I am 67 years old, rather shy, and with a wealth of life experiences that I would love to share with you.
I had always been very fit, going to the gym 5-6 times a week and until I reached the age of 55 this had always been the case. Unfortunately when I reached 55 I was beset with numerous health problems one after the other.
I created this channel in the hopes that it will resonate with those of you who have had similar experiences or are going through or are experiencing the same symptoms as I did. Perhaps knowing how I coped and eventually got my diagnosis will help you achieve your own.
I also love making art, working in my garden, keeping fit as I get older, and talking about the trials and tribulations of daily life as we go through the aging process.
I hope that you find the things that I talk about interesting and if you have any suggestions as to what you might to see in the future they would be warmly welcomed.

How My channel grew from 111 Subscribers to 4600 in 10 Weeks
How I Grew From 111 to 4600 Subs in Months: My Journey & Tips
I started my TH-cam channel on May 31, 2024, and struggled for nine weeks to reach 111 subscribers, with 40 of them coming from a shoutout by LindaTee70. By January 22, 2025, my subscribers had grown to 4,644. I shared my challenges, including dealing with poor subscriber growth, realising my habits of purchasing unnecessary items, and my first major success with a decluttering video that gained 455 new subscribers. I revamped my approach, learned from other creators, and created content that resonated with my audience. I also shared personal stories, adopted productivity habits, and leveraged tools like Descript and Methylene Blue, which improved my cognitive functions. This video encapsulates my journey, the importance of continuous learning, and the changes I made to grow my channel.

Is Your Social Media Feed STRESSING You Out?
Yet another great post, Imi. Quirky? Hmm, original and real more like. You have progressed so far and so well. I have no doubt that you will continue to do so. Inspirational for sure. Thanks for this.
Thank you Urbanmeister. Last night's video almost didn't get posted because I seem to have run out of storage 😳 on my iMac. I'm off to see the iMac man today to get some more installed. Videos, it appears, take up an awful lot of storage space!
Hi Imi. I found this really interesting as my subs have been the same for weeks and weeks. Will try the end screen thing, that makes sense and might help... Thanks for all the mentions - my little fledgling has flown to great heights. Brilliant xx
Hi darling, the end screen thingy, you don't even have to have to have the same thing as I made. If you get to the point at which you're nearly ready to publish, the page where it says to add things like subtitles, end screen and cards, I just click add end screen and it takes you to a page full of different formats to choose from and obviously I choose the one with two videos and the little round circle. Then once you've clicked that, TH-cam will upload videos for you or you can change them yourself. I have 1 playlist and one video which I used to let TH-cam choose for me but at the moment I've put the Jo Wildsmith POD video in it. Then at the end of whatever video you're doing, during the last 20+ seconds, the other videos will come on screen. The reason I mention you so often is because you helped me sooooo much darling. Your advice to me was brilliant and I don't think I would be here now without you, lots of love, Your little fledgling 🐥 xxx
You are such an inspiration! I had been doing YT for one year already when you started and I first met you. You have skyrocketed past me! We adore you because you are an adorable human. You are real and authentic and so transparent. I sometimes ask myself the same question. Why don’t people like me? I mean you do! You love me❤ I appreciate YOU Imi. I love being quirky with you! Methylene blue? I think I need some of that! My favorite videos of yours are when you share your life stories. I do my videos for the same reason. So my children can go back one day and revisit our life. Imi you have always my biggest supporter. I appreciate that you see something in me. I’m going to finish the POD video you made and also the collaboration. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience with me.
The methylene blue has been amazing for me! I'm your biggest supporter because you are utterly brilliant and adorable! Of course I love everything you do! xxx
I love your idea of your "fantasy personas" I have a few myself - artist, writer and now, a TH-camr. I really enjoyed this video and have now subscribed to your channel. I think you're someone I would like to have by my side during my youtube journey. Thank you for being here!
I visited your channel darling and of course I subscribed immediately! We "Girls of a Certain Age" have to stick together! Once I learn how to interview/collaborate with others on Descript, would you like to do something? I'm very keen to do this with other small channels because it will give them exposure. Linda gave me so much help when my channel only had 40 subscribers and I believe in the saying "Do Good Recklessly!" Imogen xxx
Hi, I’m 62 and also diagnosed as ‘quirky’ 😂 my equivalent of your fabric obsession has manifested itself as photography equipment (unused) lighting equipment (unused)….. fabric for crafts (unused and sat in a blanket box) and floristry equipment (unused) 🤣 …. I also have a room in my cottage that I call the Fairy Room as it’s so small which is my dumping ground…..Time to declutter I think! Xxx
Oh my goodness Camille your head pieces are beautiful!!!! I used to do millinery and appreciate the amount of work that goes into those little works of art. Yes, it sounds as if quite a few of us in the Number One Ladies Club have the "Quirky" vein running straight through us 😂. Good luck with the decluttering darling! xxxx
A delightful post, Camille. It not only resonated but also made me smile - 'quirkies' rule!.
