People who trash reissues are doing it to preserve the Mystic of their OG pressings that they paid way too much for and aren't in great condition or got for a song and want the value to remain high. If a reissue sounds better or just as good and is 1/10th the price of an OG in VG condition, im buying the reissue everyday of the week. I love this new scam of "limited numbered" (oh but were gonna press thousands more unnumbered after all you fools buy the numbered ones) Are we paying for numbers now?

Kind of weird to say but I don’t really have a wish list. I just find some thing and say hey I want that or get inspired by a video. My Amazon wish list is huge but nothing that is make or break. I hope you had a great Christmas Kendall.

Sounds like a great year! Some of my favorites this year were the Sahib Shihab RSD limited release, and a couple of thrift store gems I dug up - Roberta Flack's debut album First Take, and Randy Travis' Old 8 x 10. My big grail find this year was a 1974 Japanese import of McCoy Tyner's Nights of Ballads & Blues, one of my favorite jazz albums. For 2025, however, my vinyl resolution is to focus on the metal! I've been listening to a ton of 80s metal the past couple of months, and it's an area of my collection that is sorely lacking. I'm determined to fix that in 2025 even if I have to go for quality over quantity.

It's funny cause I've never liked country but last year Stephen Wilson Jr came out with an album. I accidentally caught him on some Saturday CBS music thing where he was playing a couple songs this past summer. Then in a vinyl group, someone turned me into an album called cutting grass vol 1 by Sturgill Simpson that I enjoyed. He has a new moniker of Johnny Blue Skies and that album that came out this year that's really good. Recently on someone's top list, they had Charley Crockett, $10 Cowboy on it. Very awesome vintage sounding voice and they used 6-12 musicians on every song and recorded it live in the studio which sounds fantastic What's funny is I started typing this while listening to this video and mentioned Johnny Blue Skies as your #2. There's a few on your honorable mentions I need to check it out. In no particular order here's my top 23 list of all the albums i enjoy from 24. Youll be befuddled to know that Lemon Twigs didnt make the cut. 😂. I have many friends that really flike that album. I just liked a couple of the songs but i dont view it as a masterpiece. OG snobbery … hmmmm. To me it is a case by case situation. Often times originals are too expensive (most Blue Notes for instance), but not always. I have all the Doors original pressings which I picked up over the last several months (mix of local record stores and Discogs) averaging $30-35, except for original LA Woman ($50). The LA Woman 45 has more detail, but the OG is great and cost less. OG all the way. Jimmy Smith’s “Root Down” just came out on an Acoustic Sounds reissue, but the OH is expensive and never clean. Reissue all the way. BTW Dee Snider rocks!

When I look at these box sets I try to figure out how much it is for an album. Sometimes they charge too much per album and I then walk away. I don’t mind reissues as I can’t afford a lot of the OGs anymore.

My philosophy on OG vs reissues is really simple - which one's cheaper? 😆I'm on a budget, man, I got kids to feed! Seriously though, the cost is often the biggest factor. I won't typically pick up a Billy Joel or Elton John re-issue if I know I can get an original (or at least an earlier re-issue) for half the price all day long. On the other hand, if it's a pricy or hard to find OG, heck yeah I'll go for the reissue. At the end of the day it's about the music for me. I collect to listen, not to sit on the shelf and look pretty. Thx for heads up on the Marty Robbins, I'm a huge fan but only have a couple of early greatest hits compilations on vinyl.

People are getting sick of record day 1 record day 2 record day 3 black friday record day....color variants....cover varients...etc etc. They are doing the same thing in the sports card hobby right now. If you enjoy em that fine but don't buy them for investing cause the bubble will burst. I just keep my buying to older stuff.

With respect, I don't see why people are clamouring so much to wait in line to buy brand new records. You're falling right into the hands of flippers. What if they had an rsd and nobody came? Little by little, records would come down in price, etc... If people refused to pay ridiculous prices the world would be a better place for collectors.
