after the great, perfect Aretha, this girl is the best in the world
I can't stand Hudsons voice, it is awful... How the directors could possibly think she (Or anybody else) can sound like a young or old Aretha is beyond comprehension. Aretha's voice should have been used in the film, how can you have a film on Aretha with an ugly voice that sounds nothing like her.
well aretha franklin chose jennifer to play her , so if you dont like it bite it . cant stand people like you who feel like your opinion overrides everything. if you think she has an ugly voice why dont you train her mr vocal coach . disgusting crap

Most of the biopics that I have loved were when talented actors/actresses knew how to lip sing so we'll, that they made it believable. Beyonce did the same thing with Etta James and did the role no justice. This movie will have a soundtrack and what better way to bring up Jennifer's sales, than to have her record it. J.Hud has never done well with her own personal albums. J.Hud can sang don't get me wrong, but she isn't considered a soulful, out of the box singer. She can take patriotic songs and sing under the table(national anthem, etc.) She struggles with soulful interpretation and head tones that should just come naturally. Imagine saying Kelly Price should play Patti LaBelle...both have vocal range, but different styles and delivery.

For all the Mrs. Doubtfires, Jennifer has been training and working hard to do justice to this role. I think she will earn herself another Oscar. Aretha left some big shoes to fill and the producers, Jennifer and her team are fully aware of what it takes to pull this off.

Not taking anything from Jennifer Hudson. She can hold her own, singing and acting, but, I believe a singer with a softer voice like Jill Scott or an actress like Amber Riley from Glee would’ve been perfect candidates to play Ms Aretha Louise Franklin

I think JHud is beautiful and has a powerful voice... it's just not the most pleasant all the time. Unfortunately, she just does not have that smooth, angelic tone Aretha had in her youth... that screaming is not going to get it. Which is why even Fantasia wouldn't be the best choice in my opinion.
I agree, Ms Franklin requested JH and they certainly must have bonded for her to make such a choice, but I wish Jazmine Sullivan would of had the chance, seeing her tribute and knowing her voice it would be a wonderful impersonation.

I think she got the voice to play Aretha but she sound to much like herself....in order to pull this off she got to want to be Aretha.....I will not take nothing from Jennifer but she got to do like Angela Bassett did with Tina Turner she own that part and play it well.....

Angela Bassett had an advantage playing Tina Turner because It was Tina Turner’s voice being used when Angela sang...Tina cooperated with the making of What’s Love Got to Do With It, but Jennifer will be out there on her own.

Jennifer Hudson is the only singer who could pull a biopic about Aretha Franklin off. She's the only person alive with enough soul and the vocal range... Plus she's a actress.. Aretha was a complex individual, a actress and not just a singer needs to be put into that role.

Aretha wanted JH to play her, and you dont have to sound like the singer to play the role. They both got heart and soul. She's perfect
