The Side Hustle EVERYONE Should Know About
awesome video. how do you use to market your services.?
Sir nice!! Do you have problem with theft and how do you deal with?
So long story short you didnt make any money yet but youre on the way to.. another misleading title
What kind of vehicle do you use to pull it around??
Thanks man
If you tried making money with a trailer here in the suburbs of Philly you would be lucky to make $20k in a year. Every supply house delivers landscaping materials for cheap, Home depots all rent dump trailers, trailer companies rent them and private people rent them. No money to be made on one in this area.
How many tons can you haul with your trailer friend?😊
What type of truck would I need to tow that trailer?
Recommend a three-quarter ton minimum. 250 super duty, 2500 HD, etc.
What do you pull that trailer with?
F250 diesel
I purchased my Lamar 5X10 single axel last year and profited about 4K over the course of the year. I charge $225 per run (48hr load period) plus the dump fee. Im lucky to live on a well traveled road so the lettering on the side of the trailer as been the main way I've advertised. I think after this year I'm going to trade it in for a 7X14 K&N which will hopefully bring in more money per use. This is a good side hustle if you have the ability to advertise it.
I love them trailers! Glad to hear it is turning into something nice for you.
Paid mine off in 2 weeks 😅
So do you use it yourself or rent it more? If I'm understanding you right you do both. I'm just curious which one you do the most of. Or which one you will hope to do more of in the future.
Hey ive started doing a ton of the jobs your listing, but i dont have much business, have the llc and insurance. Havent bought a trailer yet, have a f350 with 8ft bed, trying to stay low cost upfront since im personally funding it. Any tips on low cost marketing to start to gain some business??
What’s the brand of those lights? Great content
The dot part is a bit misleading. It’s not based on your weight it’s based on your gross combined weight. Meaning if your truck is 10k gvwr and you have a trailer with tandem 8k axles as soon as you hook up weather the trailer is empty or full you’re not legal and the fine is huge. And that’s with a 3/4 ton truck. If you run 350/3500 or bigger you have even less weight available for trailer non cdl
How do you make sure it doesn't get stolen?
What was the cost of acquiring commercial insurance... deposit and all. I know things can differ, but what's a ball park#?
Bro help me. I’m in San Antonio Tx and feel like there is an endless supply of customer available
Watch my video called the secrets to get customers.
@@Haroldsheavydutythank you, I will
No need to curse!
Did I?
What about business insurance and rental insurance? That's a big factor people don't take into effect. Woth society so sue happy its a need.
this is amazing. Can you explain how did you set up the contractor account please?
Ive been thinking, "do you need a broom or shovel at all". Maybe you mentioned this in a video before and Just havnt caught up yet haha
Definitely helps!
What do you do if they just want to pick up? Do you keep a pile of rock at your house?
How are you getting these clients to haul rock? Do you have a relationship with a rock quarry?
I have a contractors account. I covered it in another video.
Awsome video!!! Very helpful!!!
What’s the link to that trailer and what’s the size
What are you charging to drop the trailer? Is that a daily rate?
It depends on the situation. I have a daily rate for Rentals and then I have a drop off and pick up service
I've been thinking of getting a 7x14 dump trailer for about five years. My friend does it but the initial investment is a little steep and running the business is a little challenging.
One of my friends has two trailers and does this same thing. I've been talking to him about it and wouldn't interfere with his business because we live about 45 minutes away from each other. His smaller trailer is I think a 7x14 and the larger one is I think a 7x18. He is a solo operator. Much of the time he parks the bigger one at a job for them to fill up and he hulls it to the dump. The other one he delivers mostly rock. The problem is that I might not have the correct size of truck. I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 diesel, 4x4, manual transmission, 8' bed and it's not a duly. The issue is a duly and I'm not sure if my transmission is strong enough. He has a 2022 GMC duly with an Allison transmission.
You have a good truck. Just figure out your tow capacity and payload. Payload plays into the tongue weight. And you can always look into a weight distribution hitch as well
@@nickc7320 Those are good points that I didn't know about. I've also heard that I could install air shocks. I just talked to my friend about this and he said that I will go through breaks and rear tires pretty fast. He also said that my manual transmission won't last as long as an automatic transmission and the trailer prices have shot up in price almost double in just two or three years which is crazy.
