Just a mini vlog. We all have to do it at some point, but moving an entire house is a PITA! Especially, when you're doing it yourself... my arm muscles are still sore from yesterday, but it's 90% done. 555 Timer Car Indicator Flasher with Globe Outage Detection
มุมมอง 250หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I expand on the previous circuit linked below to implement a globe blown detection feature. What this does, is measure the voltage drop across a shunt and when the current consumed by the bulbs is 3 or so amps, it flashes at normal speed. If one globe were to go away, the voltage drop decreases, so does the current, and it will now flash at double the rate to let you know to chec...

@@RollingThunder85 it depends on where you are
Love that you did this with a "realistic" lab bench setup for a hobbyist... looks like that XR2206 soldering kit function generator? That thing is awesome. And of course the quintessential DSO138 scope... amazing what 30$ can get you. Great explanation as well, particularly of the Alps style pot with the loudness switch... never totally understood how that worked. Great stuff.
In many cases those jacks, switches and pots mounted to PCB just cause tension to or break the solder connections when they are tightened to the front panel, especially if there is no other mechanical support except those electrical connections. They should be, if possible, soldered to PCB after tightening the front panel nuts first. I just today had to repair a Pioneer hifi amp which had ripped the soldering of PCB mounted treble pot because the tension left to the pot connections after installing the PCB into the front panel and tightening the shaft nut.
I cant believe missed this. I cant believe that witsit is still just as pathetic now as he was then. He just has more word salad 🥗 now.

Nice one, mate. Maybe the dim bulb anomaly thing is either just the capacitor(s) getting the initial charge, or else the thermistor doing its soft start thing....? Anyway, great job. I have re-used a few of these, too. They seem very reliable, mostly. At least the original ones, anyway.
Possibly a soft start thing, as you mentioned. These little bricks are great for powering other things at the 20V mark (the soldering iron is supposed to be 24V) as they're very stable, regulation wise.
Is it a shield or the negative? Yes.
Lol. Yes, both.
Great video Astro, have you made a similar video about MOSFET ?
Not yet. However, MOSFETS are easier to test, as you're mostly looking for a short between drain/source.
Glad you got moved OK in the end. I must have misunderstood because i thought you were in a single room before. My mistake. This one looks good and bright. Hope it works out for you.
The only drawback I see is the overly long path for the 22K feedback resistor

Why do these guys think Austin can't hold the position that "homosexuality is objectively disgusting?" All non-theistic worldviews boil down to relativism which means they have to give equal validity to all worldviews. So, to remain consistent, they HAVE TO say Austin's worldview is equally valid to any other.
Because it's subjective.

You can not determine Total Harmonic Distortion by looking at a sine wave on an oscilloscope. You need to use Fast Fourier Analysis to display the harmonics.
Thanks mate, helped confirm what I was doing. Well explained.
@@mystere765 you're welcome 😊
I'm a big fan of a soft start on the valve amps I build, I usually add a CL-80 thermistor in the load (hot) line and it prevents spikes and allows for a smooth start. What is the advantage of this circuit ?
Dealing with the large inrush current of power transformers above 300VA (500VA, etc.). The initial peak current can be well over 15A which will pop your circuit breakers.
skeptic looks like a crackhead..
Have you moved house?
Yeah, man. Last weekend.

Suggestion for your soldering iron power box & control thingy: Make some sort of bracket so you can hang it from the underside of the shelf above. Bonus points if you make the bracket yourself from a stack of beer can aluminium. lol (USA) Redneck inventions at their finest! JHL 1969 bias ?
I'm pretty sure I covered that in the original video on the amp module. Between 1 and 1.5A should be fine.
Wish I were brave enough to open my shit up and was better at soldering. Mine wasn’t dropped, but… I unfortunately fell asleep with the amplug on & now it’s dead. I think the circuit is fried. I changed the batteries without any luck. 😭😭😭😭😭

In the late 80's I made a temporary deterrence in my Mustang before I purchased an alarm by placing two Radio Shack blinking LED's, one just in front of the third brake light and one in the dash. Switched using a car relay when the car was at rest.
thank you so much , I have little knowledge so I'm thankful to have a video to walk me through it
Who needs context? We're on a mission from god.
Do you connected a load resistor on the output?
@SymbolTech21 I misread, sorry. No I didn't.
@AstrosElectronicsLab so that's why you get all that high rms voltage. I don't know what is the output impedance on this pre amp. Try with 100k or 50k load resistor and do again the measurements or maybe is 10k
@SymbolTech21 yeah I realise it needs to be loaded I was mainly interested in if it worked at all
Nice project and good progress. Agreed, many folks these days are lazy to use google to search for simple circuits and / or details on components and want to be spoon fed information.
On the ignition on/off circuit, what is the purpose of the 100R resistor?
@Taylor_26GE93 it's part of a resistive divider together with the 10k pull-up resistor. What we don't want to do is short the base of the first transistor to ground.
@AstrosElectronicsLab would that be such a bad thing if it was? The 10K still limits some of the collector current, would it only be any reverse breakdown/leakage current from the collector/base junction of the first transistor?
Hi A.E.L ! Why are you hiding behind the glass of beer?
Science!
I have some (20 + ) LM 3909's they do a far better job.
That's actually good to know. I never even knew those ICs existed, I'll have to order some to play with them. I just looked at their datasheet for the application data. Thanks :)
