I will play Infaernum, again! 😅 However, I am considering Mothership.
We are playing “No Labels”, the RPG where you remove the labels and expiration dates from dairy products you buy throughout September, then everyone takes turns drinking them on Halloween night Is it rancid milk or is it cottage cheese? Yes, it is!
Ooof, that's for real some horror-ible stuff.
What are you playing for Halloween?
@@RPGSean we're gonna use the kids from The Dare and run them through an adventure by @1shotadventures
Hopefully I’ll be running Ten Candles for my group this year. Btw I like the new hairdo.
Would love to hear how it goes. And thank you.
I’m pretty sure Eddie plays only AD&D.
Weren’t some of us Eddie?
Excellent selection for the inaugural RPG Hall of Fame. :)
Great video! I can't disagree with any of your choices. While most of these aren't among my personal favorites (now or in the past), it's hard to argue with the impact they had on the hobby, each bringing something fundamentally new to the table. Beyond these 5, other contenders might be The Dark Eye (an early example of adapting D&D to a different market; this was the first RPG for myself and most folks in Germany back then; you could list the Swedish Drakar och Demoner in the same category) and Apocalypse World (I don't care for it myself, but I do think it brought some interesting new concepts to the table with its narrative focus). Also a nice way to spin a topic from your livestream out into its own video. Would love to see more videos like this!
The Digital Hobbit! Did Schwarze Augen. Of course!
@@RPGSean Of course, indeed. :) I moved on pretty quickly to other systems, though. WFRP became my personal favorite fantasy RPG.
Agree with the list 100%. Well done!
Rewatching the VOD (had to break away for breakfast with the folks) Surprised no one called Night's Black Agents. That and 10 Candles, Delta Green, Vampire WoD, and Mothership, Alien, or other fear based sci-fi is my picks. Say Nothing was the book Sean recommended an episode or two ago that was referenced in this Saturdays video. As always thanks for your time Sean!
5 Great RPGs for Halloween season?
Hey all!
I dont know what it is with Vaesen but I’ve played 3 separate one shots (I assume they were modules) and found myself checking the clock a few times … it’s a slow burn mystery and leans towards narrative gaming, and not much happened until right at the end… maybe I haven’t had the right GM? Or is it not really designed for one shots? Or maybe it’s just not for me?
The pieces of The Society does lend itself to longer campaign play, but certainly not required. Could be GM? Or, it may not be for you, and that's ok. Thanks for the comment!
Such great memories. The thing I love about these games is that they require only imagination, pencil, paper and dice. We could recreate versions of these games if we were trapped in a dungeon or adrift on a rogue moon. And Traveller! It’s why I love science and cosmology today. Great list! I would include Gettysburg or Tobruk as prototypical and legendary.
Cyberpunk should be on the list. It has had such an impact on the culture outside rpg scene as well. Depending on your take, should replace Traveller or GURPS.
Mike's a good dude, definitely should be in THoF
Awesome video!
Nice. I was -sure- you were going to skip GURPS and head for Apocalypse World, but I'm glad you didn't!
You start getting past the Dees and Dees and there are some very solid contenders.
Personally for me I would put shadowrun in the 2nd or 3rd slot. I know the mechanics were a mess but the stories I told with the system were epic.
Shadowrun...not a bad choice.
Hard agree. Though I did not play Traveller.
Which 5 TTRPG's would you put in the inaugural class of the RPG Hall of Fame?
D&D, Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, Traveller and Warhammer.
@BudsRPGreview BUD!!
@@RPGSean SEAN!
I would agree with this list.
You’re on 🔥🔥🔥! Cranking them out!
V&V or Champions? It's hard to think of RPGs without the superhero element. Having said that one of them would complement the five it shouldn't replace one. Your list is that foundational. So my question is this... which of the follwoing supplements had more influence on the hobby; Tegal Manor, Dark Tower, or Big Rubble?
V&V and Champions, certainly worthy. Haven't done supplements yet!
And what about YOUR Hall of Fame? Games that are essential to you.🤔
🤔
But what about....nevermind. You nailed it Sean-bo!
