Just installed a set of 43-818HD 3 leaf 3950 pound leaf springs on the front of my 2002 ford f350. I couldn't find much info on ride quality or how much lift you gained by running the bigger springs. The reason for this video is to answer questions you may have about this upgrade.

Nice fleet
Would u think it will fit a 35sby 12,5 r20?
Contemplating going 4" or the 2.5" level and running 315/75r16s. Would 35s clear with just the 2.5" level? I plan on doing moderate offroad trails, 6-7s on a scale of 10 so want as low as possible center of gravity
Is there any drone in the cab with the straight pipe? Towing or otherwise?
@@christianhenderson6730 Very minimal.
A man would be a fool to buy a new truck in 2024. They aren’t as dependable as trucks were 20 years ago, and they aren’t worth the ridiculous price.
Terrific business fleet for california. They'd love it. Especially the older 450, 550s. Theyre not illegal or anything. California is the best, in every way. Not a single thing wrong with california, amirite? Thank u for being a proud business owner in california
I am getting ready to list my 2000 dually F450 7.3 Powerstroke for sale. It has 35k miles with a 14ft dump box.
Could you use the factory trac bar??
No it comes with a new one
@@gunsandammo35TY
was there anything else that was required to change out when you made this change? besides for U-bolts of course. Also did you have to make any adjustments to the steering or anything else?
how does some1 look for 7.3 powerstroke fords?
My 1999 f350 i drive everyday just hit 425k miles. In the last 25k miles it had one of the return metal lines rub through and thats it. At the same time the builders i work for it seems like one of their brand new shiny trucks of any brand are broken down more often than my 99 7.3 with 425k.
Bill what state are you in? Do you ever sell any trucks? I’m up in Massachusetts and everything is rust buckets. Let me know Thank you
Were your leaf springs made in china
Has your RC 2.5 in leveling kit springs sag about a half inch more on one side than another I just installed mine on my 02 f350 single rear wheel and my passenger side is 1 half an inch lower than the other side
Where are you located I like the video and are looking to hire someone
Why are the tow ratings so low on those?
i'd recommend KC turbos for your 7.3 turbo upgrade
Sub from me big dog! I have two 7.3's. Run the paid for stuff, ya know?
7.3 and 4.9 straight 6 best ford engines ever 👍
Let her go!!!!
Do you use any old Rangers,I drive a 07 Ranger it works for me. I would like a video on Installing a 50.
For those that are not privy, do not put a 6 pos chip tuner like this “mechanic” recommends 😂… There is a reason everyone talks so well about the hydra-because it is good. TS6 has issues and shift points issues are common, and you can’t get/write the proper tunes for your truck that are worthwhile from anyone. Do a quick search or read what the 7.3 community says about the TS6 vs Hydra. Also OP, fyi since you said you didn’t need “14” tunes, you can put 6 tunes with a hydra… or even just “1” tune on the hydra as well. Any recommendations from this guy, I would take it with a grain of salt after watching his video.
awesome fleet!!!
how ignurt
Older trucks aren’t reliable :/
Hell ya such a good idea !! I have 99 f350 super cab dully 4x4 zf6 best truck ever !
the 550 i use at work is a 7.3 with the 6 spd manual, and it sure beats the 6.0 i was running before that
I just bought a 7.3 cleaning it up. Working on engine oil leaks. I’ll look back at your videos and see what you have done.
02 E350 van 7.3. 150k miles. Bone stock. My black beauty. Ive been driving since feb. 09. Hoping to get another 15 years out of it.
I have an 2002 F550 that I put a ford rebuild in. Drove it for about 6000 miles and started having trouble with it losing power. Took it to ford and it was timed out of warranty, they wanted $6000 to replace a “ contaminated fuel system”. Injectors right to the tank fuel lines etc. pulled it from there and took it to the local mechanic where he pulled injectors and found bits of rubber from faulty orings floating in the oil. Tried replacing injectors one by one but got to 4 of them and I got tired of spending money on it. It’s sitting in my yard and I’d love to get it going again but I need a diesel guru to find the problem before I drop thousands more into it.
Only thing simpler and cheaper to maintain than a 7.3 is a 12 valve or idi, you could buy another truck for the price of fixing the trans in a 6.7 truck
Just stay away from the 5.4. I can't stand ford because they use too many 8mm bolts these days. I remember when it was just two nuts and a wire to change out the starter. Now they use six of those tiny 8mm bolts around the starter, and one on top is between the starter and the block 🥴 almost impossible to get a tool on 🤦
The 7.3 are the best I put over 600,000.0 trouble free miles on a 94 dually 5 speed it got wrecked hell you don't need all that power and torque the new ones have with that manual it pull to hell and back my truck was a F 350 XLT Extra cap
What 6 position are you using?
Let er eat!
I have a 2000 cab n chassis f550 that I have left stock since I got it several years ago… Because most people tuning and modifying are not speaking about longevity and reliability but rather power and performance. Hearing your take on these trucks speaks volumes. Subscribed. Can’t wait for more content!
Great idea unfortunately due to all woke politicians. California has ban diesel trucks 2004 and older . Massachusetts and New York after Dec 31st 2024
Dream fleet but I want all auto
Why are the shocks installed upside down?
