Just found out this was the year after the T-Birds drafted Celebrini 1st overall in the USA priority draft! As if the T-Birds weren’t already one of the most stacked CHL teams in history that year, imagine if they also had Celebrini! But good on him for choosing NCAA.

Watching this game was an electric feeling. Jumping out to a 3-0 lead, seeing it disappear, then having Josh Bloom score with 21.7 seconds left had the roof of the Dow about blown off. Great win for the Spirit. My biggest problem was the way Dale Hunter and Sim's dad handled Sim getting ejected. He left his feet, lead with the elbow, followed through on the hit, and targeted the head. He clearly went out to hit someone. Pretty much a no brainer in my book. Congratulations Spirit, you did Saginaw proud.

How do you shit the bed so hard in the most important game of the year? Seattle’s roster was insanely stacked that year and had one of the best records in WHL history only to lose 5-0 in a single knockout game

Crazy that these are also the final moments of the Winnipeg ICE franchise, really the ICE name as a whole

I still can't believe how hard Seattle fell apart in this game.. The Edmonton Oil Kings remain the only team from the WHL to win the Memorial Cup in the last 15 years..

What an awesome game! When Crank put that into the empty net, we could feel the Championship being won. Time ticking down to zero was just added bonus. So much fun! Thanks for sharing!

Surprised the refs let it occur with all the dumb new fighting rules, but good for them. Good classic hockey.

These western Canadian kids clearly have more balls than 95% of the NHL. There is no excuse for games like this not happening in the NHL at least once in a while. It is completely, absolutely natural in competitive hockey, and if it doesn't happen organically, something is seriously wrong somewhere.
