I just moved to France and this rig is the most common with this specification. The main line is 2.5 time the cane length. To not expose the braided line to the shock of the weight. The snoot length starts around 2ft upto 6ft. 3 snoots are very common. The first one at 4in from the weight. And 3ft between one and two, same between two and three. Main advantage you fishing different spices of fish. Flonder at the bottom with worm, and squid and fish bait on the other.

The Mortician rig seems a good idea however I would think the heavy main line would spook many fish, especially Pompano. Might be very useful for reds or blues or sharks. Seems everybody and their uncle is showing this online (TH-cam), calling it by different names. Hope the guy or gal that thought it up gets the credit. Thanks for sharing it. Great video!

we use those for Atlantic cod, for long lining. when you use different test line we use 100 pound mainline and 50 pound new lines 10 to 12 inches long until they came out with the clips.

Awesome!! You can get fresh clams from a seafood market and "some" bait shops. Atlantic Seafood on Monument Road and sometimes Genung’s Fish Camp in St. Augustine. Don't forget your Clam Fishbites. Tight Lines!!!

Just came across y’all’s videos. Thanks for sharing. Great ideas and tips for surf fishing. One comment I want to give when tying the knot for the drop loop, when you remove the loop from the nail, instead of placing it in your mouth, use one of the nails to creat the tension on the loop then pull on the line to create the knot. I can’t take credit for this, I saw the sinker guy do this in one of his vids. Keep up the good work!

I’m interested in the specs on your rig board. I don’t have access to tools etc n wonder if you might build me one? Of course payment would be made. I don’t see anyone selling rig boards might be an opportunity here

The reason for using fluorocarbon for the main leader line is it does not absorb water and degrade. Thus it can be used for at least one season if not two as on a mortician it's only holding the weight as the bite leaders are separate. Fluoro does not degrade with storage or time I water or uv rays or heat. There are tons of reasons why fluoro is superior in all situations u less you want the line to float. Tge only reason to use mono otherwise is its cheap but you really should throw away any mono a yr or more old so how much is wasted. Also it should not be used in water for more than a day.vxo so many reasons for high quality fluoro.

Nope it's a snood as in turkey snood. It's the piece of skin that dangles and hangs off a gobblers nose like the hook leader.

  • @n6yun

The problem with using the double overhand loop knot on the leader is that in warm water monofilament becomes pliable and could back off of itself and if a big fish takes your hook it can break your line through friction