Hair N!!
It wasn't this week's question, but "Are you good with character death?" is a great question of the week. Lots of interesting discussion. People have pretty strong feelings about it.
tis a good question fer sure.
Sport and rpg-related name of the team?
Great vid Sean. Make more of these for other games!
Great video. God we love Delta Green!
Humbly concur with what Sean is saying here, DG is a great game, it's as much drama and thriller as it is horror - there is a variety of threats against the individual, the group and world that your characters have to deal with. This is not heroic action genre, you have to think about your actions and consequences, but that's what makes the stories shine.
🙏
This is fantastic. Quantum Black is my game of choice with this genre BUT I am gonna have to buy DG now.
And I may have to check out Quantum Black. 🍻
Yeah baby. Great video, Sean.
😊
Have you played or run DG? If not, what's stopping you?
Wouldn't admit to it if I had. Couldn't.
🕵🏼♂️
Scheduling! Planning to run it by the end of the year, though 🤞
Maaaaybe. Maybe we've just started recording for part 2 of Impossible Landscapes. Maybe though. Just maybe 😏
@@zerodeadpodcast7102 may have to check it out. I find myself grinning ear to ear as I hear people go through it as I've run it.
I love it!
Thanks for the share on Choice of Life! Game jame was a good time.
You bet! Thanks for letting me know.
D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Mothership, Delta Green, Vaesen. Such a personal list.
D&D, Traveller, Runequest, Champions, Marvel Super Heroes
What 5 RPGs would you put into the inaugural class of Tabletop RPG Hall of Fame?
No I will not watch this video before playing forbidden lands. I'll play it if I want to
Are you sure?
@@RPGSean yes am sure!
@@12345gerrard ooooh kaaayyy.

Thanks for this video. It was very informative and I liked the personal experiences.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You have to rename the street you live on, but it has to be a ttrpg reference. What is your new street address?
Thanks so much! This is really helpful! I’m running Moonbase Blues for my buddies tomorrow and was really confused about combat!
How did it go?
@@RPGSean Satisfyingly dark. Had one player for each class and everyone got a chance to shine before they were lost to madness one by one. I think I’m starting to sway my group to enjoy horror gaming as much as I do. Thanks again :)
@@cleverkuo-toa644 nothing like a little suspense to heighten the mood. ;)
Great stuff thanks. I'm going to be running this for the first time soon. I plan on having them start in a small village that was coming to an end as the blood mist lifted. Its population was dwindling, farm lands barren, etc. This way it doesn't serve as a safe haven for them to continue coming back to for resources. But it used to be a thriving trade city 300 years ago, so there are still ruins of its once greater past right there. Not much adventure to be had in these, but within them the town elders have found a map of the lands (the game map that comes with the set). They don't know anything more than what is printed on the map. The premise of the campaign is that the pcs have volunteered to take this map and go out and learn as much as possible about the forbidden lands. This explains why they have the map, but also, without a specific destination, when they see a tower, they have no reason not to investigate it. It would be actually out of character since doing so is their entire purpose. The only thing I need to figure out is, how they know when to return to the village (when they know enough) and what the village wants this info for. Maybe I'll have the village wiped out by raiders or something. Open to suggestions thanks.
Sounds like it's going to be a great campaign.
What rpg are you most anticipating right now?
Shadow of the Weird Wizard…I think it’s shipping in the next month or two!
Thanks, I like a lot of this advice. I'm okay with showing the full map. I play marked locations as the collective knowledge of rumors. So it makes sense that the PCs will explore in those directions. It's some kind of goal until a more compelling goal emerges.
Total judgement call on showing the map, for sure.
Shadowdark if you don’t have it.
I'm a little late to the party here, but reading the small print on the Free League deal, it looks like it comes with PDFs too!
What product from the 2024 Ennie Award nominees are you looking to purchase?
Shadowdark. We picked up the quick start a while ago and loved it. So happy to see them get Gold.
Sean you dog! Good going.
Woof.
