The further I get into the show, the truer Jesse's words get. At the beginning you want to deny it, but Walter White did indeed ruin the lives of everyone who ever dealt with him.

To anyone who thinks Walt ruined Gus' empire. Walt's Ego wasn't the cause of the problems with Gus, He didn't want to "be the man", he was fine with cooking for Gus, he had no intention of becoming the boss, all he wanted was to cook peacefully for Gus until he gets enough money for his family. He was peacefully working for Gus until Jesse ruined everything by trying to kill Gus's dealers, he has to save him later even though that ruined his relationship with Gus. That was the cause of all problems, everything he did later was to protect himself or Jesse. He had to kill him at the end because Gus was going to murder Hank because of His investigation, and he told Walt that if he tries to interfere, he would kill his entire family. He was going to kill Walt to. He had to poison Brock to get Jesse back on his side to kill Gus. He gave him the right amount so he would survive, and was relieved when Jesse told him that he's going to make it. Now imagine if he didn't poison that child, Hank would've been murdered, probably even Walt's family, and Walt himself, even Jesse wasn't really safe. He does have a pretty big Ego, but it wasn't the problem here. If you rewatch Season 3, you'll see that Walt was satisfied with his Job, and didn't want to take Gus' place. Gus' downfall is on Jesse.
