The NIU holds good. One particular software issue is annoying: Should your smart service run out, the ECU will periodically restart and cause a halt of the system also during the ride. So paying the service is mandatory for a safe ride.

Smaller repairs are needed. Silver Paint on Aluminum is shitty but Batteries are good. Mixed feelings after 4-years, still riding as long as it is not dead. Not sure if I would by a new one where they are not using Bosch Motors anymore.

I'm surprised how many bad revisions I find in the internet for that bike. I needed a long bike for bigger jumps. I'm 1.91m tall, weight 95kg and until now I'm really happy with my choice for this bike. First issues arose from break calibers. Motorcycle calipers usually do not protect the pistons from water. Also I show that I estimate the battery capacity to be still above 90%. The NIU app suggests differently.

Commuting with my 1kW UNU V2. I decided to leave comments and music out since I love the silence when driving my UNU. I'm planning to drive many kilometers with my UNU and I will keep you updated on interesting facts. Up to now I did not regret my decision to buy the UNU basic version. If I want to go fast, I can drive my Kawasaki Versys 650 Motorbike.
Thank you so much for the update and the highlighting the software issue. I also started getting the same "random" restarts and was worried the FOC was faulty.

Mine also cut off showing zero battery.Speed also slower.I need to renew the niu service first then see whats next. Did u check the ecu battery %? Im thinking when the battery is out of juice and i could be after 5 yrs that ll cause all these weird issues because the ecu controles everything.
No problems after paying for the service
I payed for the service there are no issues so far now.Never let the battery of the ecu drain.Next step upgrade keyless remote because mine is older and need a key to start.
@@dokesz530 actually my ecu battery is draining regularly empty as I’m keeping my batteries in the basement. So over the weekend the ecu battery is then dead. No issues so far related with that.
The system is powered permanently from the dc/dc converter, when batteries are connected (this is not the case for the mqi evo or 100). The dc/dc converter is actually responsible for the fast battery drainage when parking the scooter.

Gude, was für Akkus sind bei dem Roller verbaut? Wie schnell kann er laut Tacho fahren, wie ist so die durchschnittliche Reichweite? Grüsse aus Wiesbaden.
Gude, Panasonic, Tacho 77kmh gps 70kmh, 70-80km auf der Autobahn bis man im battery save mode mit 18kmh unterwegs ist.
Krass da sieht man halt die China Qualität. Ich habe meinen N Pro komplett eingewachst und hoffe es wird nicht so schlimm wie bei dir.

I think the argument here is that the ecu is faulty and out of warranty. They do not fix this software problem as newer versions might be without this issue. So I need to replace the ecu by a newer one or pay for the service. Second option was cheaper for me.
Yeah i thinks so cuz i bought a used one but service was expired.Got strange errors like 67 or even 99.The spare battery which power up the ecu also get weaker it can cause all these weird issues.

Hello. My Niu NGT is 5 years old... but only 5000 kms!!! I use it to go to the city center and some short trips. I am very happy with it. I'm glad to see that with the years and the kilometers, it ages very well. Thank you for sharing your experiences with our little motorcycle!!

I see a lot of rust....it may be due to the climate of the country, but I think the rust will be harmful in 4 more years at most.

Mein 2019er NGT hat rund 35.000 km runter. Der Zustand entspricht deinem: Bremsengläser gewechselt, Bremssattel hinten erneuert (korrodierter Kolben), Laufgeräusch vom Motorlager seit ca. 8.000 km, diverse abgerissene Schrauben vom Topcasehalter, Radverkleidung und Tacho (!) durch Kopftsteinpflaster, Der Roller hat aber außer der 1.000er noch nie eine Inspektion gesehen. Alle Mängel sind erst > 25.000 km aufgetaucht. Akku hat 400 Zyklen und gefühlt 95% Kapazität. Ich bin extrem zufrieden

Hello Prometeusz, thanks for your videos, i bought the 2022 model and after 5400km the Niu store told me that my brakes need replacing. I am shocked that the pads is so bad. Do you have any advice or can maybe share a link to the replacement pads that you bought please? For some reason the calipers are eating a groove into the back brake and i think its a factory issue but the Niu garage in Malaga said its not covered by the guarantee.
Sorry , but I’m in Germany so my sources will not help you. I recommend you buy original spare parts as they are quite ok to my mind

