Halo Reach Cosplay Tutorial | Waist Armor
Learn how to make Halo cosplay armor with the next episode of the Building a Reach Spartan series! In this episode I show you how to build the cod piece, a.k.a. waist armor. It's not the hardest part of the armor to make fortunately, but there are a few details missing from the template so it's worth paying close attention :-)
Some eagle eyed folks may notice that I forgot to include a small part of the armor in the tutorial... truth is idk what happened to that footage. But I'm 100% confident you clever folks can figure it out! Leave a comment if you find out what it was :-)

    Thanks for going into so much detail on blade sharpness! Most people, even outside of cosplay, will say you need to keep blades sharp, but it's hard to tell at what threshold that is and what some of the signs you'll get once you need to replace the blade are. Super helpful seeing the comparison side by side and other cues like audio. Especially showing that sharpening the blade still isn't as good as a new blade since that might be a first response to foam quickly dulling blades.

    I'm trying to download the files, but the files are known as .PDO. Can you make the files into PNG or a PDF. If your using some program to open these files feel free to let me know. I wanna build this thing.

    • @RandomRangerCosplay
      @RandomRangerCosplay ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand what you're trying to do, but I don't think that's what you want. The reason .pdo is used is because this is what allows someone to scale the armor to fit them, which is absolutely crucial when making something from Halo. If you have a PC, you should be able to install a free program called pepakura viewer and open the files there, scale them to your size, and then print.

    • @RandomRangerCosplay
      @RandomRangerCosplay ปีที่แล้ว

      If you open in Pepakura Viewer you can rescale the part to fit you. Unfortunately, knowing what size to scale it to is a bit of an art as well as science and I haven't had the chance to make a video on this yet. If you struggle with the scaling I'd recommend looking for assistance on 405th.com as it's too much to explain in youtube comments

      I used 10mm. I like it because it's a good thickness for making a part look tanky without too much work, and the 10 plays well if I want to do some quick mental math. 8mm likely isn't that much different, plenty of people have made full builds with ~6mm.

      It's definitely possible! Indeed there are a few differences on the female armor, most notably on the waist armor and hand plates.