Wow what a journey Imogen, I admire you 👏🌹☀️ you did well and I was there from the beginning. Congratulations again 🎉🎉🎉. Learning is growing and youtube is a school for us grown ups, isn’t it? I just turned 60 recently and I feel more excited about what I’m going to do next than before - because I love the process (well sometimes I hate it). I’m curious about your future products on Red Bubble and your future videos of painting process. You are also a great story teller. And you got so much better at talking to the camera (not that it was bad before, but you seem much more comfortable. I also struggle enormously with that. I need real people to talk to. Well I believe I’ll get used to it as well. And I won’t speak about subscription anymore, I didn’t then I did and I won’t you’re right 😅. Good luck with the prints 💫
Thank you darling! Currently I'm working on 3 paintings and filming the process as I go on. It took me a bit of trial and error finding a way to film it satisfactorily, but I think I'm there now. Mind you, I think the editing will be a nightmare! xxx
You are so right.
It is so nice to see you again. Always a pleasure to spent time with you. So glad you have so many followers. It is always nice to have plans for the future.....stay beautiful my darling friend.....MINDY
Thank you darling girl. I was going to film today, however, I appear to have run out of storage on my iMac! So today I shall take my computer in to the local tech man and get some more installed. Video, clearly takes up a lot of space!!!😳 Much love Imogen 🩷 xxx
I love your analogy about offering another cup of tea and a biscuit! Yes! This is so true. ❤ I love my biscuits 😂
Oh me too….and lemon drizzle cake, 🍰 chocolate cake….well cake of any flavour apart from coffee ☺️😳🩷🩷🩷
This video is full of wisdom! It is encouraging to hear your journey here on TH-cam. I am still trying to figure myself out and working on my authenticity in each video. It does take a lot of courage to open up. You are an inspiration to me in doing so. Your life story video serious was moving and enlightening I use the word "so" way too much. I wonder if I am doing it in my normal conversation or if it is just on camera! I am going to check out the program you mentioned that can help remove those types of words. I need it. Being purposeful in creating a better video each week for my viewers is a good goal. There is a steep learning curve when it comes to TH-cam. I hope to continue to improve and grow as you have. Thank you for this insightful and helpful video. Have a wonderful evening! ❤
Did you see that I put in a video card that if people click on it they will be redirected to your channel darling? TH-cam is a MASSIVE learning curve for sure! Do you watch Virginia Kerr or Alexa Saarenoja? They have both taught me so much! Much love to you all, Imogen xxx
@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc awe, I didn't see that! So sweet and thank you!❄️💗
I’d love to know what you put on your skin.. it’s wonderfully clear and smooth ❤
I think it's the lighting and make up darling. Just look at my last GRWM video and you'll see for yourself! Without make up, my skin looks entirely different. Just look at my last GRWM video and you'll see for yourself! xxx
Do you have any valuable tips for us to learn? Please leave a comment and perhaps share any tips you might have for small channels? Much love to you all, Imogen xxx❤
Great video. Tip, don't worry about the audience too much. Just be authentic and truthful, and try not to be repetitive in your talk. Also, try to talk a little faster and don't explain yourself, your actions or give the audience too much control over your content.
Thank you for the tip, however I think this is probably the fastest video I've done...ever. I think if people wish me to speed up they will have to go to the setting and adjust my speed in the playback speed. ☺️
Can you please make a video on your beauty regime and any procedures you would recommend
In one of my recent GRWM videos I mentioned some of the products that I use on my skin, but I have to confess...that I do it for a little while and then go off the boil and forget it. I'm not a good advert for their products. Mostly, I don't bother day to day and I really do think that lighting and make up I use hides a ton of skin redness, skin tone unevenness and discolouration and also my wrinkles. Much love Imogen xxx
How lovely! When your Redbubble shop is up and running I’d love to see, could you share a link here when it’s ready? I’m still pondering about learning a new video editing app so that I can make long form videos again. You’ve inspired me, thankyou Imogen. x
I will do darling! Keep your eyes peeled 😊💜🩷 xxx
I like this vid. Well done trying to learn something new... I might not have had as much patience with you..