How much do you charge to pickup and dispose of a load & how long do you give for the loading?
How can I find rock delivery business for my area
If you go to the 16 foot gooseneck you can carry up to 22 yards with 4 foot sides I found a tri axel dump 2 years old looked brand new the first month it was paid off I keep my delivery radius tight for free 10 miles 10 to 25 is 75 dollars 25 to 50 is 150 above that depends
How do you price your loads? Do you up charge like 30% from whatever the load cost you from the quarry?
Hey, Austin! I'm going through your videos and learning so much. Really appreciate your transparency and willingness to share. I know it's time consuming to put out your videos. I have a 2002 F250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke diesel which mostly sits when we're not using it to tow our fifth wheel. Been thinking about using it to make some passive income and think I might have a good way, thx to you and your videos. In this particular one, I really dig that black or grey (hard to tell!) Ford with the black flatbed. I'd consider getting a flatbed for ours as well, especially for a gooseneck dump trailer eventually (would probably start out with a bumper tow first). Anyhoo, thx again and God bless! 😊🙏🏼👍🏼
I'm not trying to denigrate you and your analysis, however, not counting your time when you talk about the payback is a bit misleading (even though you disclosed that fact). You should factor in a decent pay rate in your calculations to get a fair look at the business (as well as vehicle expenses, insurance, etc.). Your payback is probably more like two years if you throw all the other expenses in. Still not bad. Most businesses would be happy with that. And, if you make it a full-time job rather than a side hustle, it could be as low as a couple of months. It seems like the potential is there.
right on man PTL
Harold this is great. I’m 60 retired. My 19 year old son is not going to college. He cannot stand all the wokeness and the lifestyles of college students. We are going to start this dump trailer business. Any insight would be great. Thank you.
You'll have lots of father - son time enjoy !
How are you getting your clients?
I just did a video on this titled the secret to getting customers for this. Mostly Facebook.
Here in Colorado you need a CDL to pull any trailer over 10,000K.
No you don't
I got the 2025 pj same specs as yours but with 2ft walls. Not bad we just add another 2ft in wall space via wood boards when needed
Love it!
Praise the Lord, indeed! He's worthy of praise. Amen!
Agreed!
So are ya a Veteran? Great video about the F-250 and I’ve watched what Tow Piglet has said about the newer F250-350 trucks and their transmissions vs Dodge & Duramax. I also bought mine w cash for $7,000 & it’s a base model and was heavily used for the oil fields and the dust is glued to the panels . I like how ya upgraded to a newer model of panels and I’ll look into doing that . TruckMaster Garage is another source of my truck upgrades information and I’ve learned a lot from him about increasing performance, cooling the engine & transmission & even beefing up my brake booster by buying a 2011 for my 08 Duramax.
Yes sir! Man 7K that's a good deal! Thank you for the tips as well.
Oh and in my neighborhood many of the guys that have these trailers work in Austin .
How do you advertise for this!? Great video!
Mostly Facebook! I just did a video on this called the secrets to get customers as well
That’s a great side hustle! Gr8 video
Thank you!
Where do you find deliveries
Facebook. I actually just did a video on this called the secrets to getting customers for this
@ thanks bro I’ll check it out
I am very happy for you and inspired! I see a compact-track-loader in your near future :-)
I see one too :) and thank you!
What tracker do you use?
AirTag for now!
Who do u sell rock too? Do you reach out to other companies who do rock work or just run ads for hauling because I’m 66 and I’m looking to do something it’s not as hard on my body I’m a roofing contractor but I thought about doing some trash haul off and dumping and things of that nature so I was just curious and I really appreciate the fact that you give God the glory because I’m also a Christian, so you’re in the right place so little information that would be great. God bless.
Mostly residential homes/families. I actually did a video recently on how I get customers for this as well. It was called the secret to getting customers for this… seems there's a lot you can do with these trailers in general!
Let's make this perfectly clear - this trailer is for a vehicle that has a hitch that is attached to the FRAME of the vehicle and NOT the bumper!!! So to say it is a bumper pull is misleading ! ! !
I mean that's actually what they're called so I'm not wrong but you're not wrong...
@Haroldsheavyduty Thanks for the clarification. That's a great looking trailer!!!
