      Dear Delilah: I have a physically healthy son who is autistic and lives with depression. Euthanasia will not solve your problem but will kill you. Please contact the Autism Society and connect with people who understand your difficulty. You will then have a chance to find a way through your difficulty rather than dying by being killed. I do it for myself not for others I would like to be euthanized. If someone killed your mom and she wanted to live that is a different story. But if she wanted to die at least she had a pain free clean death and was not hanging somewhere in her addict

    Im tired, I'm tired of strangers thinking they get to determine what's good for someone else. My body, my choice is all any of us truly have, the one thing on this planet that is personal, how I choose to die is no ones business but my own, dying with dignity is the last act we get to choose on this planet, why can't people just accept it's not their choice to define my life, to decide what's best for me out of their personal perception or religion. I managed to make my own choices all of my life, I managed to do that without someone controlling my life, I managed to make it to old age without all those strangers that now want to control my life and what I should do with it...I dont recall giving anyone permission to interfere in my life, I don't recall calling them to decide if I should get a broken bone fixed, or to decide if I should have my gallbladder removed, or decide what treatment I should take for my life...I challenge anyone to tell me where they have the right to interfere in my life choices...

    It's bullshit. You have to have a choice to choose. Assisted suicide and euthanasia are great things. They are not OBLİGATİONS they are CHOİCE. Unfortunately it's not legal in Hungary, but I hope one day every country legalise assisted suicide and euthanasia.

    YOU don't get to advocate what your mother does with her life. You are allowed to be heartbroken, but YOU maybe should have been there more for her. You are upset for selfish reasons. I make an effort to speak to my mother every single day. Your mother obviously knew you would fight against her wishes, or she genuinely did not want you there. Either way it was her choice and she is at peace.

    Omg grasping at straws to keep denying people rights re their own existence!! If they choose to die, it's none of your business, making out they feel obliged to die is just laughable. Here's an idea, worry about your own life, worry about those you love, and let everyone else decide on their own lives! It's none of your business if the neighbour wants to be euthanised, it's between them and who they choose to involve with it! It's obvious these anti euthanasia morons, have never sat for days awaiting a loved one to die. Watching the dehydrate to death, and listen to the lungs rattle as they struggle to breath, see the eyes loose all focus and just stare while they gasp, but not before witnessing the fear so deeply within those eyes!! Don't tell me an injection to peacefully end that is wrong!!!

    If the perosntakes their own life it is certainly up to them but that is not the case, someone else is always involved and whether you want to believe it ir not the linger of killing stays on for as long as that person lives. Be it abortion, euthanasia, war killing, road accident that a person has been killed stays and it never talked about. You will carry that burden it will remain and it never stops telling you that you killed a person. 1 in 5 people in the Netherlands are now killed without their approval but legislation says they cannot be; my wife was offered euthanasia and refused, my current wife's sister was euthanised in front of her eyes as hospital staff said she was too far gone; my wife's two daughters had abortions and my wife remembers a=every year and her daughters can never forget. The Netherlands is now introducing euthanasia for people who are not terminally ill. Death has a price and your creator will extract it from you day by day no matter what the reasons.

    The people in this video are such hypocrites. They know they don't have a real argument, so all they try to do is to evoke emotions by repeating all the same old cliche about suicide & of course, the background music helps depicting the good doctors who help relieve patients who are extremely in pain as cartoony evil characters. But seriously, am I supposed to feel sad for the guy who wasn't consulted when his mom decided to be euthanized? Maybe, he should've thought about that when abandoning his clinically depressed mom; even after she informed him that she is thinking about it. Such a hypocrite. He is not angry at the Dr or the euthanasia itself, he is angry for being outed as the type of person that he really is.

      Thank you for your response. Documentaries should engage people in debate! Please, watch the whole documentary before passing judgement on these people who have been hurt so deeply. If you are still convinced that all of these contributors are hypocrites, you are entitled to your opinion. But regardless of your feelings towards these people, the question remains what this kind of thinking does to a society over a period of time, especially disabled or depressed people who want to end their lives. Or worse, people with dementia (etc.) who are being forcibly euthanized in places like Belgium.