I don’t think even I would have patience with me! 😂🙄 xxx
@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc ...I think you could be right .
Good morning , such an amazing Lady just found your channel & have subscribed looking forward to following your content ...thank you very much from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Oh sweetheart thank you so much! If there is anything that you think you might want me to do on a video, please leave me a comment and I do my best....although I have to say, if it's about my skincare regimen then it will be the shortest video ever! 😳 xxx
Hello sweet lady.So excited for you. Extra money while you sleep sounds marvellous.May I ask what the big block white words and yellow ones are for on some of your videos ? I cannot seem to get rid of them.Is it supposed to be like this sweetie. ?.....If so I will have patience. Your hair looks extra lovely today..... lots of love xx
Hello sweetheart, those captions are baked in to the video so can’t be removed, but I haven’t put them on tonight’s video. Thank you darling for being so lovely about my hair….I’m going through a shedding phase so it’s getting very thin 😳 . Much love Imogen xxxx
Yet again, an excellent post, Imi. Great practical advice.
Thank you Urbanmeister! I’m looking forward to recording the next lesson this week. 😊
@@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc Looking forward to it!
Enjoyed watching it and Jo is a very good teacher! It’s a fun hobby
She is isn’t she! And what’s more she didn’t tell me once that I’m a numpty for needing to go so slowly! 😂 xxx
Just found this channel. I looked in the mirror today properly and saw a worried depressed 64 year old who struggles to get out of bed in the morning. I have made so many new starts its hard to be enthusiastic.
I know exactly what you mean Kat. However, I now make a conscious decision several times a day to: Straighten my back and stand upright, acknowledge EVERYTHING that is positive and possible in my life and think of all the things I’m grateful for. It really does help to reframe how I’m thinking and also feeling. It’s just turning that notch on the dial just a tiny bit to start the change. Much love darling, Imi xxx
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you darling xxx
I've already seen it. I'm very grateful for this series. I'm glad it's with two people I already watch on a regular basis. Thank you.
It will be interesting to see all of us progress! xxx

That sounds good to me. An extra income always helps. Thanks for sharing with us..blessings darling friend..............much love....MINDY
It does help doesn’t it! I’m really excited about learning all the things that Jo has already taught me and it’s just the beginning! Much love to you darling girl, Imogen xxx ♥️
Hello everyone! Join me as I learn a new skill and hopefully create a new passive income stream! If I can learn how to do Print On Demand then you can too! Why not start off 2025 with creating something that will bring in extra money while you sleep? ☺
Thank you so much for sharing Imogen! I am popping over to Jo's channel ❤
@@annmarie6732 That's wonderful ! Thank you so much! xxx🩷
I LOVED LOVED LOVED doing our first video together ❤. Canva is amazing - and so are you, Number 1 Lady! 😊
I am just editing my new upload about our joint video! It will be up later on this evening. I'm super excited about this new venture and can't wait to learn more Jo! 💜xxx
@@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc It will be fabulous! Some of your lovely subscribers have already come to find out more. This series will really help people, I think. xxxxx.
You talk very slowly. I change the speed to 2 and I like it much better for my brain. That could be a reason people leave. Just suggest that they can increase the playback speed.
I have done that before. However some people find the speed at which I talk relaxing and calming.
such a beautiful lady
Thank you so much Zdenka
So true about the shoes. I won’t even go into it. It’s a long story.😂 Plus. Giving yourself permission to let things be imperfect. No one is perfect anyway, right?❤
None of us is perfect as you say darling, and I'm glad to say I'm not trying to achieve it any more ☺️
This happened to me whilst I was in the middle of a severe allergic reaction. I lost 7 or 8 hours. I came to in the hospital. But my children tell me I still wasn't right. I had a CT scan and an MRI to rule out a TIA and was eventually told I had experienced transient global amnesia. Never heard of it before and this is the first time I have heard of someone else having it happen to them.
How interesting Suzy! I have had it happen three times and all at varying lengths. The one thing common to all three times is that I've never remembered what happened during those periods. It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only person that has had this though. xxx
@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc I had it explained to me that you stopped making memories during that time. So you can never get them back. My son rushed over whilst the ambulance was here. The paramedics thought I had severe dementia because I kept repeating the same questions over and over again. I only know because my son witnessed it and told me later. Take care, Imi. xx
Who cares if it stains your tongue? I've never noticed that.
