Los Angeles Local Camping Lupine Campground - Day 3 - Video from Before the Fire - Angeles Forest
I upload this Video with a Heavy heart, behind Mt High ski resort I found a Hidden forest Paradise so close to home. Minutes from Mt High Ski Resort we had 3 beautiful little campgrounds off the beaten path and to get to them you'd need to pass thru the ski resort lifts. If you haven't been here it was a very cool experience to partake in before reaching the summit of the truck trail as it reveles extremely beautiful views of the Angeles Forest. Unfortunately the recent Bridge fire seems to have erased this local paradise off the mountain. I will go investigate soon exactly what has remained of this area as soon as the roads open. Prayers to those affected by the fires, my heart is with you.

Looking at the Cal Fire website and unfortunately it seems Lupine, Guffy and Blue ridge campgrounds where hit. They will most likely close the entire trail now. Please check before heading out there.

Today well camp in another local area campground. My orginal plan was to check out Buckhorn, unfortunately I passed the last gas station think 3/4 take was enough only to fall short. So I stopped at Manzanita Loop in the Chilao Campground at site 23 and the sunset did not disappoint. #4x4offroad #camping www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/angeles/recarea/?recid=41780

I know it's a lot of work to keep making videos but I appreciate the Reality That you don't need a $100000 Jeep Full of expensive gadgets To enjoy nature Keep on keeping it real.
Very true man thank you. But If all goes well hopefully Ill upgrade to a newer vehicle over the years to come at some point. Just can't afford it now but your right, Im still enjoying it out here.
Beautiful looking area. Great trail
It really is!
These recent fires have damn near left us with no choice but to endure the 4.5 hr drive up to Mammoth. It's too bad.
Im going to check out the mountians around frazier park soon, hopefully ill find some good places. Also lower sierra exploring soon.
i noticed that you were near mountain high in one of your earlier videos - was thinking about heading over that way to check it out some time as i am only about 90 mins away. so sad that the fires have affected this area - would be interested to see what you discover when you go investigate.
Man, this was my first off-road trail ever! I did it in my ex's old pathfinder, that was rear wheel drive all stock! We were able to make it all the way to the top and only got stuck when we moved to the side to left an old 3rd gen 4runner move through. They were going to help us out, but we eventually were able to get enough traction to slip out the rut. Saw the guy drive super fast, driving backwards on that old 3rd gen. That's when I knew 4runners were beasts. I ended up buying a 4th gen v8 4runner. I've been slowly building it up over these past 2-3 years. Lift, all terrain tires, 4x4, suspension goodies, exhaust, light pods, roofrack, raptor lined rock sliders, you name it! I'm basically mostly done with the build aside for cosmetics like fixing the paint job. My goal is to do this trial again. Back to were it all started! I've done tons of trails on my runner, but his will always have a special place in my heart.
You rig sounds great, I still got a ways to go but Im happy so far. I stopped by the trail head twice this week and the gate was open
awesome, the road looks decent can i trailor a 20 ft RV up there? is it dispersed camping?
I wouldn't try it, the end is very rutted and kinda hairy in a few spots. You should go for the day and check it out first without a trailer.
Just up there today. Never put my in 4wd
Happy you seen it. Howd you like it there?
Cool vid brotha... Looks amazing up there. Think I'll check it out in a couple of weeks
Hold off its closed right now, kanme sure you check the website incase its closed indefinitely.
Looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully the Bridge fire gets under control quickly. Looks like this area is being affected right now sadly.
I hope so too
Shame this campground is closed because of a fire nearby. Beautiful spot.
Yes I feel very lucky to have been there.
nice and quiet spot, is 4x4 necessary or just high clearance?
Normal clearance is fine just go slow in those spots.
You're officially the "vault toilet" review guy at the local campgrounds. I wouldn't be using them. They look blown out! I'll be taking a $#!t in the woods just like a bear. Keep up the great vids!!! I'm a year behind you. I inherited my dads 1972 K20 and I' putting a 4" lift with 35's and am looking for an Alaskan camper to add to it. Hoping to cross your path sometime up there.
Thank you man. Appreciate the feedback. Yes please send me you IG or other social so i can keep up with you and your truck.
@@Echo16outdoors Ten4. You may have been the last person to of camped here. Do you think the campground got wiped out by the bridge fire? www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/2024/9/8/bridge-fire
Hey brother I love the video but I'm sorry to say that camera your using doesn't do Justice 😂
Thank you and ya i know, these places are more beautiful than i can show but Im learning. I appreciate you checking out my video thank you
Check your TH-cam settings. It was looking very blurry for me, and I noticed that my settings on my TV was set to 360p. I set it to 1080 and the video looks perfect
@@developeqm No it's not that my TV Is set to 1080P For me it's not blurry it's granny And the auto focus is very poor quality I'm telling you it's the handheld camera that he uses Because the drone shots are good I really like his videos too but I'm just trying to give him some positive inputs so he can make the channel grow .
From Lytle Creek to Lupine campground how long is gonna take ?
About one hour I think, you'll need to go around threw wrightwood. It's worth checking out.
Very nice video , I love it
Thank you I appreciate the support.
i enjoy watching your videos i can’t wait to get out back to a campground.
Thank you, thats why I do it. Hope you get out there soon.

