Broken collarbone (what to expect)
มุมมอง 201K10 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video of my experience explaining the things to expect that were never fully explained to me. Watch this & if you still feel like things aren't going to plan then go back to your Doctor.
2024 collar bone broken gang assemble
Does leaning and sitting in a couch bad ?
I just broke my collar bone and i am thinking how to bath with the shoulder support. Doctor told me what ever happens do not remove the shoulder support
Thank you! A lot more informative than my doctor
Glad it was helpful Tom. Keep mending!
I’m three weeks since my motorbike accident and trying to balance the pain of the broken collarbone, broken shoulder blade, 8 broken ribs and a punctured lung. It’s been a joy! Bit torn, as a sling supports the shoulder but pushes on the ribs. Even the medical team weren’t convinced it was the best plan. Thank God for pain killers, but I’m a bit concerned about the jutting bit of bone that I can see on my shoulder. Thanks for the video - feel a bit more reassured.
Good luck with the healing there Paul. Sounds like you had a bad'n.
broke my collar bone 10 days ago. I was given very little information at the time so this video was very interesting for me. Thanks.
🥺 👉🏼👈🏼
Hi am i the only 1 watching this lately on 2024!...just broke my left collarbone 6 week ago n have become anew member of the fam😊....the dctr told me just to wear a figre of 8 strap along with the sling for natural healing without surgery,,,guys the first few weeks was damn painful cant even change ma shirt,,,,but patience is everything,,with time luckily the pain got decrease day by day,,,but till now i can feel the sharp edge of my collarbone with my hand😢
Broke mine about three months ago and things are looking good for me. How I broke it was a bad mountain bike accident. Could barely adjust my self in the chair. Glad is over 😖 hurt like hell ☹️ every one else who has a broken collarbone heal well 🤞
Hi! I had my surgery last month! What plate have you used stainless steel or titanium ? Can you ride bike now ?
Thumbnail be like : "collarbone plis 🥺👉👈"
Snapped mine 11 days ago. Healing with no surgery, in my case never had any pain even day 2, only some pressure when standing and some discomfort (lucky spot i guess). Using a figure8 and a sling. If anyone needs info ask me anything
Thanks. Needed this. Not completely healed after 8 weeks. Still quite painful at times
What about the shortening of the color bone?
Hey you! Yes you! I was also in your situation 8 weeks ago, don't you worry it will get better in time.
Shhhhit, thanks a lot for the advice mate. I’ve been lucky it broke without dislocation. Its been now 18 days since I broke it and I was getting a bit too confident about it. Hearing you snapped it again has really gave me a heads up 🥴 Best of luck for you all
I’m two and a half weeks in and found your advice very helpful. I will definitely be taking on board your advice about watching what I’m doing so thank you for that.
Really helpful info, even 10 years later :)
Just bring broke mine out of string pain meds. One week …How long should you take them? Still really hurts. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Am really happy for this video more especially for living in an area were there no better medical facilities.
Same here😅 thanks @748dukeboy. The information you provided in detail is just what I need. ❤

8 weeks post op / 9 weeks post break ... Mine was a mm away from bursting through the skin with 2 other shattered fragments .. surgery was the only option. Recovery has only JUST started making massive progress. Great video mate. Defo more informative than the doctos ive been dealing with
It would be important for everyone who suffered from this accident to see this video, he is absolutely right.
I broke mine April 31, 2022 on an accident. It’s been like 1 year and half now, can u still do surgery on it?
This is a most wonderful video it’s better than any doctor or nurse I’m so grateful for your time 👍🙋♀️Sandy
Broke mine in bike accident on .27.7.23 after 2 weeks no pain but no recovery broken in 3 pieces but connect nho displaced
I'm a week out of breaking mine, but due to one part being pushed up 2.5 cm, so it won't heal very well (if it at all), so surgery next Tuesday. . I don't have a lot pain now, except every now and then some sharp pain from the sharp end of the bone catching.
They had me thinking that my body is lacking vitamins. I was sent the bone stimulator and told to do blood work. I too thought it wouldn’t take long in I’m at 4 months already and still feeling my bone hurting and my arm locking up at times.
I must be a tough old 61yo cos never went to hospital just put up with it for 3 days . No drugs.
