FUN WEEDING IN JAPANESE RICE FIELD
Meet Karzo, our remote control weeding machine, helping us clear the rice field after harvest!
We were all set to prep for the next planting season-cutting the leftover paddy and working the soil-but Karzo had other plans! It decided to take a break, so now we’re on repair duty before we can get back to work. Farming fun, right?

HARVESTING SISHO FOR NEW BLENDED TEA
มุมมอง 40921 วันที่ผ่านมา
This month, we're excited to experiment with a new tea blend-Houjicha with Shiso! Last spring, we sold out of our seasonal Wakoucha Shiso blend, so we thought now would be the perfect time to introduce something fresh, especially using Houjicha as the base. Our neighbor, an elderly man, has a small garden bursting with red Shiso-when I say a lot, I mean a lot! He’s been regularly updating Daiki...
MAKING EMA FOR "ADOPT TEA TREE" PROGRAM
มุมมอง 266หลายเดือนก่อน
Currently less than 2% of tea produced in Japan is farmed organically. Aside from requiring a higher amount of investment and time, one challenge we need to tackle is not just producing organic tea, but organic tea that is delicious. Every year we plant new seedlings to expand organic tea farm. - In 2022, we adopted new cultivar, Komakage駒影 and Houshun鳳春. - In 2023, we adopted new cultivar, Yum...
RICE HARVEST IN JAPANESE COUNTRYSIDE
มุมมอง 546หลายเดือนก่อน
Due to unusually high temperatures, we harvested earlier than our usual mid-September period. With more experience in the fields, we harvested 815 kg of rice this year, up from 620 kg last year. The main reason for the increased harvest was successful planting. In rice fields, weeds can absorb nutrients and reduce yields, so it's essential to cultivate the rice early to prevent weed growth. Thi...
FERTILIZING ORGANIC TEA FARM
มุมมอง 222หลายเดือนก่อน
We fertilize our tea farms 3 times a year. It's actually easier to grow organic tea plant because we don't need to do much maintenance. However, the taste of tea won't be as tasty. So, to unsure that we produce high quality and tasty organic tea, we need to invest to maintain a healthy and nutritious soil by putting an organic fertilizers. Similar to how Australian consumes Kangaroo due to the ...

Harvesting Sencha Gokou
มุมมอง 1534 หลายเดือนก่อน
At the end of May, d:matcha harvested its Gokou farms. They started by taking off the tea cover, and move it to the parking lot. After the field was cleaned from the cover, Daiki used a blower to remove the water on the tea leaves. There was a rain a few days prior to the harvesting day. So, it’s essential to reduce the amount of water collected with the tea. Next, d:matcha team spread the tea ...

