Who buys cheap tires if they drive for performance?? Lol bad review get some Michelin Pilot Sport Cups you wont be disappointed 😊
First of all it's a daily driver and we currently have 6 inches of snow on the ground, so your logic is flawed there- no summer only tire will ever touch this thing. Second, it was an experiment as clearly stated in the video. Third, you think an $800 Eclipse would be my vehicle of choice if I had $1200 for a set of tires? You're a smart one- maybe don't run your mouth off assumptions next time...
Thanks for the video though , the Dorman did stop my leak which was dripping to my alternator, no more leaking
Do you need sealant ?
No, but you do need to clean both mating surfaces thoroughly.
@ I just changed the gaskets , I didn’t change the screen though . I installed the Dorman oe solutions. Do you know if there’s engine light will come on ?
See my responses to this question in the pinned comment thread...
@@92kbuilds-mn2lkI didn’t end up changing it and this morning I got my engine light on , I don’t het it had to do with maybe the screen ? I also read torquing the bolts to 6ft could help too
You asked me about sealant after you already installed it- does that mean you used sealant? Because if you did then that's probably your problem there- you gunked it up...
Good video
Would this beat the wrx?
Yeah it was faster
So ive been dealing with for awhile now. And keep getting the code. Howd it go after. Ive heard u have to relearn the crank sensor . But didnt know about the sweet spot.
Car has been 100% ever since this, still driven weekly. There is no "sweet spot" or relearning of the crank sensor- the only thing that matters is that the cam gears and belt are all lined up properly (see my other videos). This was literally the first start after this repair in the video and as you can see it ran perfect immediately, no fiddling with anything to get it to run right. If it's right, it's right...
Man I love that car hopefully there still around when i become an adult
Got the same issue with an Outlander 04 model. Parts apparently not made any more or any by oem. Any suggestions
Yo nice ride with the 4.7 H.O., I want to get one of those. What parts are you needing? The thermostat housing water outlet? The gasket? The water pump? Rock Auto has everything- look up your vehicle and go to "cooling". Looks like everything is the same (for these parts) as the non-H.O. 4.7 (what my 01 Durango had). Not knowing what part you're after, the brands I trust in those catagories currently showing on my screen are Fel-Pro, Mahle, Doorman, Gates, Aisin, ACDelco, & Mopar. Not everything is the same since the H.O. is higher compression and different intake cams etc, but some of the basic parts like these can be cross referenced with the Durangos, Dakotas, and Rams and other Jeeps with the 4.7 V8. The H.O. vesion you have is just a suped up version of the regular 4.7 in those... So if you can't find something for the Jeep, check the Dodges if the part is the same for the H.O. I've had to do this for a Ford Probe I had before with the Mazda V6- Ford said part nor longer made or available, but Mazda still had it for the MX-6...
Is it still running well after?
No! Did for like a week then back to the same ol-same-ol. We have a new one on the way, will be posting an update video when installed. I'm getting codes for other stuff too like can-bus issues...
thank you so much! I have the exact problem and you helped me a LOT!
most people dont believe me that this is a great car
They are- best in class, or at least they were. I did my research for years before I bought. One of the few cars that was recall free up until last year and even then it was mild stuff that never even affected us nor did we notice. Still took it in and they performed everything in a few hours and gave it back.
Say alternator one more time please
All 💩 🍅 er
Lol its slower then bmw 530 wagon :D
$685 plus tax in Ontario from dealership. 😢😢😢
I just showed you how to do it for less than $100...
What are your future plans for the Eclipse modification wise?
Well everything is restricted by budget obviously- with deep pockets she would be boosted already lol. But at a minimum, things I know I'm going to get done on it for sure modification wise and not repairs, are new aftermarket headlights and a cold air intake. I would love to get headers but nobody makes them for this car anymore unless you want to spend $1400 to get a pair from overseas. I might have a custom aluminum crank pulley made for it since nobody makes one anymore. Everything for this car is discontinued, like the RIPP supercharger kit I really wanted. I would also like to find some way to get a custom/mail order tune done on the car, but not if it's going to be like $1k. So for sure headlights and a CAI, maybe a lightened crank pulley, and possibly a tune if I can find it. But it's got a distributor so I don't know if I need adjustable cam gears to go along with the tune or what- if anyone even makes them. Maybe I should just spray the damn thing and call it done lol.
@ a turbo setup would be awesome on it. I didn’t realize that headers would be so expensive for that car. That’s crazy. Do you plan on any weight reduction?
Nah I have kids so I need my back seats lol. It's a daily driver along with the RSX, I sawp back and forth. If it was just a race car then sure, but let's be honest a stock 3g Eclipse isn't a race car lol.
@ I gotcha. I hadn’t really thought about, but that’s actually a pretty rare car. I don’t recall seeing an Eclipse in my area in months or longer.