I've always wanted to check out that part of the trail. Looks hella fun!
yes do check it out !! its awesome!
You could have drove deeper in there to Cabin Flat campground.
really? It looked like it was closed to motorized but I did see too trucks come out in the morning. I would like to check it out! Maybe next time. How is it down there?
@@Echo16outdoors My buddy and I did it at night time. Had to winch a few trees that fell across the road. It was kinda spooky back there since it seems to be an abandoned campground.

How did you like it?
@@Echo16outdoors i stayed in chilao- little pine loop campground in two sites in the middle of the loop that was shaded with trees and plenty of room for the kids to play in . I had been wanting to camp there since 2022 . We Want to check out buckhorn next. Great video btw
I love these. Please keep them coming.
ofcourse, Thanks for all the support
Would a 20 foot rv travel trailer make it up ?
I wouldn't recommend it. Are you close enough to check it out first before you take your trailer.
Did you need to air down or use fwd for that trail?
Its paved road the entire way. No and no.
Got to love that view with some coffee
i Agree
How was the light pollution from Los Angeles? I’m looking for a stargazing area with dark sky and “kinda” close by. And not in the Joshua Tree area.
Never mind, I asked half way thru the video. I’m past the 20 minute mark and I can see the answer. Happy travels!!!
its not bad, the camera picks up more light to the sensor.
Amateur astronomers go to Mt Pinos. At 8300’ it’s one of the best spots near LA for stargazing.
Used to go up there back in the 90's. Great spot. It gets windy, but the view is worth it.
Ive been luck so far nno wind
Great Video, reminded me when I used to camp all over Angeles Nat forest and Los Padres Nat forest.
All over? dang I definitely need to explore more.
Well done. Nice and mellow. 2hrs from home, not too shabby. I have a spot up near Angeles Oaks that is pretty remote with little traffic. This one is a good option too if I'm not heading to the Owens Valley/Death Valley region.
Yes it's definitely a must to stop and check out.
bro, how cool. that site has some nice views. my daughter and i were their about a month ago. i’ll be heading to coldbrook early tomorrow morning for a getaway with the family before the kids start school.
Where is coldbrook at?
@@Echo16outdoors sorry for the late response we got back from camping from coldbrook yesterday. coldbrook is in the angeles national forest up highway 39 (azusa rd) total of 22 campsites. dry camping, fills up quick and very busy in the summer time. i showed last wednesday at 5:45 in the morning and only 2 sites were available. i suggest if interested go on a monday morning to secure a site. first come first serve basis $12 dollars a night can accommodate your truck/camper set up.

Me too but it was a little busy with people. But the do have some beautiful camping spots
Sunsets at Chilao are awesome!

Hey brother. I Love watching your channel. Out of the many overlanding channels, yours and the taco dude are the best. I use to live in Pico Rivera. I’m now in Tennessee, and the south sucks when it comes to the outdoors. Nasty humidity, and absolutely nothing to do. I miss California very much.