Mine broke in 3 or 4 places, I had a operation 4 weeks ago. They put in a metal plate and three or four screws, but the operation cause me to get a blood clot in my arm, that actually hurt worse than the broken bone and now I'm on blood thinners for the next 3 months. The side effects from the painkillers were so bad that I only took them for a day and a half after the operation, the pain sucked, but it was better than the side effects. I bought a little bit smaller dual sport and don't really have plans on riding for another 2 months
Broke my right collar bone at 17, mountain biking over far too big jumps from my skill level, I managed to break my left elbow, my right wrist and my right clavicle although my pain levels where very low as 2 days prior after the accident I did not need to take any supliments such as paracetamols and let it heal naturally after 3 days my pain was non existent and after one week visiting the gp they told me I am able to not wear a sling at home and now it has been 13 days since the accident and I'm feeling fine just a bump and two broken arms. But that was case for removing the sling ask a medical expert for approval
broke my collars almost 2 weeks ago. past few days its been more painful than the first week. bone is sticking out lol. thanks for your advice hard to believe in 9 years your video has been the most informative I've found on real life experience. so thank you, btw is there a part 2 to this video.
Thank you for removing the worry dear friend
I broke my Collarbone a week again, had surgery yesterday, my bones were overlapping and they went in did surgery and put a plate in and Screws. Didn’t really give me much of a recovery time. I play tennis, lifeguard, and weightlift I’m wondering when a timetable return for those activities will be.
Update
Very good vid I’m currently in Turkey 🇹🇷 paragliding had a small accident on take off ended up 3 broken ribs & collar bone 🦴 excactly as you described .I left hospital said I ‘ll be back tomorrow as I have my dog with me in camper all they want to do is operate noo thanks I’ll take my chances & at 65 who cares about lumps & bumps sticking out 😅must say ribs are driving me mad 😡 guess no paragliding for couple months let’s see but great vid I know your not a medical person but, coming from someone like you I feel much better
I'm from Nairobi Kenya and I'm 4 weeks into healing, ranges of motion have increased and if you take care of it with a good nutrition it heals faster. #brokencollarbonesquad.
super helpful. thank you
Sup fam
Hi everyone, I broke mine in like 17 days ago. The doctor adviced me to get a surgery but i didnt, I just but it in sling and after two weeks it still pains when i move my arm around but i can do alot of actions i wasnt capable doing before like eating or putting shirt on or brushing my teeth. Just be strong and most importantly be patient as it may take a month or two to heal😊
7 weeks into my broken collarbone being treated non surgically .. rugby injury .. very informative video as the doctors as far as I'm concerned are just useless at giving the right information and approach to what's actually happening .. still stiff all on that side but pain level from the broken bone has drastically declined but I find myself caught out sometimes with shoulder blade pain when I'm out and about .. it can be a total nightmare .. I keep telling myself to just keep going because to be honest it's an awful situation to have to deal with especially if your anyway athletically inclined it's gonna be a major pull on your mental health .. best advice for that is to never give up .. your your own best believer and if your like me and you love a good fight this situation is a great one
Can anybody pls help me. It's been about three weeks and there's no sign of new bone or the fractured being healing. I'm scared of surgery 😞
Same thing with my fracture. Ortho dr said sling for 4 weeks followed by 8 weeks of physical therapy and bone would be healed. Physical therapist said the same thing. Back to ortho doc at 12 weeks . New X-ray. I was told it was not healed may take year or maybe never! I was stunned. I was 100% certain it would be healed at 12 weeks, not because I had any medical knowledge just based on what I was told and had perfect ROM. Why are we not told the truth? I’m at 5 months now , no pain but can’t lift anything heavy or use arm for weight bearing exercises. THEN it will hurt for a day or two. Never heal? Tell us!
Excellent video. First hand experience. Tyank you sir.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I broke my collarbone 3 weeks ago.
How is it now. Is it healed well😊
@@abdirahman_isse Yes my muscle strength ang mobility has been restored 100% without surgery. :)
I got the surgery and plate 5 days after the break. A couple days of pain killers and antibiotics and I am healing fast. No pain and some pt and I will be good as new. Get the surgery fast and don’t screw around.
Just broke mine 4 houra ago, i wish i could just stand straight up and 😴
First two days was agonizing pain , 3rd day I ate some food started to get some strength back , 4th day I’m already driving , by the 5th day I’m already scheduling to go in to have surgery on my broken foot ‘ happy new years to me
You know what sucks ? Having a broken collarbone and broken foot . Fml
So funny bro, i just broke mine but foot got hurt but luckily only collarbone broke. I feel your pain
It definitely sucks. I suffer only from the restrained movement off the broken collar bone, can’t imagine a broken foot. Hope you recover fast

When I cracked mine a long time ago, I was at school and I fell on a rock and just sat there in pain until my friends noticed lol