Just subscribed for more 7.3 content! I also use a 7.3 for landscaping 👍
nice i have had the same truck since 2001 but it only has 150 thousand miles on it but it is just a 2wd but it is the 6 speed best truck i have ever had i just wish my truck was 4x4 like yours but that is the only thing i would change but i like your truck very nice
The last good "real" truck 7.3 Ferds. I want to put a turbo 7.3 in a square body for a plow truck. I like how the only decent trucks made in the past 40 years have another companies engines. The only reason dodge sold any trucks they had a Cummins. Ferds best truck has a International engine. In the early 2000s i knew a guy that put over 350k on a 7.3 every time i saw him he was doing burnouts he beat on that truck like a teenager. Up here in Alaska the oil fields used 7.3 ferds many 6 door trucks were sold up here. The only problem is oil field trucks have low miles but they never shut them off in the winter -40f to-60f for 8 months idle all day every day. The only good snow plow trucks were made before they had crumple zones built into the frame. Nice fleet I'm super jelly real trucks manual tranz and with no carpet i luv vinyl floor. Carpet in a truck is like putting a dress and lip stick on a pig. Now the new trucks have heated seats, 30'' tv screens and tampon dispensers. Plus all the newer cars/trucks have stupid safety gyros with automatic braking and throttle cutout if you slide like 3 degrees sideways it makes it imposable to get unstuck in the snow with traction control that hits the brakes. What a lemming city-idiot idea. Cars and trucks in 2035 will not be able to move for "safety reasons". You will get in and for safety purposes it will install a tampon for you and comes with a pair of tapered pants ,crocs and ky for the uwu girlbois. If you wear tapered female pants and crocs as a male sell your truck please let a real man have it.
Surprised you can find anyone that wants to work AND can drive a standard! Must be hiring unicorns lol. I bought a nice 2-1/2 ton Ford with a Cummins cheap cause the arborist couldn’t get help that could drive a stick.
@@jdatwood7086 Only certain ppl are aloud to drive the manual trucks but everyone has the ability to operate them. Basically everyone that works for me can run almost every piece of equipment. I have 2 girls that work for us and they run skidloader, dumptrucks etc. Just tried the no press approach and seems to be working
Where do you get the 6 position from?
@@GusgusA1 Bought mine from either diesel power products or Riff raff diesel. Can't remember
I'm in the market for a 2011-2014 F150 v8 as those truck have been rock solid. I don't want to get stuck with a truck that will be hard to get parts.
I spent some time in Appleton for Gravely training absolutely loved it. Much different than west Texas lol got a small fleet of 7.3s myself also
@@justinsefcik4980 Very cool! Definitely a great area to live, i can't complain anyways haha. Glad to hear I'm not the only one hoarding these old 7.3s 😆
7.3 gas ford is the best diesel truck since the 7.3 diesel. Before someone corrects me I meant what I said. Other than fuel source they are similar in alot of ways
@@AmericanAutomotive1 I've had the opportunity to drive a few 7.3 gas ford's and they definitely make good torque! Really guzzle the gas pulling tho!
@billknepfel well...that's true. Other then that though a great diesel alternative.
@@AmericanAutomotive1 I would definitely agree. Was very impressed with how much torque they have at such low rpm. Not used to that with a gas motor haha and I've owned quite a few big block chevy's. My experience was an f450 cab and chassis pulling a 27ft gooseneck with a 13k skidloader. About 30k total weight truck/trailer/skid and did really good on the highway as well. Set the cruise at 70mph and drove like a dream. Definitely a good alternative for someone who doesn't wanna deal with the diesel emissions
@billknepfel indeed. I'm towing light for what the truck is but I thoroughly enjoy it. I grossed like 19k towing an excavator and much to my surprise it really wasn't even working that hard. The 10 speed helps alot, and even though I have 3.55s the gear spread in general is just really good. That's the only shortfall of a 7.3 diesel of course is the Trans unless you go standard of course.
@@AmericanAutomotive1 The 10 speed is definitely a game changer! I've heard of guys getting pretty decent mileage with f250 and f350 srw trucks empty. Mid to upper teens, pretty impressive as well.
I think there is a bigger underlying message in this video. It’s more about being content than specifically about ford 7.3 set ups. Contentment=less money spent=higher profit margins. This guy knows these trucks. Is comfortable with them as far as meeting the businesses needs. As well is able to tickle some wants with making them to his liking in reasonable way. Without breaking the bank. This could appear in many different ways for businesses and is a great lesson. For young guys and old guys alike.
@@aaronhoughtaling6829 Great point! Yes, I would agree. Definitely more about having confidence in your equipment and knowing that I don't have to go to the dealer for repairs or diagnostics. I have respect for every American brand. This is what works best for me
@@billknepfel I actually own a landscaping company myself. Over the years I’ve certainly learned. It’s about what lands on my families plate at the end of the day. Rather than the headaches that are often self inflicted through many ways. One of the most common I see being bad purchases. My favorite and best purchase was a 2012 Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 (I’d compare it with a ford 7.3, reliable but not a ton of power necessarily) that truck had 240,000 miles or so on it. Super clean. Paid around 7,000$ for it. That truck was what created a second crew for my business. It made the initial investment back in a month. 4 years later I sold it. Just a few weeks ago now. For 5,500$ I couldn’t begin to calculate the money made over the 4 years at a cost of 1,500$ while I used it. . . Very few repairs over the years I might add.
@@aaronhoughtaling6829 I would agree. I run these 4 7.3 powerstrokes and have around 8 2500hd 6.0 chevys. They suck gas but are very reliable as well. It's nice to have multiple of the same trucks as well just for stocking parts, filters etc. Definitely makes life a lot easier for a fella
