Honda EU2000i Carb Overhaul
มุมมอง 222K11 ปีที่แล้ว
Removing, cleaning and reassembly of carburetor hoping to repair the erratic idle that so many are having. UPDATE: A few of you were talking about the main jet being upside down. I pulled it apart again, and there is only one possible way for it to go in. If the compressed air doesn't pop it out you can push it out with something soft, like wood brass or plastic. I used a filed down toothbrush ...

Great video, thanks for putting this up so many years ago. My tiny inline filter was the cause of my fuel problem.

Excellent quality and works great as an alternate power source for my Winnebago RV when shore power is not available. Also great for Florida storm season and our fluctuating power. On propane, this starts up easily and no messy gas to deal with, very clean and easy to operate. Build quality is better than expected should last for years.

This one had issues due to carburetor being gummed up? Looked pretty darn clean to me. Geez doesn't take much I guess. Can running premium help avoid these cleaning intervals? Thanks for vid.

Just followed your instructions and it runs perfectly. I bought the aftermarket carburetor that includes the spark plug, air filter, and inline fuel filter (didn't install) for like $34.00. worked great. Used the old white idle motor thing on top. Thanks for sharing.

Great video although someone had been into my carburetor prior to my purchase and completely destroyed the bowl bolt threads minus about two threads. When I went into it, it had two threads holding the bowl on. Is there an aftermarket carburetor web site that you would recommend to replace this carburetor. Also, I'm trying to find a site that will identify the age (by serial number of this EU2000i unit. serial # EAAJ2646061. Do I win a prize for being the 1000 visitor on your webpage~~lol~~Thanks for your input.

I was doing okay until I got to the point of getting the jet (under the main jet) with the compressed air can I don't have. I tried spraying carb cleaner in with the straw a few times but nothing. It's half hour drive to get this can of compressed air so guess I need to do that, even the local mechanic had none and he tried with compressed air and it wouldn't budge. Next issue that stopped me was what to do if nothing sprays out of them......you say it should spray out but not what to do if it doesn't. How do I clean those? Luckily mine has spray coming out some of the 3 small rear ones (hard to tell if all three are spraying out or if it's only coming from 1 or 2). It comes out the big one too. Thanks in advance.

  • @shavedape

I did this and though I bought this new in 2005 or so, though didn't use it much (so its likely my carb is dirty and I'll go by your other excellent video on that), and I have no screen so there never was one......did certain years not have a screen? There's a slim chance some mechanic removed it but that's not very professional to throw away a spark arrestor designed to prevent forest fires. Not very good for business either not to just clean it since I'd be back for cleaning in the future. They should also let the customer know if they do such a thing and I only brough it in for an oil change and to get it running. They put Sea-Foam through it to save time/cost for me and it improved things a bit but still runs only on part choke. So maybe they tossed the screen except they weren't a Honda dealer to know there was even a screen there. And in fact there possibly wasn't.

Well done and thanks - this is a few years old, but will add in hopes it helps someone -- I have two of these and using this video replaced fuel filter and cleaned spark screen; I also had to replace carbs with OEM replacements because of old fuel -- also replaced spark plug. First one purred like a kitten. Did the same thing to the 2nd one and it did not crank. Checked carb and dry. Opened front back up like I was going to change the fuel filter and inspected -- pulled off fuel line and fuel did come out of tank. Upon close inspection, there is a pulse type fuel pump on inside wall just above the on off switch. There is also a pit valve that is connected to the same fuel line the fuel filter is in. The pit valve appears to be working, so the culprit seems to be the pulse fuel pump. My guess is the fuel varnished inside the fuel pump and it is not working (we are talking a 10 dollar part but a real PITA to get to, I was able to remove mine by opening the front like you were going to change the fuel filter, then I took the two screws out of the handle, pulled rubber loose around fuel tank, carefully pulled apart just a little so as not to break anything, and removed fuel tank -- then I was able to get to fuel pump and remove -- will go ahead and change the pit valve also just in case. Now, since I know the fuel filter is there, I am not going to remove the OEM fuel filter and put a in-line one in (I had planned on doing so). The fuel filter needs to be in front of the fuel pump (although it did not seem to help me in this case). I also learned something else -- The on and off switch on front bottom right of generator is both a manual fuel valve and an electronic kill switch. There is a connector right inside the generator on the bottom below air filter with a black and green wire . I can unplug it (that is the electronic kill switch) and then turn the on and off switch to off and 3 minutes later it will run out of what fuel is left in the carb. -- Then I can plug the connector back in for next time, or if I want to kill it right away. Little more hassle than putting in a fuel valve, but the little I run the thing, no biggie.

Hello, curious if replacing the fuel pump worked for you. I have the same issue with no fuel getting to the carb. I replaced the fuel pump but still having the same issue. Of note when I removed the fuel line there was no filter. would that be a reason for the fuel to not get to the carb? The pit valve seems to be working properly. thanks

Not one of you guys in any of the eu2000i carb repair can get the long jet properly install, some dont bother with it, in your case you say take the smaller end and put thar first with the flat head in then you have real fast part flipping going you cant make out how it went it. Why bother

If you add an inline filter you should install it between the tank and the fuel pump otherwise any gunk that gets into the tank could run through the pump and damage it. That's why the original filter is located where it's at, to protect the pump, the petcock and the carb.
