From Dream to V12 Superquad | Engler Automotive
In this episode of the Car Chat podcast, host Sam Moores welcomes Viktor Engler, the founder and CEO of Engler Automotive. Viktor discusses his journey from a childhood in Slovakia, where his passion for cars was ignited by a book about Ferruccio Lamborghini, to becoming the creator of the unique “Superquad” vehicles. These vehicles, which defy traditional automotive categories, combine elements of both cars and motorbikes, featuring an Audi R8 engine and custom-built components. Viktor shares stories of overcoming financial challenges, securing investor support, and the engineering feats required to bring his vision to life. He also talks about the introduction of the new V12 superquad, a limited-edition vehicle boasting 1200 horsepower, 1200 kilograms of weight, and 1200 newton meters of torque, priced at 1.2 million euros. This episode provides a deep dive into the world of innovative vehicle design and the persistence required to bring such groundbreaking concepts to market.

    Hmmmm....I do wonder if Radford is a bit a marketing & self-publicity exercise only...? 🤔 They appear to have no bona fide production or assembly facility, no on-the-books coachbuilding staff or technicians, & most importantly no customers showing off their new 62-2 yet... Perhaps the plan was they wanted Lotus Cars to buy the tooling & manufacture the cars from Hethel as part of their new heritage division...? Something just seems a bit off with it all, lots & lots of talk with those important buzzwords, but not much else so far.

    WOW, their carbon wheels are CHEAP! (if you compare them to Koenigseggs hollow carbon wheels that is😁)

  • @MikkelL03
    @MikkelL03 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Carbon wheels isn't banned because they were too good. The wheel ia banned because of a safety concern. Yea carbon is very strong for its weight, but it can dent or anything. If a force hits it hard enough the wheel will shatter and therefore crate a MASSIVE safety risk. Different metals and alloys have the ability to bend, dent and buckle if a force hard enough hits it which is way safer. A dented wheel can many times still hold pressure perfectly fine and if it doesn't pressure will slowly decrease. If a big enough force hits a carbon wheel it will shatter and get completely destroyed which leaves you at 3 wheels in a car or 1 wheel on a bike, this is a very big safety concern because these scenarios will typically result in a uncontrollable crash. This is why carbon wheels is banned and why this video is absolutely bullshit. And yes hypercars use carbon wheels, but hypercars isn't built to the standards of a homologated racecar or racebike. Irritating to find misinformation on youtube that you absolutely have yo correct. Thanks for making such a stupid video with great misinformation.

      Simply not the case. The late great Roberto Marchesini loved our wheels and wanted them to be sold as Marchesini wheels when I met him in 1997. They were full road tested and more durable than any aluminium wheel. He admitted to me over dinner not long before he passed away that he got them banned by the FIM when he found out that Carl Fogerty was about to test them at Philip Island at the end of the 1996 World Superbike season! He said it would have been different if I had agreed to co-brand them Marchesini, which I kinda wish I had agreed to with the benefit of hindsight! Chris S

    The problem with carbon wheels is that the moment you knick them they need to be replaced. Journalists have talked about how companies like Ford are constantly getting warranty claims on their carbon wheels bc of how easy them break. It makes more sense for motorcycles since they’re lightweight and have more axis they require operate on but I can see how car makers would just want to move back to metal-based wheels.

    Interesting comments as always from Mr H. The 6 hour race is quite a challenge: mixed conditions (rain/dark...) 90 or so cars with a power to weight ratio varying from 150 bhp to 550 bhp per ton... It is easier to overtake in a GT40 than a Porsche 356! As we have also seen some appalling driving by GT40's in the event (Billionnaire owners). For these guys, GT40s are "remanufactured" and relatively "cheap" to replace. The answer for safer, closer racing at Spa 6H is to limit all competitors to a maximum starting fuel load of 100 litres and refills to 80 litres. This would put an end to so much of the fuel being spilt onto the track in the first 30 minutes. Mr H senior would then win in his Elan...

    My friend insisted i buy 1988 Jeep Cherokee Wagoneer for a bit of off roading fun. It was completely restored with a 2" lift. It was the worst vehicle i have ever driven lol. I sold it 1 month after buying it because i decided i never wanted to drive it again. Restomodding a 911 must be hard because you have to decide what aspects to leave and what to add. With the old jeeps you could replace everything beside the body and I suspect people would be happy.

      Haha, we discuss this very topic in the full podcast. Not many people ACTUALLY want to drive an old truck. I think you hit the nail on the head. You always have to decide where in the timeline you want to pick. The high profile ones these days seem to pick SC/964 etc and then just add all the carbon and all the technology available to create something kinda modern. I suspect that’s probably why 964 is one of the more popular. Looks old but drives quite modern and AC etc etc
