Awesome tip
Thank you for the video. I have a follow up question - why not to just use body cap instead of the lens for going back to the original number on the first film? I mean is it possible or is there any particular reason for it?
Great thinking, you could do that too, just never tried it myself
what kind of battery does it take?

Maquinon ...yo las prefiero cromadas!😊😊😊😊😊😊
están bonitas las cromadas pero prefiero esta negrita 🌚
"Only from the mind of Minolta"
These All black SRT are gorgeous!
I'm guessing you've been doing film photography longer than I have. Would you recommend personally developing or sending it to a lab for development?
If you’re just starting off, send it to a lab.
I love these cameras I have a kodak retina 1a I took to estes colorado
I have one of these, and I also have an amazing Sony digital camera with awesome lens. On my last little vacation I practiced something new and old. As I am old enough to remember taking photos on a trip and go home with rolls of film to be developed. I found a new film lab near my house, and so instead of my digital camear, I do bring my dji pocket 2 for video, like the old video cameras, to document each day, but for photos, I am using my Canon Canonet, it feels cool, I take more time to take the photo, I enjoy that process, rather than the shotgun approach of over 400 photos a day, I may only take 10 at the most. And then you have memories.. We have a trip planned to Japan again this year for Christmas and I look forward to using this plan.. document the day with my dji pocket2 and take artistic photos and portraits for myself. less, instagram time too.
Very nice and informative, but try not to bang it on the table so much next time. It's horrible to listen to.
Short. Not that informative but I enjoyed the video and personality.
It's been two years, and we never saw the film you took with it! What a crime💀
Omg I’m so sorry! life got in the way! I will definitely do a recent review WITH pictures LOL 😅
Hey em, I know this is an old video, but I think you set your ISO wrong. You put in Fuji 400 and set the ISO to 200. Unless there is a reason for doing this?
Film likes to be exposed to light. I typically expose each film one stop extra.
THANK YOU! You confirmed my theory. I shot half of a roll of film on a trip. At the airport, security wanted me to open the camera. So I rewound the film all the way. (whoops. enter a film picker) Getting back to the spot I was at was the question. Setting the aperture to the smallest is a good tip. I didn't think of that. Thank you!!
Still waiting on the results looking to buy one !
Does it block the rangefinder?
Very little
Can you do this with a Minolta Dynax 3000i which is nog mechanic?
where did you pick up the lens hood and in silver?
Amazon
this is a beautiful film rangefinder. im planning to get one as my 1st film camera. where did you get yours and where did you get the lens hood in silver? ive only seen black lens hoods
Got it on offer up, lens hood on Amazon 😊
Great video! 🙌🏽
Glad you liked it!!
L
Thanks!!
Why do they call this a film camera if it doesn't shoot video is beyond me..this is not the same one I bought by the looks tho
a film camera - A camera that exposes photographic film to light in order to take a picture
If you bought one that does video, thats a digital camera NOT a film camera
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or ignorance, either way it's hilarious lol
Where did you get your sunglasses from. I love them
does this work with point and shoots?
Yes, most will have a tiny pin hole option to rewind mid roll.
Which shutter button is compatible with this camera? :c kinda confused
if the ideal spot is in the middle, does it mean its always at f/5.6?
No. If you are on shutter speed priority mode (A) the needle on the viewfinder will just tell you what aperture the camera is selecting based on the measured light and the chosen shutter speed. If it is in the red zones there is no aperture wider or small enough to give you a proper exposure. If it is at the top at f1.7 that still means proper exposure but you couldnt decrease the shutter speed since the needle would then move into the red zone since there is no aperture wider than 1.7 and you would be overexposed by one stop.
Please can you tell me, if you purchase Pro Mode on the Filca app, I heard that only unlocks Film but not Series, so if I buy the Pro Mode, will I still have to buy the Series as I thought Pro Mode unlocked everything but some people said that is only for the Film but not the Series and video.
What is the battery ?
Where can I buy one? I subscribed
Ebay, keh camera, if your lucky a thrift store or antique store
Where did you get your Lens hood From?
Amazon
I want to get one of these cameras so bad! Just waiting to find a half decent deal on one.
Great video 🎞
Hello, is there vignetting with the lens hood by itself/with the filter? Or can you attach a filter to the outer thread of that lens hood? Thanks very much.
There is only vignetting when you stop down to 1.7
Film makers use colors on the package to indicate the color bias of the enclosed film? Really? REALLY? Either he's just kidding around, a foolish thing to do on YT, where if you say something, half the viewers take it a Truth, or he's an idiot passing along another urban legend. As a review of the camera, 4 out out 10.
where did you buy the 48mm lens hood from? I didn’t find it on amazon. Most of hoods are 49mm. thanks!
Yea when I got it on Amazon there was only a few left. Maybe eBay
Hii ,, I want to know which one is more worth it Canonet QL 17 or Yashica MG 1? I'm a little confused which one is better
Both are great options, just make sure to fix your light seals
Great tips!
I like to get that lens hood for my Canonet but I normally use filters for shotting b&w. Where can you normally place them with this particular type of hood? In between, inside or on the rim of the hood itself? I understand the hood has some threading on rim and can also accept a cover to protect lens? Thanks for the info!
What you do is you put the filter on first and then thread the lens hood over it and it works fine.
@@Rayscameras Thanks for the reply.. Unless you already tried with filter? The downside may be that in making the hood farther from the lens it will add vignetting? considering is a tapered-in hood design but not sure how wide it is and the original hood for this camera is just an straight cylinder.
@@francho2516 I can give it a try and make another video! 😃
He's using a generic, after-market hood here, and he said it vignettes. Add a filter between the lens and this hood and it will vignette more. The real hood made for the camera looks quite similar, but it mounts over the rim of the lens front, so filters can be threaded in without extending the hood. Unhappily, while new that hood cost $5, in the unlikely event you could find one now, it would cost more than most folks would be willing to pay.
OM hood goes around of the nose of the lens. It is fixed with a srew. Filter thread stay free..
Thanks for the Advice Buddy. From Belgium
Where did you get the shutter button from?
I got it from Amazon
Great content! I love the film stock, I think it might actually be my favourite! Subscribed :)
Do you think ae1 program or canon ql17 ? I subscribed :)
Honestly if you want ease-of-use then the AE1 Program because it has the program mode which makes it basically a point and shoot camera. But the beauty of the QL17 is that if your battery dies then you can still use it where the AE1 Program is reliant on batteries. Plus you don’t have to worry about carrying many lenses.
How do you know if it's in focus compared to normal 35mm, no vids online explains that
I will gladly make a quick short video explaining this in the coming week. Stay tune subscribe 😄
Good film for sure. I like that shot at 1:50. That guy with the frog was good too lol.
How do you focus? Love the photos!! They’re superb!
There is a focus tab in the bottom of the lens that you move and thank you!
@@Rayscameras Is it easy to use? I’ve found a seller already haha! I used to own a Minolta X700 but it was quite heavy for me so I sold it.
Yes very easy
What type of battery does it need? What if i don't have the battery
Battery - WeinCell MRB625 However, you can shoot without a battery, which is great! You just have to know how to use the Sunny Sixteen rule.
🙂
Very cool, thanks for sharing.
My husband!