Yeah used to see them everywhere around here, now hardly ever. They have all been wrecked and scrapped. Same with the LT1 f-bodies- rarely see them now but they used to be everywhere. A freaken Probe is more rare than a Ferarri or Viper now (owned 3). Seems like any sports car more than 20 years old is scarce, which is part of the reason I started this channel- to build/run em, gotta work on my collection. I never really paid attention before but a lot of people were checking the car out today while I was in town. Mine's actually somewhat nice looking- most of the ones that are left are trashed and look like shit.
Good video! As an owner of a WRX myself, love seeing this stuff.
might be your fuel injectors
Alter
Definitely cant agree with this review. Got these tires on my scatpack & srt8. Multiple sets I've been through on my srt8 & each lasted at least a year & a half which for me is like 20k miles or little more. Hard driving on mine always at 40 psi. Maybe something wrong with your car 😂 because they actually did me well for many years.
I replaced my spool valve myself, its been over 80k miles and still running solid, i say replace the whole spool valve myself it really isnt that hard, its just tedious, moving the rocker arm van seem scary but you can just wiggle it into the spool Valve.
So that’s what it’s supposed to sound like
With a hole in the flexpipe yeah lol
Also disable the vcm system with SVCM controller if you want the engine to last longer
Almost 15 minutes and you didn’t actually show how to remove or install the sensors. Wtf bro?
You unplug and unscrew them, then screw and plug in the news ones- it literally couldn't be more simple BRO. I even showed the tool I used to unscrew them with and discussed other options as well- how much hand holding do you need? If you don't even know how to unscrew something then you probably shouldn't be touching a car...
@ you have 800 subscribers. Maybe just think about the feedback? People like to see the actual process being performed. Not just cut to cut.
No, * *you* * like it. I have another channel with 66k subs and people constantly complained that my repair videos were too long because I showed too much of the 1st grade level stuff like unscrewing and unplugging stuff. I do youtube for a living, my other channel literally pays all my bills- I just started this second channel which is why I "only" have 800 subs so far... So I know what I'm doing. Above all, I've learned everyone complains about everything no matter how I do it, so I'll just keep doing it the way I want since I can't please everybody anyway, and since doing what I wanted is already paying my bills...
@ lol I’m not reading all that. Your video sucked. I don’t care. What you gonna do about it?
Well maybe your 2 year old attention span right there is why you're too dumb to know how to unscrew something without daddy holding your hand...
Waiting impatiently ...
Sorry I'm not rich? 🤷♂️
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk 😄, I love your videos, and just cant wait to see the next one .. Really helped me working on my Eclipse. I love this car.
One take away from the video is that honda uses synthetic power steering fluid. Unless its says formulated for honda regular power steering fluids are bad for the power steering system
Great catch. I read the part of the bottle that said "for Toyota & other imports" and did not see that lower down, seperate, that is states not for Honda or Acura. Pinned your comment to the top for everyone else that might think what I used is ideal. Luckily it was only a top off so there's not a lot of it in there. I may flush it out at some point, thanks again for the heads up.
Great video
Hey men i just want to let you know that your awesome. Thanks for this kind of video keep it up
Thanks brother
Dude that’s not supposed to be bare copper 🤦🏻♂️ Super misleading, that’s a rubber insulation sheathing it has , go buy a new MAP sensor and it’s not going to be bare copper. This video is going to mess some noobs car up 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Well that's weird that it fixed the problem for a few days then. I assumed it was supposed to be bare since after spraying it the copper started to show and the rest came off pretty easy. I've seen them bare before also on other cars, or maybe there was clear glass around them- wasn't aware the WRX is different. Also why then doesn't the MAF sensor I showed have this little rubber insulator? It looks itentical to the MAP after I cleaned it off... I'll pin your comment to the top until we replace it and post an updated video. Thanks for the heads up, though I could have done with a little less of these 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
You DO NOT have to remove bottom part, only remove the vtec solenoid with 3 bolts.
Yeah that's literally what I did in the video bro- that solves the most common top leak that was covered in this video...
Would have loved to see what else you had in plan for this car
Was eventually going to turbo it, would have been one heck of a sleeper and probably the only turbo Rio in the states...
@ i’ve been thinking about putting a veloster turbo on mine but i use it as my daily so im not willing to risk blowing up my engine😂
swapping it to a veloster engine/transmission would be the best option
I looked into that before having the same thought. Unfortunately all the wiring and couplers are completely different between Hyundai and Kia, so you would have to have all kinds of custom wiring done to make the swap possible- it's not a drop in plug and play swap like you would think it is. So what you would have to pay someone to cut and splice and wire and solder everything to make it work in the Rio, you may as well just build the Rio engine and turbo it for less headache- either way is very expensive due to this, which is probably why it's never been done. My original thought was buy a wrecked Veloster Turbo and just swap it in for cheap, but unfortunately it's not that simple...
