Learning to Grow My Own Microgreens At Home
Oh my word! This was such an adventure but so satisfying! There is so much to learn but I caught on pretty quick. I will never do it professionally, but I love doing it for myself. I hope you are brave enough to give it a go if you like microgreens!
I do believe the best website to learn from is Onthegrow.com. They have amazing videos and I used one of their free pdf downloads but in looking for the link to leave for you, I found they have 5 amazing free pdf downlaods. Here is the link for all five...onthegrow.net/collections/all/free-pdfs
Here are links for the other items I bought to use for this project...
10 x 10 trays...a.co/d/8wqtM2p
10 x 10 trays with holes...a.co/d/hGwg8Mv
Ocean Solution fertilizer...a.co/d/giWOBhR

True Leaf Market seeds...trueleafmarket.com/search?q=microgreen+seeds
Food grade, hydrogen peroxide… Essential Oxygen Food Grade... www.amazon.com/dp/B00B7V584E?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I used 1 quart filtered water to 4 Tablespoons hydrogen peroxide. I also used filtered water when I watered the plants the last time around.
I think that just about does it. If this looks like too much to spend, find a friend that wants to do it too and split all the products up. There is plenty!
Thanks so much for coming along, I hope you are willing to go the extra effort if there is something you want to learn. Don't give up on yourself or think it is impossible. Just keep trying and learning. If at first you don't succeed...it took me three times to grow peas! I am so glad I kept trying!
Blessings sweet friends!
Penny

Thank you so much for doing this video, Penny and in SUCH detail! I had already stumbled on the "On the Grow" website and watched some of their demonstrations, so it was good to see you putting them to use. I've actually grown microgreens in the past but it's been a while and with this Pantry Challenge, I am definitely ready to do it again (I've got some sprouts started in the meanwhile!) I ordered some of the supplies and once they get here, I'll be ready to go. I thought you indicated that you diluted the hydrogen peroxide, but if you did, what was the dilution that you made? Some friends were recently talking about the possibility of food poisoning from growing sprouts and what to do about it, so I was really interested in the idea of using food grade hydrogen peroxide. Again, I really appreciate this video and am excited to get my own microgreens growing! Gwen

Hi Gwen! I am so excited that you’re gonna do it again. I hope that I was able to explain it well enough. I did forget to say how to dilute the hydrogen peroxide. I will go back in and put that in the description box, but it is 4 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide to 1 quart of filtered water. I also used filtered water when I watered the plants. I did not use filtered water on the first two rounds but on the last one I did. That may have been the difference on the peas. Thank you so much for letting me know something I had forgotten. It is so hard to remember everything especially when it’s been about a 14 day process that you’re trying to fit into a video. Blessings to you on your micro greens, my friend! 🤗😁🥬🫛🌻

Can you tell me where to get food grade hydrogen peroxide and does it have to be diluted? So interested to watch this video. I am on day 3 of a soil less method. I was so confused to see how many methods and media there are. I decided to go with one that is relatively inexpensive. Thank you so much and i learned lots. Hi Penny! I just watched this video of yours (wonderful!) and wanted to see about making/canning the loaded potato soup as I recently got 50 lbs (!!!what was I thinking??!) of potatoes from Azure. However, when I click on the recipe links I get the message that I don’t have permission for that page. I saw that someone else had the same issue. The links will work for you, but probably not for anyone else. Could you link to them in some other way? Meanwhile, I would REALLY like to get that soup recipe! I already have a Zuppa recipe and have jars of it on my shelf. We love it a lot and now that I have all these potatoes, I think I’ll be canning some more! Gwen

How fascinating to watch those dough disks grow and turn into a pocket. I am wondering about the very first time a woman (it had to be a woman) made a flat bread and had it turn into a pita pocket. Do you think the people in her community praised her discovery? She should have been given the highest prize!

I am so sorry you have been ill! I am curious if you had tried any of your herbal tinctures or such to help with it? I really feel like the firecider does wonders to help kick things out the door. I have been making marshmallow, peppermint, mullien, and whatever else I think of at the time tea. With it being so cold I just have a pot on my wood burning stove and give it to hubby who is having some congestion issues. I don't ever miss your videos friend - thanks for sharing your life and ways with us!

Hi Mary! Yes, I have been using echinacea for everybody else in the house and I did a bowl of hot water with theives oil in it for my chest. Today I will start Usnea tincture for my chest as well. I had totally forgotten about it because I usually leave my little tincture bottles in front of me on my kitchen counter, and I had given the tincture of usnea away. I thought about it and realized I need to make me another bottle and start using it.

Enjoyed your video as much as you don't enjoy being sick! So sorry but if anyone can handle it - you are the queen. Even being sick you have produced a good video with lots of variety and yummy food. I bet you enjoyed shopping your own pantry instead of haven't to go outside. You remain a wonderful example for me and others of how to live your life. I just watched Jessica's video after her baby was born and how she managed - another great example. I'm so blessed to have such wonderful people in my virtual life! Take good care of yourself!

Oh friend, take care of yourself! I am on day 19 of this viral infection. Also was negative for Covid. Starting to feel better but goodness, what a long haul. Someday I feel like cooking, others we order in. Not going to worry if my pantry challenge is a little weird this year. Thankful for a stocked pantry. Outside temperature is -30° Celsius. A perfect day to rest in front of a fire. Blessings to you and yours.