Thank you for the video! Got tired of electric kick scooters from Segway getting broken after 5000-10000km, and thought I might buy a propper escooter that would last. But as it seems with those Chineese companies, there are issues with ecooters also. So many repairs on that one after 28 000km. Oh why there is no single escooter on the planet, that could last as my VW Golf, which is 9 years old, has 120 000km and has no rust, no deformation, nothing is falling appart and I`m not feeling unsafe driving it. I think EU should do something about, it promotes electromobility, cycling, low carbon transport. But all of the bikes and scooters are made solely in China, and becoming rusty scrap after few years of usage. Which makes cycling more expensive that driving a petrol 1,5 tonn car, because you need to replace your E-bike every 3 years.

Here in Germany you will find regular online dealers which sell original parts. I do not mess with Chinese suppliers for structurally relevant parts such as brake pads.

Someone can tell me the size of the 2 bolts holding front brake caliper bracket to fork.And are there 2 spacers need it for front rim?
Clean it with wd40 it ll protect ur bike from all corrosion.Lot of owners just dont give a shit and end up with a rusty bike.

Hi i got a used gts with 14 inch rims the front all damaged includes rim broke ass hell so now i did order all parts.But niu has a poor list of parts and not all spare parts are available.Can u check for me please the size of the 2 bolts connected to fork and bracket holding front caliper.Also there are 2 different spacers for front rim if am right? Battery score tylko obliczony jest. Jedyne co ważne to jest rejestracja scootera w aplikacji „cloud service”. Bez połonczenja z internetem, niestety scooter co 30min wykańcza się przez 5sek wczasie jazdy.
@@prometeusz.jasinski ten baterry score to już dotarłem co jest każde ładowanie odejmuje 0,1% czyli by się zgadzało 160 ladowań x 0,1=16% . Bardziej mnie martwi że za niecały rok on będzie 5 letni a producent właśnie na tyle zapewnia żywotność baterii a koszt jej będzie większy niż cały skuter. Napisz proszę ile masz już przebiegu wogole jeśli go masz jeszcze jak się sprawuje co się psuje

@@cbf114 mam 35000 km. Nadal łożyska czymają. A bateria nadal powyżej 90% wydaje się ze ma. Nie widzę różnicy w zasięgu. Ja tez pierwszego scootera mam. prawie 5 lat temu kupiłem.
Since you ride through winter you're exposing it to salt, hence no wonder this moped looks like a rust bucket. The remaining battery capacity is a joke though, how much are they asking for a replacement? BTW the background muzzack, the high hat to be precise, was brain piercingly bad.
Nice reviews mate. I am looking on this ebike but also the ZEHHO one. Would you recommend this NIU or you think there are better solutions?
Currently the Niu seems to be one of the best options. Software support is limited after warranty. The scooter I have needs the cloud service to work properly. I had to pay €50 for to further years to omit lengthy conversations. Super Sochi cpx seems also ok although I hear of a lot rust issues. I’m looking forward to see the BMW C02 next year live.

@@prometeusz.jasinski I won't have to go on roads above a 60mph speed limit so I feel the scooters top speed should hold up. I'm happy to hear you recommend it though, I think this scooter should fit my needs perfectly. Does it go over bumps ok? The roads around here are pretty crappy.

Of course they are shitty quality. These scooters are appx 7999 CNY in the official Chinese Niu store. That's just over 1000 euro. They are low budget vehicles.

@@prometeusz.jasinski That's precisely the issue. We can choose between shitty scooters with decent range, or decent scooters with shitty range. Decent brands like Yamaha, Honda, Kymco, Sym, Piaggio are not willing to introduce a reasonably priced midsized electric scooter with sufficient range for commuting. I don't want to pay €3500 for this type of questionable quality. :( In Taiwan you can find Gogoro e-scooters for around €2000 and they also have a battery swap network + other brands are integrating their battery system. Much better situation than here.