@ For sure, but for now i’m rocking a CAI, Muffler Delete, 60mm elantra and some 16 inch alloy rims. throttle body. Would have loved to get it tuned but i can’t seem to find people that know how to tune a kia rio. next mod im doing is gutting out the cats and installing catch cans, installing coilovers and sway bar ill have to do once i get the money
Nice job. I just don't have the patience for that kind of work anymore. Living in the rust belt makes even supposed easy jobs challenging to near impossible at times.
Great video. Will be doing my Rio's soon.
Question how were the o rings on the heater pipes. I just pulled my housing off and one of the pipes had 1 o ring and the other had 2 with rtv kinda sketch to me but I was wondering how urs was
It's been a while but if I remember correctly it was just the one- I've never seen 2 in a row lol. Then consider the fact that there was rtv where they were doubled up and I think you have your answer- someone was trying to stop a leak.
I’m making an exhaust for the eclipse, it’s gonna be out both sides going up with the fenders, I have all the pipes ready, just gotta do the welding.
Would like to see a video of that 👍
@ it’ll be posted on my socials when it’s done, I’ve had 5 different exhaust options on this car and they’ve all sounded amazing, I had a preview of a single out pointed down and HOLY MOLY the pops increased by so much
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk it’s done lol 😝
Don't see anything in your channel...
good info thanks for posting
💪🏾💪🏾That’s good that they actually want to see more of the Eclipse. I’m surprised they don’t want to see the WRX but I’ll assume because it’s not as rare as this car maybe .
Well I started this channel with the Eclipse, and the Eclipse actually existed well before youtube did- even this generation of them. So there's not a whole lot of videos on them like there is with the WRX & RSX. It's funny because there are way more RSX videos even though it was around at the same time as this Eclipse, but that's mainly due to the K20 engine in them being literally the most popular 4cyl engine ever in modern day. I'm competing with tens of thousands of other videos when I post a WRX or RSX video, but not so with the Eclipse. It's a small crowd though because not too many people are still rockin these unlike the other two cars...
I recently did the rear suspension using your video as a reference. If your looking for some suggestions I have a few projects lined up for my 3g eclipse. Replacing the trim moldings Replacing the seat with a bucket seat and harness Coilovers Custom grill for the front Interior lighting Sound system/ sub install Cleaning the interior or engine bay Engine dressing like Replacing hoses Restoring paint Cat back Exhaust
It's more of a budget thing than anything- several items you listed is stuff it either needs done or I want to do to it. I definately need some paint correction, have a lot of rock chips that are coin size rust spots on the hood. The freaking hatch dumps water into my trunk everytime I lift it because the trim/seal around the glass has dry rotted and cracked, allowing it to collect the water until I lift it. A few more things I'll be getting on this spring that I forgot to mention in the video is replacing the hatch shocks, restoring/replacing the headlights, fixing my exhaust leak under the engine bay, and replacing the brakes which may include painting the calipers. I also really need to get the transmission rebuilt- the guy before me ruined all the syncro's in it...
Great news!
Hi.. how many oxygen sensors have Hyundai santafee 2.7 v6 2008 model?
😂
😁
How many cars do you have? You have a variety for sure!
Not all mine but 5. Need a muscle car in the collection...
The WRX will always keep the content coming 😂, it’s a work of art.
Dude having Subaru's has made me hate Subaru's because they never want to run right. Now I understand the Evo crowd...
😂😂
With the Dorman gasket, do you still need to replace the wire filter ?
I'm having a hard time remembering for 100% certainty, but I want to say we used the Dorman screen/net as it came. Again if I recall correctly, the screen looked the same on the Dorman I thought, whereas on the first one it looked different (smaller mesh holes). In general I trust Dorman to make it right, as I have been buying their parts for decades and they are a well known name in the industry.
I bought one in may I drove it from Florida to Pa. I finally got finished replacing the broken dash and fixing the heat. I replaced the suspension on the front and back, rotors and pads, front lower arm and ball joint, new tires, new pioneer radio. I’m finally driving it.
Sounds like my story lol. Months of work before it was finally able to be daily driven...
Can confirm Looks like the oil is leaking from the dipstick it’s not Never saw oil on the ground it goes straight into the alternator and wreaks havoc on it.
Farts. The most funny thing on earth
My duaghter sure seems to think so lol

November 2024 still no gasket sold on its own...Had to buy the whole solenoid just to get the OEM gasket
Yup, that's what I keep tryin to tell these muffs in the comments...
@92kbuilds-mn2lk my son works at a Honda dealership in the service department and he tried every which way to get me the OEM gasket on its own and couldn't. Ended up buying a whole new spool valve to get the gaskets. Just replaced it today and found your video showing the removing of the screen. At least I'll know for next time.
That's what I keep trying to tell these goons in the other comments, that the "Honda" gaskets they are finding are conterfeits- there is a reason you can only get them on ebay and amazon and not from Honda. Thank you for the feedback, I will reference your comments the next time somebody challanges me on this again...
I've replaced this twice (with Honda parts), it's gotten to the point where I keep one assembly on hand for the next leak.