Truly a wonderful, informative video ! Arigato 🥰🙏🇯🇵
Thank you so much for watchinggg! We really appreciate it ^o^
I stayed in tea moon 2 weeks ago. I miss Wazuka so much already! Thank you for the informative videos Daiki!
You're welcome anytime! And we're so happy hosting you during your stay :)
Good video. Thanks!
HAVEST in your thumbnail. HARVEST is the word you were shooting for.
Thank you so much for noticing that! Really appreciate it. We fixed it ^^
Thank you for another lovely video! It was very interesting to learn about shiso!
It's a pleasure!
Can’t wait for part 2! Your videos brighten up my day! Please make them longer
Thank you so much! Your comment is so meaningful for us! Please stay tune ^o^
Is there anything that the Japanese do wrong?
Yes...religion. 😁
Congrats on the harvest!
Thank you! ^^
Wow! So interesting to watch. If you had to do it by hand, it would be so much work just to get enough rice for one pot! 🍚
DMatcha is a tea company, so the rice is probably use to make genmaicha too
@@HungQDang That's true! We use our rice for Genmaicha, Vegan Rice Flour Cookies, and Genmaicha Granola ^o^
Thanks for the video! Do you all still use your Instagram? I sent a DM there with a question.
This is awesome! I’m so curious to come and learn more about matcha! 🍵
Amazing video daiki san!
Great video as always! It's really cool getting a look at the organic farming methods!
Hello Daiki, I knew the Asamushi as Futsumushi. Is the name differs depending on the region you are ? Is Futsumushi a more common appellation in the Tokyo area ?
Thank you for taking the trouble to make all these videos! They are all very instructive and helped me to understand and enjoy more the green teas. And green tea (especially the Japanese ones) have really changed my life and health!
thank you for the interesting content! I enjoy very much your videos. I found the music in this vide a bit strong and it was a bit more difficult to follow the explanations.
Thank you so much for watching, and giving your feedback. We will keep in mind for our future videos ☺
So interesting to see the process, thank you for sharing! 🍃 Also the praying mantis are so cute... good guys for eating lots of bugs!
I really enjoy your videos! Love from USA ❤
It looks like you have some Muslim customers and even Muslim employees at d:matcha. Would you consider getting a halal certification to ensure more people can enjoy all of your cakes, sweets, and confections without worry for alcohol content? It doesn't seem like most ingredients used at your factories are problematic for halal guidelines anyways - and our community would LOVE to be able to support you further! Please consider this, as it is an unfortunate rarity in Japanese products. どうもありがとうございます💚
it looks delicious!
Thank you for another beautiful video! I hope the vests kept you comfortable. I'm looking forward to making some matcha lattes with this tea sometime in the future!
Visiting d:matcha was my favorite part of my Japan trip! So nice seeing a successful harvest-- thanks for sharing :)
Looks so lovely at d:matcha in the summer time!
Honest and hard work to make such a delicate and beautifully tasty product that I enjoy halfway across the world. Love and respect from USA 🇺🇸❤️🇯🇵
Thank you for enjoying our tea 🙏
Hi I am from India I love farming I like your video I want to have a conversation with you on Google meet is it possible
Hi, kindly share your interest via email to us to info@dmatcha.com
Do you have a tea shop? If yes, where?
Yes, we do. It's here maps.app.goo.gl/1BbtT83CfLPK4ATQA thank you ☺
I really enjoyed this video! Thank you for sharing. You seem like jolly folks, and what a beautiful farm!
I really enjoy these videos giving us a look at the actual tea farming! Thank you so much!
It's interesting to see how the tea bushes are cut in order to get that loooong tube shape over time! And omg yes baby trees are such deer snacks... maybe tree cages could help next time! Do deer ever eat the tea bushes or do they leave them alone? Thank you for the video! 🌱
Deer indeed is clever, they can always make their way to enjoy our tea even tho we have put an electric cage surrounded some of our tea farms 😄
🍃✨❤
Just met the owner Kanei of d:matcha Sapporo! What a wealth of knowledge and friendliness. And perfect English. Love that tea and its quality. Very much recommend this place! Leaving with a pefect cup of matcha. Arigato gozaimasu!
This course was one of the best experiences I have had! I am so glad to see another class come through 💚
Thank you so much for joining the class last year!
So cool to see these videos, and I love ordering matcha from y’all. Much Love from USA🇺🇸
Thank you for being our loyal customer! Your support means a lot for us :)
Thats amazing! Where can I find information about registering to the school? I am visiting Japan soon and very interested in the course!
Kindly check this dmatcha.com/products/tea-business-school-for-tea-entrepreneurs, the next class (which is the last one for this year) will be held on 17 - 20 September 2024. Come joining us! :)
What kind of shiboridashi is this and where can i get it?
Hello, to get as much caffeine as you show in the book, do we need to brew 5 or 10 grams of Gyokuro? You brewed 5 grams, but no more than 50 ml of water, and the book says 100 ml of water. It seems to me that it would be more correct to write how much koin is contained in 5 grams of dry leaf. Thank you.
That was amazing! Thank you for uploading. A quick question. I heard that Nobunaga Oda was obsessed with tea ceremonies. In that case (a high rank host) will he be the person making the tea or will it be one of the house servants?
Sen no Rikyu (who realised the concept of wabi sabi) performed the tea ceremony for Nobunaga to drink.
@@jyeo5556 thank you for the info! ❤️
This is so cool to watch. ❤ (I'm from Rachel and Jun's channel).
these are amazing tips!! 😊
Thank you for the informational video! It was very nice! Keep up the uploads! ❤️
Amazing video! Please keep it up. Your videos are what brightens my day in these tough times. We need a video on where to go for tea tourism in Japan! 👍🏻
Thank you for saying that! That means a lot to us! Really appreciate it :) We will make more documentation on our Tea Tour for you and others to enjoy as well. Stay tune
Excellent video, very informative, thank you!
Thank you for watching, Beth-san! :)
❤❤❤
So nice <3
Very informative for me. I wouldn't call the koicha a paste however; if anything it appears more like a sauce.
Great!!! Thank you
Hi! We did your tour at the beginning of this month and really loved it! Thank you for showing us around! 🤗
Thank you for coming! We really appreciate your visit ☺
Why choose machine over hand picking?
We also do handpick harvesting in other farm, kindly watch here th-cam.com/video/cqimkJT-P-Y/w-d-xo.html, and the rest we do with this manual machine for efficiency and limited human resource. All method are good because we only harvest the best part of the tea buds :)
Hi. Do you have any plan to make Gyokuro with other cultivars like Okumidori, Samidori, and Yabukita?
Not in the near future. Gyokuro should have rich umami cultivar which we can get from Gokou. Also, to build the facility for producing tea to become Gyokuro is very costly. Therefore, we will only focus on Gokou cultivar now, especially because it's Kyoto's cultivar and we are in Kyoto Prefecture.
This is really cool to see... thank you! 🍃
