Hilary Hahn
Hilary Hann ❤
this is no comparison... hahn is the only one that is able to meld it all properly.
According to me (but certainly not only me), the *greatest* rendition of this concerto was by Ginette Neveu in 1948 with Isserstedt as conductor. So, a comparison without including that (even if there is no visual material to show), is imho not at all complete.
Concerto pour violon de Brahms : Violon : Yehudi Menuhin Direction : Kurt Masur Leipzig 1982
Voici mon classement : 1er : Menuhin 2ème Perlman 3ème : Hahn 4ème : Kavados 5ème : Fischer 6ème : David Oistrakh L'entrée de Menuhin est exceptionnelle ! Le concerto est à écouter en entier ! C'est une interprétation de référence ! Musicalité, sensibilité et technique hors du commun ! Merci monsieur Menuhin !
Nathan Milstein 😮😮😮. Although it is admire Menuhin playing Brahms at that age, the example doesn’t do him justice
Maxim Vengerov. Technical precision meets incredible musical feel. Hillary Hahn has amazing technique , but always has sounded a touch thin to me.
Just the recording quality but hilary crushed that holy shit
Having listened to all of these on high quality headphones, Hahn's performance is clearly the best, which is especially incredible seeing as the video used for comparison isn't even the best available. The others all have their own issues, whether it be shrieking, twangy or crunchy playing at points, or just having inconsistent rhythm, they're comparatively unpleasant to listen to. Played well, the piece isn't supposed to sound hard and I feel like Hahn is the only one that accomplishes this.
For me Nathan Milstein is always going to be the most perfect violinist overall. However, the winner for Brahm's Entrace goes to Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg. 2nd- Bomsori Kim & Maxim Vengerov 2:52 Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg th-cam.com/video/giIBatKa5r4/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1 2:38 Tianwa Yang th-cam.com/video/UrkaMesJ7R0/w-d-xo.html 3:24 Kyung Wha Chung th-cam.com/video/oelcmJ13HDU/w-d-xo.html 3:17 Nigel Kennedy th-cam.com/video/Q_iRiq0bzoY/w-d-xo.html 2:58 Rachel Barton Pine th-cam.com/video/Q_iRiq0bzoY/w-d-xo.html
benny's signature is brahms. can immediately tell him from everyone else
Hadelich..Vengerov
Tretyakov?
By the way, Josef Gingold isn't there.
All of them are incredible, but I can't feel what I felt when I was able to play it.
What's with Garrett sitting at a stool like he's a cool dude at a bar having a drink?
Janine, maxim and Milstein have a a incredibly naturalness when they are playing. I love it! My favorites!!
The ultimate horror of this opening is seen clearly in Heifetz' version. It 's like someone is hesitant to jump into the darkness and finally when he has no choice he just let it go.
Leong, Barati and Feng
+Hahn
Fischer - definitely
Hahn, Fischer, Kim and perhaps Vengerov are my choice
These are all at an extremely high level. Artistically I gravitate toward Hahn 2021. But I have to agree with some others here - Milstein just stands out. That drive! That huge line! It's almost a different dimension of playing, at least in this short selection.
Vengerov all the way, you can here the tension being built.
David oistrack got the best in my opinion😭
No Ivry Gitlis? No Zino Francescatti? Why?
Look at henryk szeryngs performance, I think it’s one of the best
Fantastic Video! So lovely to hear the greatest violinists! I would also add one more - Henryk Szeryng. In my opinion, master of Brahms
Where is Henryk Szeryng ?
I think that you have to consider how well the soloist’s interpretation flows with the orchestra, if they go smooth and the soloist is too energetic or passionate the result wouldn’t be good, so we should be judging the complete output
Спасибо за интересное сравнение. На мой взгляд Натан Мильштейн интеллектуально всех переиграл (как всегда). Thank you for the interesting comparison. To my mind, Natan Milshtein overplayed intellectually everybody ( as always)
I really love Hahn's (2021) interpretation. I personally prefer it from the others, though all amazing! Her performance from 2023 gets even better.
Janine Jansen my fav
Menhuin for me, followed by Milstein and Oistrakh
Kristof Barati 🔝🔝🔝
Heifetz toujours inégalé. L’humble et glorieux respect de la partition. Brahms revit.
Why bo tetzlaff?? His opening is the best!
Vengerov is so good he can play without moving ❤️❤️❤️
Hilary Hahn's 2014 interpretation is definitely my favorite🔥
Zaten iclerinde en iyi kemancı sergey haçaturyan en güçlü çarpıcı girişte ona ait
All are virtuoso violinists playing at the highest level humanly possible. I like the style and sound of Bomsori's violin, this rendition is from 2017 I believe.
Is this a top ? 😂 where is Gil Shaham , or Pinchas Zukerman
Oistrakh is the Best!
Uto Ughi?
Yeah, sorry, not sorry: you literally need testicles to play that first movement effectively. Period. Same for Sibelius.
i can't tell whether this is misogyny, or just really bad wording
Most unique and my personal favorite was Milstein.
There is just one problem here: the version with Oistrakh is absolutely NOT his best version. Not at all actually. The best Oistrakh version is the one with Klemperer and the "Orchestre National de la Radiodiffusion Française". And if you put this version in this comparison, well... It is simply the best in my opinion. The most energetic without loosing any precision. th-cam.com/video/KkfgFuCUe8w/w-d-xo.html
david garrett, Julia Fischer
And another one for me should be my dear teacher Boris Belkin
For my the best introduction and maybe in all Brahms concert is Victor Tretiakov,he doesn't appear in this video, but,he has a tremendous recording
Leonid Kogan's Brahms cocerto is not in this list! I do know more Sibelius playing! The best Sibelius concerto players are Really=Guila Bustabo( The Queen Tiger) Viktor Tretjakov( The King!) Gidon Kremer( live hurricane version not his recordigs! Myrian Fried! I have to listen Trejakov's Brahms more often!
