Its more a list on which sets have over inflated pack prices than the "best" sets at least from my understanding, which is hard to use since they are all super inflated by pack openers on youtube which will overspend to create low effort content. Still a neat Idea and good to see my tier list in a youtube video lol

It's still sad that 3 years later, this is still relevant. I remember when this wasn't really talked about. I was looking for the recent set (forgot what it was at the time) and saw zero cards. I told everyone about it online and others said must have stopped selling them and no one knew why. Turns out it was scalpers. I also had the issue animal crossing as well with the sanrio collab. Also I'm kinda like a collector/ investor. But I'm using those rare cards to get a card i do like.

people like this are pieces of shit..same with those just into the hobby for the money and no other reason..i been collecting pokemon stuff since high school (1998) and im on a budget because im on disability...alot of things i want..icant even afford due to idiot selfish jackasses like this...the eevee set..crown zenith and a couple other sets i have very few cards from because i couldnt find at any any store!!!! even now its a huge struggle where i live ...ordering online has become my thing and i hate it..i miss being able to get my things in person..it sucks that people like me who love pokemon because of the art..animation..storyllines etc are a rare breed...i dont care how much my collection costs....i collect the cards i love..i know i have a valuable collection...even my figures and plushies..but i could not care less...if i saw a card i absolutely loved and the person wanted an expensive card of mine..and the card i wanted costed less...id do the trade because i think everyone who truly loves pokemon shoud have access to the cards and items they love no matter how much they are supposidly worth! its even harder for younger collectors now...and whats sad is due to social media...children are obsessing over how much things are worth....its not right...all of this is ruining the fandom..people..please stop being selfish and money obsessed...leave products for other people who truly love pokemon..stop buying everything like these twatwaffles do...share...if you see someone that is having trouble getting their dream item and you are able to help without it hurting you...then help...i help other true collectors all the time..this is suchan amazing hobby and lifestyle..and it has been since i was 16...i am going to be 42 this september....being autistic does help me as i still have the joys of a child when i get something i have been hunting for..and i still use my imagination...i will keep helping those that are true fans even though i dont have alot of money...i just want to do what i can to keep this amazing franchise and hobby alive :)

Important Info: 1. Scarlet and Violet sets were not because brand new sets tend to have inflated value when first released and I felt that the end of swsh was a good stopping point as well. 2. Grading definitely plays a role the value of some sets as well, especially vintage sets. Definitely possible to incorporate grading into the calculations, but would require a ton of time and effort. Basically just imagine that older sets get a boost from grading while modern most of the time does not, besides various chase cards. 3. Pop series and prize packs were not included because I could not find concrete pull rates for those sets. 4. Forgot to mention this in the video but no 1st edition sets were included. The expected values for these sets would probably be on par with the unlimited versions of each set. For example if 1st edition jungle is 2x the price of a normal jungle pack, the card values would likely also be 2x. This means the conversion factor would reduce the EV down to what the unlimited version is. (Not sure if jungle 1st edition packs are 2x the value, I was just making up numbers for an example.) 5. Sets where pack values are under $4 such as Fusion strike used a conversion factor of 1. There is no sense in scaling up the prices of sets like this because it would inflate the values and I wanted to treat the calculations as if you walked into a store and buy any pack for $4, but with the card values inside adjusted. I was super into Pokémon about 12-13 years ago and bought cards as recently as 3 or so years ago. I still have my entire collection and a lot of cards that came out in my era. I remember when Lv. X cards first came out. I personally thought the OG ex predecessors were the best and still are. Too many “secret rare, full art, variant” mumbo jumbo these days imo.

I have the Torerra. I just found out how much this stuff was worth. I had all of these. I had the charizard and rayquaza 2009 packs…I threw them all away when I was 16…

Excellent video! Couldn't agree more. I just recently got back into collecting and didnt take long for me to realize the huge problem at hand. I have the hardest time getting product but continue to watch these youtubers rip through pack after pack as they say, "Pokemon is trying to keep up......" yea, right. Alot of times opening product weeks before the public can even acquire them. Dont they realize that the new generation is going to be turned off very quickly and the love for Pokemon that alot of us developed in the 90's wont happen for them. Once that doesnt happen, who are you going to sell you "new" 20 year old cards to down the road????