Apparently if you add vitamin c powder to it then is negates the staining power.
Many seniors like me get up between 5 and 6 am every morning, and don't waste any time on tictoc or Instagram. Our bodies are not the same as they used be. TH-cam has been a blessing to me. Good luck with your channel. I have methylene blue but I stopped taking it. I will get back onto it.
I have noticed that since taking it I am retrieving memories that I didn't even realise I had lost! I am able to remember random things that never cease to amaze me and it has to be the Methylene Blue as that's the only thing that's changed!
I connected with so much of what you shared! Comfortable clothing has been a game-changer for me too. It’s such a relief to just feel good in what I’m wearing instead of worrying about how it looks. I’ve also been working on speaking up instead of avoiding difficult conversations. It’s not easy, but it feels so much better than bottling things up. Starting my TH-cam channel later in life has brought its own challenges, especially with comparing myself to others. I have to remind myself that my pace and style are perfectly fine. I completely get what you mean about travel being stressful. Crowds and the thought of a cruise just sound exhausting to me. It’s just not in my nature. I love your calm energy, and it’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one who struggles with looking into the camera or having a quieter presence. Thank you for sharing this; it really resonated with me.
TH-cam is not the natural fit for introverts but it does present us with challenges that we’re determined enough and strong enough to overcome. Keep up with your challenge darling, you’ll get there and be all the better for it xxx Imogen xxx
@@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc You are right, it is not a natural fit for us introverts but I'm beginning to see how it is an easier way to get our ideas across when we have plenty of time to think of what we want to say without being interrupted.
I am sorry for those poor people who habe problem with your speech speed. I have been living in UK for the last 20 years. I love the fact that you take time to articulate your thoughts, you do speak proper English and have rich vocabulary. Listening to you bring me joy and I have learnt a lot from your experiences. I am in my 40. I wish my mother could articulate and describe life like you or be like you. I wish I would have known you in my twenties. I love to listen to your stories especially when I work from home. I work in finance and the job can be boring sometimes, your videos help me to focus. All the best to you and your husband🤗
Thank you darling so much for your very kind comment. Working from home can be very isolating I know....and pouring over figures must require so much concentration! Much love Imogen xxx
Hi Imogen. I'm your verruca Aussie follower. 😂I just wanted to mention that I was born and lived in South Africa until I was 40. I'm 59 now. Mostly I wanted to mention that although my first language is English, we would have considered the beautiful way you speak as 'larny'. When I arrived in Australia, despite my grandfather being born here, I suffered immensely in my own mind about my accent. I'm a teacher and have gone on to speak on stage, deliver awards and run Professional Development. With my broad SA accent and all😅. I love how you squish the criticism. I love the way you speak. No child has NOT learnt from me because I have an accent. You're a star. 🤘🏻🌟🌟🌟
Hello Almarie, I love that you are my Australia Verruca follower! 😂 I've never been to South Africa but I do know that it's a beautiful country. I'm so sorry that you suffered because of your accent. When I went to boarding school everyone had elocution lessons which gave me my accent today which is "Received Pronunciation" or "RP" for short. We are all different and what a boring world it would be if we all looked and sounded the same! Much love to you and yours darling girl. Imogen xxx
You have inspired me to delve into the world of audiobooks, as I too am now finding it difficult to read my books. Thank you
They have been an absolute game changer for me Keran. I always make sure that I buy books read by an actor, that way they act the book rather than just read it monotonously. It makes all the difference i the world to the enjoyment.
Hi imy, i agree with many of the things you have given up , i also made myself do things which i never thought i would do like going to concerts , holidays and parties and just exploring alone and ive really enjoyed it. We are both the same age. Keep having fun whatever you do . 🔴🟡🟢❤️
Hi sweetheart, I used to go to all sorts of concerts, heavy metal, rock and other bands and artists. I've even sat at the same table at the Brit Awards as Def Leppard. I used to be a regular theatre goer and also went to the opera and ballet, so I no longer feel the need to go to all those kind of events. However, if my achilles tendons allow me, I really enjoy walking around beautiful gardens. I feel that my life is full of fun even though I prefer staying home these days. Much love Imi xxx
I love that your a rocker, I'm a massive reggae fan. Also that you are content and peaceful now doing the things in your life that bring you joy, have a great week imi and thanks for sharing your life experiences xx 🔴🟡🟢❤️
I like this vid. Good list of things to quit..
Thank you Gerry. Do you have a list too? xxx
@@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc ...I could never devise such a good list...I am not as sophisticated as you are.