      My Mother has elephantiasis and lived in the slum for most of her life. She has acquired it in 1969 and she is still alive to this day. We would not be here if she had chosen to die. You might think that my life is not worth living and that I should just go and kill myself. But I was raised to believe that there is HOPE for as long as we live. My endurance for pain and sufferings is built in my system. No one wants to suffer. But my mother taught me that endurance and HOPE. She took care of my Grandmother before she passed away with dementia. My father remains faithful to this day to my mother. They got married in 1968 and still married to this present day of February 2018, and for the rest of their remaining lives! We are not wealthy. And we are certainly not perfect but we are no hypocrites!

    So basically these people, prefer to have the family member to stay alive in agony for selfish reasons. doesn't matter if its physical or psychic pain, one should be able to decide over ones own life or dead. Ofcourse this can't happen overnight the patient should be asking for it consistently over a longer period of time, i don't know about euthanasia for physical pain, but to be granted euthanasia for psychic pain in Belgium is a long difficult proces where experts do extensive investigation.

    • @Spiderlanky
      @Spiderlanky 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      But this is the problem, you legalise this and then what's stopping killing those with special needs? Or those who have been badly injured with burns or other grievous wounds? The point here is that killing people degrades them to being equal with mere animals. Humans are NOT animals and human life is so far more precious than animals (animal abuse is a whole other can of worms, not opening that up here). Abortion already has gone from being only used to terminate a baby in grave danger of killing the mother or some other dire situation, to being used to kill off the young human life for the whim of the mother. Euthanasia is guaranteed to slide very rapidly down that path to the point where murder will no longer be called murder.

She decided to die the moment she heard the news that her daughter died during surgery. 3 months is not enough time to heal her suffering, and yet they euthanized her. Euthanasia is going way too far :(

      People can be in a dark place mentally for a long period of time, that doesn't mean they can't start to feel better though. Another problem is wanting to die can almost become part of your identity, it can be hard to let go of that death wish, even when it doesn't seem rational that you still have it. The death wish will of course fall away with time, and resources that make life worth living, but it takes a while to let go sometimes.

      @@RobLewis3 First, I'm not sure their primary role is to prevent suffering in itself, but rather to help regain » health «. Suffering is simply a sign of illness. Get rid of illness, get rid of suffering. But even if it is does include the elimination/reduction of suffering, one does not achieve it successfully by getting rid of the patient. Death is certainly not a sign of health. And suffering has disapeared simply because the patient has disappeared. Not what I call a great medical achievement.

What about the people who's life are so terrible that they don't want to open their eyes every morning? What about the people who are isolated, have no friends or family and no partner, and have been dealing with that for years on end? Don't be so downright ignorant! Euthanasia is a gift, it allows an escape for those who want to end the agony that is their existence.

    For people whose family members are facing terminal illness, the answer to alleviating their loved ones' pain and suffering is to provide qualified palliative care, whether at home or in a healthcare facility - NOT physician-assisted suicide or active euthanasia. Decades ago, I heard a physician from The Netherlands speak on the situation in his nation where euthanasia was recently legalized. He strongly cautioned Canadians not to go down this road, and he advocated training more qualified palliative caregivers. We should be discussing the need to train healthcare professionals to provide good palliative care. We should not be advocating legalizing the killing of another human being, which is exactly what physician-assisted suicide is. In 1993, the Supreme Court of Canada stated that it was not a good thing to legalize euthanasia in the Sue Rodriguez case, because in their view, and rightly so, it was not possible to ensure adequate safeguards to prevent abuse. That is why I cannot fathom the logic in the February 2015 decision of the SCC - a 180 degree switch in thinking. Thank you, Alex Schadenberg and EPC, for this video which highlights those abuses that the SCC once predicted would occur, should euthanasia be legalized.
