【Natalie】 Your Reality (Doki Doki Literature Club!) 【Synthesizer V Cover Teaser】
I've been meaning to do vocal synth covers for quite a while, after acquiring both Synthesizer V Studio Pro and a few voicebanks. Vocal synth covers have always been one of my favorites, so I wanted to take a stab at it myself.
Plus, I needed to find an excuse to use Natalie in something since she's my most recent purchase.
So, what better song to test her out than a song that holds a special place for me, that being Your Reality from Doki Doki Literature Club!
I know that this is not the only cover of this song that's out there, but I couldn't find one with Natalie in it, so I figured I'd use her.

Mother/EarthBound Beginnings - Bein' Friends (Game Boy Advance Cover)
มุมมอง 1338 หลายเดือนก่อน
Now that Furnace has Game Boy Advance support, I just had to do this one. This uses both Game Boy and Game Boy Advance (DMA) chips. The PCM sampled drums were extracted directly from the corresponding NSF file and pitched accordingly. As for the other four sound channels, this uses the Game Boy's zombie mode, rather than using hardware envelope sequences. Those were copied directly from the Mot...
Mega Man 3 - Hard Man Stage (Game Boy Arrangement)
มุมมอง 573ปีที่แล้ว
Well, here's a system that doesn't get much use on here. For this arrangement, I wanted to go for a Kouji Murata-ish style. Tried to keep it as accurate as possible, but in most cases I had to guess by ear, particularly with the vibrato speed and depth. Made with Furnace, with some help from GBSImport (particularly with instrument envelopes).
Super Mario Land 2 - Athletic Theme (SAA1099 Cover)

A brand new sound chip makes its debut on the channel, the Philips SAA1099! After yesterday's Nintendo Direct, I just HAD to cover this song from one of my favorite Mario games, Super Mario Land 2, which is available on the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy app. Made with Furnace Tracker

Luigi's Mansion - Game Boy Horror (Atari Lynx Cover)
มุมมอง 3602 ปีที่แล้ว
Happy Halloween! To celebrate the occasion, I put together a simple cover of the Game Boy Horror theme from Luigi's Mansion. I was conflicted as to what soundchip I was going to use (originally I was going to use Game Boy), but I decided to use the Atari Lynx soundchip, mostly because I haven't used it in a while.

Testing out the new volume macros with Furnace's Game Boy emulation. This is more or less an attempted 1 to 1 port of the NES original, with some differences. * The DPCM drums are instead replaced with wavetable and noise channels (I know the kick and snares might be hard to hear given that the wave channel overpowers them) * Although he wave channel has the ability to mimic an NES triangle wav...

Had a ton of fun with this cover. To be honest, creating FM instruments from scratch (especially using a 4-operator FM chip such as the YM2151) is a royal pain in the ass. Yes, this is the first track on this channel to use the Yamaha YM2151. It's also the first track that uses multiple soundchips in the same module, specifically the YM2151 (first six channels), AY-3-8910 (channels 7, 8, and 9(...

More Atari Lynx goodness. A cover of "A Simple Diversion" from Deltarune Chapter 2. Also finally figured out how to increase the amount of loops when exporting to audio. Turns out, I totally missed the "Loops" counter in the File menu. Made with Furnace Tracker. Visuals by Corrscope.

Yay, I'm not dead. Yeah, I know, not the longest cover out there, but I wanted to get the hang of using Furnace, so I cooked up this tune. This is a cover of the Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros. made using the Mikey (CPU sound chip in the Atari Lynx) emulation core in Furnace Tracker.

    First vocal synth cover on the channel! And it's with Synthesizer V Studio, no less. It's worth mentioning that this is merely just a teaser for the full version, that's still a work in progress, so the version you're hearing might sound different from the final version. The quality is not indicative of what the final version might sound like, as I'm still learning the ins and outs of Synth V. This is also the debut of Synthesizer V on this channel, so you could say this channel is evolving from a strictly chiptune-oriented channel to posting whatever I feel like, be it Synth V or my usual chip output.

    If you ask me, this is probably what Mother 1+2 should've sounded like. While working on this module, I ran into a rather interesting issue. When playing back the module, some notes were barely audible in either Pulse 1 or Pulse 2's column. Yet, when I muted them individually, I could hear them very clearly (this started happening when I muted the GBA's first DAC channel). I also realize that some samples pop like crazy, particularly the kick drum. Unfortunately this was something I couldn't fix easily, so I decided to leave it in.

    Honestly I wasn't surprised when I discovered this cover a few years back . The influence of Dream Theater on Jake was very apparent with the intense boss themes he composed for Contra 4 and the Shantae games, especially the one from Half-Genie Hero. I once even tricked some of my friends with the latter, by saying that it's a lesser known DT instrumental, and they fell for it.

    • @RetroBunn
      @RetroBunn 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's very interesting! I’m just glad I was able to find it myself, since like I said, I couldn't even find it on any public mod archive that had Jake’s stuff on it. Honestly I can't remember how I even found it in the first place (what site I used). I wouldn't be surprised if there are more modules out there that are hard to find.

    • @RetroBunn
      @RetroBunn ปีที่แล้ว

      It was used in the SAM Coupé, the Game Blaster (also known as the Creative Music System) sound card for PC, the IRIS Professional 4D and the IRIS Power 4D series of computers, and several arcade machines. Two sockets for two SAA1099s could be installed inside of a Sound Blaster for Game Blaster backwards-compatibility, but later versions of the card took out the SAA1099 sockets. Lastly, two of these chips, along with a YM2151, were going to be included in the Commander X16 for the audio. In the final version, the SAA1099 was taken out in favor of the built-in VERA sound.

    Fun fact, this cover was originally going to be using the Atari POKEY sound chip. The reason I switched to the SAA1099 was because of the limited pitch range of the POKEY (especially where vibratos are concerned, in other words, on some notes vibrato wasn’t as smooth as on the lower note range.

    Fun fact, this was originally made for the T6W28 (Neo Geo Pocket), but due to it not having enough low notes to work with (despite the fact Furnace has the option for custom clock rates), I scrapped it. This was also originally going to be a cover of "Run, Kirby, Run!" from Kirby’s Super Star, using the AY-3-8910 and PC Engine. That cover has been shelved for the time being.

    Yes, you are seeing the Furnace window in this video. I got a brand new laptop, which allows me to run Furnace and capture it with OBS at the same time, which was not possible on my main desktop PC since it wasn’t powerful enough to do that. I haven’t used OBS for this kind of thing in a while, so things may look off. Hopefully in the next video things will look a bit better. Some long time subscribers may remember that I used to upload videos where I would record the screen using OBS. The reason I haven’t done that until now was because those videos were made on a laptop that was on loan during my university years (I had to send it back after I graduated).
