed. I am a BIG fan of Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2. (I have 190 hours in the 2nd one) but Matt Hansen, its arts director talked about "crusty white men". I am in my late 40s, have a family and a home, just a regular gamer but these comments have no place in a business (if I said that to a client, I would lose my job )and so I will be voting with my wallet. I have a huge backlog and so I will not be buying Obsidian products anymore since they don't want my money. 1

A bit of fact-checking to this desinfo video which is part of a smear campaign: - KCD1 was never christian game nor a crusader simulator (it's situated in 14th century christian Kingdom of Bohemia, therefore the christian greetings which were common in that period) - Warhorse is not a christian studio (there may be individual Christians working there, but their mission is to just make games for gamers, not to share the Gospel) - Both KCD games portay life of in a medieval sacralist Bohemia which was predominantly Roman Catholic (it takes places before protestant Reformation) - Daniel Vavra is not a christian and never was (he's actually a neo-pagan, enjoyer of a satanic literature and death metal) - Henry is christian in the sense of sacralism (everyone born to the Bohemian society in that period was baptized and considered to be a christian since birth) - Henry was never a good christian boy in KCDI. He had option to kill everyone he met, steal everything, commit adultery, be drunkard etc. - Henry is young adult in the first game and now that he is maturing, devs added minor option in a skippable cutscene to romance a same-sex - Warhorse Studios hates Christianity in a sense that every other worldly non-christian company hates the Christians (by your own standard) - They don't promote any religion. The game is artistic and somewhat realistic depiction of Bohemia in medieval period (most Czech people today are actually atheists and agnostics) - Warhorse is not funded by Blackrock, KCDII is fully a vision of it's creative director Daniel Vavra - Henry was never canonically straight (there was no cannon regarding his sexuality - middle european people don't even think in your american gender categories) - It's an RPG (Henry was never spotless puritan white knight fighting evil, you could choose the way you play and the new game only broadens the options) - KCDII is not woke by any sensible standard neither is Daniel Vavra - Frst game was crowdfunded, that's why it lacked more RPG options (such as more romance options) - You purposely didn't include Daniel's reasonable response on X as to why they added the new romance options and Musa to the game - Musa is not Bohemian native and is basically a visitor of King Sigismund as a part of his invading army (he was added to spite the woke crowd, not to appease them) - Musas words in those screenshots are taken out of context to further smear Warhorse (of course muslims belive they treat their women the best - that doesn't mean it's true) What you are witnessing is anti-woke cultists eating their own and there will be inevitable pushback. Choice is important so I'm willing to compromise and I'll reconsider buying KCD2 when I see an established gay/lesbian character in any western AAA IP that is changed to be one that has a player option to make him or her straight.... not bi but straight.

I'd say giving a previously straight character a gay romance is woke. It doesn't matter that its optional and not forced. The fact that they decided to even add that and turn a straight character into a bisexual one is just disgusting. Saying its optional is like saying micro transactions are optional or a particular sidequest in a game is optional. Its not a huge deal to me, but it is pretty clear evidence that they bent the knee to the far left people and their demands. I mean they even have a token black character there. You can't get much more clear evidence than that.

There were very few people overreacting and most of those few appear to have cooled down already. What we now have the most is a considerable amount of people just quitting in their honest shape. They were hurt too much by their recent experiences with woke agenda pushing, and even if with KCD they are few if the publishers insist in pushing that view to the studios then Warhorse will fall into the categories of Bioware, then Rocksteady, then Firewalker.

So the question these devs need to answer is if that's worth it or not.