I love your voice, I find it calming and soothing. I cannot imagine why people would be irritated by you, they’d be far more irritated by me, that’s for sure 😂 I last went on holiday in 1990. I don’t like to leave my dogs and frankly I don’t have the money for holidays but it doesn’t bother me at all. I live by the sea (not a million miles from Dawlish where you nearly moved to) so I don’t feel the need to go away. I just like being at home, in my familiar surrounds and I love my own bed.
Oh my goodness darling where you live sounds idyllic . I’ve always wanted to live by the sea . And we’re in total agreement with the reasons why we prefer our own homes to travelling too! ♥️♥️♥️
Dear Imogen: Like you, I am stressed out if I am taking a trip anywhere. I worry about what to pack and also about something bad happening to my home when I am away. At 72, I feel happier to be at home and have no desire to travel anymore......Just wanting to tell you again, that you have the most calming voice and I could listen to you all day long. Whenever I need to relax, I turn on one of your videos and enjoy. Please keep making your great videos. Love from Canada...Ona Pelletier.
Oh darling thank you so much. I have also found that anything I pack no longer fits me once I’m away , or it’s completely unsuitable for the weather!😳🙄. xxx
Imogen ! We’ve moved into our new beautiful home !!! I’m going to do an apartment tour on here soon and talk a bit about my journey in the next few videos ❤
Oh My Goodness darling, that is so brilliant!!!! I am elated to hear that you now have a home of your own. I'll look forward to watching your next videos and the virtual tour too! You are well on your journey now to autonomy over your own life and it couldn't come soon enough. Well done for being so courageous! Much love to you and your daughter darling. Imogen xxx🩷
Everyone is different and I enjoy the way you speak and present your videos. In fact, I go in search of channels like yours that are easy to listen to and with interesting content. I struggle with speaking to the camera so I think you're doing an amazing job, especially as you don't script! xxx
Thank you darling. I did used to script but then I was too wooden...maybe I need some training! xxxx
@@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc You definitely don't need training. Keep going the way you are :)
@@MoniQuest55 Thank you sweetie xxx
I love your honesty about going on holiday… it’s exactly how I feel… holidays are overrated and expensive, stressful and overcrowded… I prefer little day trips ❤
At least with a little day trip we get to sleep in our own bed at night. Plus we don't have the stress of packing! 💜xxx
Beautifully said 💛
Thank you darling xxxxxx🩷
Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy them and do relate to most of what you shared. I am an introvert that loves being home and I live in Quebec, Canada and it is so cold right now so I just hate going out during January and February especially.. I care less and less what people think of me. I find the most foolish people are quick to criticise others and are usually envious or just plain miserable. I need to stop spending on things I do not need which I am getting better at. I will be retiring soon so I will have to be more careful. I want to enjoy the better things in life like quiet and peaceful days at home enjoying my hobbies and reading. Most of all being with my sweet pets. Anyhow thanks again for your videos. I love your delivery. It is very calming and you are true blue! God bless you!
There are so many of us introverts about aren't there darling. What extroverted people need to realise is that introverts are happier with their own company and will resist those who try to "bring us of ourselves"! My darling boy doesn't want us to have pets, but I know that if I were ever on my own, I would get myself a little dog for company. God Bless you too sweetheart xxx🩷
Please don’t change a thing about yourself. I think you are a lovely, charming woman and I love the way you speak. If only more people could be so lady-like.
Oh thank you Karen for such a kind comment. Much love to you and yours, Imi xxx🩷
Love this! Gosh, I wonder what would go in my list… 😂😊. Loved recording the first of our series together yesterday. I can’t wait to show you the finished video Xx.
Hello Sweetie, I'm really looking forward to watching it! At least I won't have to put it into slow motion to keep track! xxx
Years ago I quit saying “yes” to requests, having spent decades always jumping in to help or assume some responsibility. No more! And I don’t feel one bit guilty. I enjoy your voice & calm manner.
You and me both darling. It's empowering when you say no and the world doesn't cave in isn't it! xxx
I am happy with who I am. I enjoy my own company. I gave up comparing myself to others because we all shine with our own light. I appreciate you and think you speak softly and with love in your voice....hugs and blessings dear darling...............MINDY
You're so right darling. We all need to realise that and be happier with who we are. Much love Imi xxx🩷
I’m leaving you another lovely message. I think you’re wonderful ❤
Oh darling thank you so much 🩷🩷🩷xxx
