Super Takumar 50mm f1.4
มุมมอง 4682 ปีที่แล้ว
Reviewing the Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 manual focus lens from the 1960s. This lens is the predecessor to the Takumar Super-Multi Coated lens that I reviewed a few months ago. As promised, here's an update on the de-yellowing process. The Anycubic wash and cure station won't let you set it for more than one hour, so I had to keep restarting it, which I kept forgetting to do. In total it's only be...

Panasonic Microwave Review

Review of the Panasonic NN-SB658S Microwave In case it's not blindingly obvious by the upload date, this is an April Fool's video. Another point I forgot to make about this microwave is that the buttons labels are gray on a black background which is not very high-contrast and makes it hard to read.

This was an incredibly helpful video. Thanks for putting it together with all the comparison details for settings and conditions. I just ordered a used copy from Adorama and can't wait to try it out. I'm hoping to get a few senior photos of my daughter with this lens. I think it will be a cool effect to stand out from a traditional senior photo
Cool. I've been looking for information on the Kamero line. I have a 135 mm lens and it fits my Minolta SRT 202. Takes nice photos.
Thank you for this video 👍👍 That is the stupidest interface I've ever seen 🤦♂️
A-Sa-He not Aa-sha -High...
Is this one of the radiactive ones?
I believe it is.
The aperture problem may be the adapter. Some FD adapters lens has lock and open key which are usually use to make the aperture works. The lost metal ball of the clicking mechanism does not affect the aperture open and close function, at least not with the original Canon lenses. What usually happens is that not having the ball the aperture ring does not keep the position selected returning full back where the spring pull it. Take a look back if still have it. Make sure the adapter is correct positioned when installing the lens.
Does it fit on a sony a6000
I believe Sony a6000 is E-mount. You can get an adaptor for FD lens to E mount camera to make be able to use it.
@@davidwilliss5555 ok
Simple explanation thank you for the video I got this microwave tried to set the clock , thanks to you I finally did it couldn't return the microwave it was a gift ...
Nice review, hope you're enjoying your lens! I also have and love this lens -- and the filter threads are 49mm, btw. Also, unless I'm aiming to blur point light sources into some really nice bokeh balls, I also shoot at -- and tend to consider this -- more of an f/2 lens. My copy, at least, noticeably sharpens and deepens the contrast and colors when I shoot at f/2. Oh.. and one last thing if you haven't already heard.. these are slightly radioactive and others have recommended not holding the lens right up to your eye.
Great review 👍👍 i recently acquired Minolta md rokkor 50 1.7... thnx to your review i now decided to get this takumar 55 next ... Tho i have the sigma trio im loving the results im getting with my vintage lens as well
We just bought panasonic nn-sb65ns. We did not realize there were not numbers on it. I will probably take it back.
Thank you
Does star-D Goldline 28-200mm zoom 1:3.9-5.6 auto MC work on a D850 Nikon F mount. Believe I used it on a Petri 7s. Doe does not get recognized on D3200 Nikon. You appear to be the person with knowledge of Star-D lenses. Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.
These old lenses won't be recognized by any camera because they had no electronics in them to communicate to the camera and tell it what it is or what f-stop it's on or anything like that.
in short - who would need corner sharpenss at f/2.8?)
What is the Mount of the lens? I bought the lens and a pk adapter but they are not working together
The one I have is a PK mount, but it may have come in other flavors. The most common mounts I found on vintage lenses were PK, MD and M42.
can you use this lens on a minolta x700
I'm not familiar with that camera, but Google says it uses the Minolta SR mount. So if you get the version for Minolta SR it will fit on your camera as-is. You can also get another type of mount and buy an adaptor, which is what I did.
@@davidwilliss5555 tysm!
Yeah I think this is a moisture thing, I see another footage of it not looking as hazy, I got two copies coming, I wish I could just send you a copy
excelente video !!!
Thank you! This might be a great candidate for an anamorphic zoom taking lens!
Muy bien lente, yo lo tengo por fortuna
it’s asahi not ash-a-hi.
Yah, I corrected that in a later video on another Takumar lens.
'asa' means 'morning' and 'hi'(pronounced as hee) means 'sun' in Japanese.
I really like this review. So much so, that I subscribed within the first two minutes. Thanks, and keep them coming👏
A lens hood makes it even better.
Great! Can you show a pic to see the different mounts M42, PK, and so on. I have a vintage Takumar 1.4 50mm but no idea what the mount is to use it on my new(bee) Fuji XT-1. Besides plastic, are there differences in adapter quality / brands?
