Very heavy turbulences in a A380
I was on a flight from Los Angeles to London a few days before Christmas 2016. The plane was a A380, operated by British Airways. I was sitting on the upper deck, last row. Less than 1 hour after take off we flew through very heavy turbulences. I never thought a A380 could shake that heavily. It was by far the heaviest turbulences I have experienced. I started recording after 5 minutes, because I found this very unusual. In the video you hear a few people shouting after a sick bag. I stopped recording after 4 more minutes because I thought its over. But then suddenly it got even worse, things flew from the service carriage and you nearly got lifted of the seat a few times. Over all it lasted around 15 minutes.

Hello, I'd love to use this video in a documentary I am working on about turbulence - would that be ok with you? Thanks :)

When the cabin crew are told to be seated it's a sure sign pilots anticipate more chop. When the cabin crew start screaming you should too. Until then, relax and make another shaky hand video like this one :)

As an active A380 pilot, I can say you were really lucky.

Even the largest aircraft is tiny in a big sky. I would have been afraid even tho these aircraft are extremely safe.

I felt dizzy only from watching this🤯🤯 I hate turbulence, however I try to think of a few things while this is happening: 1. Trust that the pilots know what they are doing and that you will safely arrive at your destination. 2. Think of it as a bumpy road that you are travelling on just like when you travel by car. 3. Also, if turbulence was this dangerous? Do you think anyone would actually work with flying planes and being the crew up there if there was a severe risk of dying every day? Besides, don't you think we would read about accidents literally EVERY DAY if that was the case? 4. This might sound easier said than done but try to focus on your breathing. During all my last flights, I kept these notes written down on a paper to have a look at from time to time.

Simple turbulence check if the cabin crew are told to buckle up, it's going to be a rough ride, had it happen British Airways LAX to LHR in 1987, lasted for 1 hour and 10 minutes, terrifying.

I was on a WestJet from LaG to Jax this week that did that for an hour and a half till we hit southern GA and calmed down. The pilots were not talking the entire flight...was a bit nerve-wracking.

Turbulence is air It’s going to be fine. Be worried if there was no air up in the sky. Air is what keeps the world going.

Turbulence on a380 Dubai to London - 4hrs shaking out of 7hrs flight, horrible side to side landing with late reverse as if we were going to take off after landing. Nearly 2am, still can’t sleep

A380 is less likely to experience this kind of turbulence being it's large mass. Like a boat to a ship with kinda big waves. You dont feel the waves in a bigger vessel as you would in a much smaller one.

Try one day to A380 fly emirates from Dubai to Egypt there is a heavy turbulence in that route it doesn't care the size of the plane the turbulence almost causing an accident at A380 plane and I was in that plane traveling

I hate turbulence even though I know it's safe. You just have to sit through it and sooner than later usually you'll get smoother air. Most of the time, once I flew from Japan to LA and it was 8 hours of bumps, of course nothing happened though, safe flight.

Dude, this is very heavy for a A380. I am a privat pilot by myself,I also fly gliders. For a plane of the size of an A380, these are very heavy turbulences.
