    Really like that Chessnut EVO is an integrated system. No smart phone, computer, nor tablet computer required, which eliminates bluetooth connection problems and frees up those devices for other tasks. Playing chess on-screen does nothing to prepare you to play chess over-the-board (OTB). Seeing, feeling, and touching actual chess pieces is important. Imagine future developments that enable the Chessnut EVO board to automatically move opponent's pieces. That would be so cool!

      I will consider making a short comparison video whenever possible. The main differences lie in how the LEDs look and the board surface.

  • @seeh_chess
    @seeh_chess 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    In the worst case, the blue light from LEDs can lead to inflammation in the eyes and loss of vision. Cold white LED light appears to be particularly harmful. Warm white light from an LED source, on the other hand, is said to be less harmful to the eyes.

    At the bottom end there is a very narrow strip. I think you could attach a small cardboard wall to it with a rubber band if you want to play half-blind chess. So that the piece is mainly only seen from one side. Hmm. Could be a try if you have fun with it.

      @@All-Awesome thats great! <3 Do you have any idea how many years the board will work? A normal board (mechanical) works forever. @seeh_chess batteries aren't meant to be easily swapped on this, I haven't seen any latch on this for batteries replacement, the control unit (Black bar) may need to be dismantled. As for the battery life, it should last long if stored half charged.

      Yes, it is quite pricey for the bag. I suppose it goes to manufacturing costs and branding. You could also do with a sleeve for protection. A laptop bag is fine so long as you can find one for it's size. I used a cheap pouch for one of my chess computers.

      Hello ! I may compare these later on. I have a video about the Chessnut Evo on my channel. The Evo is ofcourse more expensive, has piece recognition and in built screen, it's more customizable than the Chessup and you're able to install Chess apps like Chess Dojo. Chessup is great for beginners and learners, and it's more simple to use, but lags some features that Evo has. They'll soon release Chessup 2 with inbuilt wifi. You may want to wait for that, or else choose the Evo. If you want to play against harder engines and be able to get more updated features, the Evo may be your best option. Both of them can be used for online play lichess and chess.com Hope this helps! Thanks for your comment!