Question: do you usually charge to 100%?
Always. The handbook recommends to stay between 20% and 80%, but the scooter has no setting to stop charging earlier. This is a flaw as from my understanding lifetime can be extended by charging less. However, typically I do not store the batteries fully charged over several days.
@@prometeusz.jasinski I have kind of fixed it by programming so the charger turns off when drawing less than 750 watt for 1 min, equals to 85-90%, but it works so and so since it doesn't charge (for me) the batteries even. However, having that kind of % left in the batteries after almost 30K km is still very good I think.
What range do you get on this?. I'd just be getting the standard range version which is 3120WH of energy. And I'd have to leave it uncovered at work so is it able to handle water.
Rain is no issue. I have the double battery option with a range of at least 70km full speed until I get below 20-30%. 1% per kilometer.
@@prometeusz.jasinski they've finally got most of their scooters on a good sale here in the UK until the start of September so I think now is the time. Just don't know whether to get this one or pay a little more for the EVO.
@@JudeTheTH-camPoopersubscribe please checkout forums for the evo. Here we had a lot of issues with the hall sensors in the motor + an empty 12v battery in the evo leads to a scooter which you can’t start. The NGT has no 12v battery.
@@prometeusz.jasinski surely the 12 volt battery thing can apply to literally any vehicle? NIU warn in the Manual not to leave the vehicle without power for extended periods of time Incase that battery runs flat. I'm basically tied between the GTS 4600W or GT EVO 6500W. the GTS has all the same smart features just a few hundred cheaper and about 15mph slower.
@@JudeTheTH-camPoopersubscribe not totally correct. My has no keyless feature. I can charge my batteries in the basement or leave the bike over a longer period of time without batteries and it will start after that. The evo not. The internal dc dc converter drains 30W all the time in my bike. So leaving batteries in the bike are not an option. Especially at sub zero temperatures. Batteries stored outside will complain and possibly malfunction with an error code (had this one time when I tried it).

Hi, many thanks your regular reviews of the NIU scooter. They gave me the confidence to buy a 2021 GTS Pro with close to 10k on the clock. Now, after a couple of months using it, I have noticed that the batteries are not depleting at the same rate. One has consistently less capacity than the other, for example, at the moment one is at 79% and the other at 73% capacity. Could you or anyone else commenting here found the same problem and, if so, could this be an issue? Also, the fork seems a bit loose, has anyone come across with a video explaining how to tighten it? Thanks!!!
This may be the software bug which is present at my scooter. It manifests itself as follows: you charge the batteries fully but you ride only a couple of km and charge is still above 90%. Then you switch the scooter off and leave it for some time. Suddenly one of the two batteries is reported to have full charge again. You would get a notification and you would see it in the charge diagrams.

Ich mag die Serie , habe einen niu nqi Sport seit etwa über einen Jahr und bei mir gehen die Lackteile auch schon etwas ab, wirst du dahingehend auch noch was ändern oder es so lassen , sieht ja nicht so schön aus. Bis jetzt mussten nur die Bremsbeläge hinten erneuert werden und der Fernlichtschalter erneuert werden da dieser während der Fahrt manchmal grundlos anging. Sind denn Rost an den Stellen wie Federung hinten und Federgabel vorne perse sicherheitskritisch oder wie sieht's dabei aus ? Ich weiß halt auch nicht genau wie gut du im Thema bist, sry deswegen für die viele Fragen falls du damit nichts anfangen kannst.
Moin, bis jetzt ist alles nur kosmetisch. Wenn man sich Autos von unten anschaut, ist korrosion leider zu erwarten. Ich hätte mich halt bei Alu über einen Korrosionsschutz ähnlich dem an den Bremssätteln oder Alufelgen gefreut. Auf kurz oder lang wird Korrosion die Haltbarkeit reduzieren. @@prometeusz.jasinski Danke für die Antowort. Ja im Endeffekt ist das Nutzen das wichtigste , aber du hast ihn auch schon 4 Jahre, ich glaube wenn ich 4 Jahre oder mehr mit dem Roller schaffe bin ich schon sehr zufrieden. :D