I believe all Takumar lenses use the M42 screw mount. It's easy to identify because it's threaded instead of having flanges like most other mounts. If it's not threaded, then it's probably a PK mount. As for adapter quality, as long as it's not plastic, they're pretty much all the same. There's no optics in them at all, just a tube with different mounting flanges on each end.
@@davidwilliss5555 Thanks so much for your speedy reply and helpful information for a newbee.
Hi David, Nice video about a great lens. It is 8 or so months post your video but just a personal experience about de-yellowing the lens: You can shine a CFL bulb through it at close range. It works equally well. I think bright light does the trick. I opened my lens to f1.4 and placed it on a small hand mirror and then shone a bright CFL bulb through it. It worked for me and took about a week to clear the yellow tint. Cheers!
Hey, thanks for the tip!
Just bought one of these in a second hand store. Equivalent of $14 in South African rands. Nice little lens. It’s probably not as good as my Pentax 135 one, but I like the feel of it. These scalloped focus rings are lovely to handle.
They also teamed up with the Miranda / Orion camera Co Japan from 1955, many early Miranda lenses are marked Miranda Soligor. By the way it's Pronounced SoligOR not Soligar. 👍
How do you silent this microwave? On the microwaves with actual numbers you can hold the 2 button but this Panasonic one seems impossible lol
You ever figured it out? I can’t seem too
Unplug, replug, press start twice and control beep setting with cooking timer setting
The clock set saved me a headache. Thank you.
Glad a joke video was actually useful
Good to know, great info! Thanks
Great video! Just found one of these at a thrift shop and was looking for a review
I totally agree it’s the stupidest set up on a microwave I’ve ever seen with no numerical keypad and you can’t add 30 seconds after you two minutes it’s horrible
I'm struggling with my helios and pentacon lenses focusing up close. They seem to stray out of focus and I have to be so still like a statute to get anything focused.
I will keep practising. I love the visual quality of the old lenses.
That can be a problem with any manual focus lens with the aperture wide open. The depth of field is very narrow. Using a tripod helps.
@@davidwilliss5555 Thanks.
@@davidwilliss5555 Hi I have tried my pentacon 1.8 which is more suited than my helios. It's faster and more successful with focusing so sticking with that for everyday duties until I purchase a faster lens soon. 1.4 maybe. The helios mind is fantastic in good light and objects that don't move for that magical look.
Hi David, Very interesting video, I'm trying to decide whether to buy this lens or the Sigma Z, also 28mm f/2.8... Which of the two do you think is the best option considering that I want to attach it to a set of Canon nFD lenses? Thanks a lot
I have no experience with the Sigma Z, so I couldn't tell you.
Very helpful 💯
Btw I really like the examples in your videos of photography concepts such as shallow depth of field or aperture priority mode in another. It's refreshing to see a photographer explain these concepts as some viewers might not know them since they might still be beginners or new to cameras, like my financeé. I really like your style of videos.
Thanks! I know those things are helpful to beginners. When I first started, I thought f2.8 was just good for taking pictures in low light situations with no flash. But you can learn how to do anything on TH-cam.
Thank you for this review! It was a really nice quick, but also very informative, review of the lens. I picked it up with a Nikon Em at a thrift store awhile back that I haven't been able to use yet. I just made the jump to mirrorless last week infact haha.
Good stuff..
My Auto Sears Red letter MC 50mm f1.7 beats my Canon Fd50 f2… SMC Pentax A 50mm 1.7... love the color... Have 3 in the series...killing the Sears collection out. Just Love their washy colors... Thanks for your content!
Looking at a $15 Star-D Gold 28mm 2.8 with macro....looking hard. For &15.... Hard not to just buy it.
Have one on the way shipped for $8. Seriously...$8. love vintage cheap glass....oem was often the same as lenses (much like guitar gear) for 10x because of branding and a cosmetics. Great review!
Thanks for the review sir love from Pakistan
How do you set cook times other than the preset ones.... for example 12 seconds? Everthing you said is true about this microwave so why are you saying it's for April fools? I emailed Panasonic trying to learn how to set cook times other than their preset ones but no response yet.
It's an April Fools because my channel is about reviewing vintage camera lenses, not microwaves. But this one annoys me so much I just had to do something so I did it as an April Fools video.
It wasn't me...lol
It totally was :)
Thanks for the video!
Very interesting and well researched.
