Bro, you had a full sanding disk in there... tough to blame that one on the wife and kid. LOL
Ha! Nice try blaming the wife and kids. Seriously, glad the video helped.
Thank you. I fixed my issue, thanks to this video. All the way in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
So happy to help!
This is a life saver. Thanks for posting such a detailed and simple video. I haven't cleaned this out in almost 8 years and I pulled out a bra pad, a sock and face mask.
@@thomaschan9148 Sweet! Glad to help!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to show us how to find the filter on this stupid washer lol You did what Google couldn't so you sir are our hero🦸🏽♀️ as my hubby is a car mechanic not a washer mechanic lol You have a new subscriber here!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@@jenowl2469 Glad to help!
Ty! Saved me $125 by following this guide versus calling a service tech. Worked perfectly, except mine had 4 plastic clips that also needdd to be removed to remove the back panel
Happy to help!! Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I hope every task you do works seamlessly in perpetuity and you never lose your footing on ice. You are a kind and generous human for sharing with us 🥰
@@AlyAbabua thank you for the kind words.
Thanks! Solved my issue in about 30 min.
Thanks man. It worked for me. In my case there was a foamy bra cup stuck in the filter from the previous owner. If she had big ones, there would be no need for fake foamy fillers and ultimately no filter issues. Big ones all the way.
So very helpful and informative! Thank you
You are welcome.
Your tutorial is incredible! It resolved my issue. Disturbing to see two pairs of women’s thong undies and a sock. Wow! Thank you so much!!!!
Happy to reunite undies and an orphan sock. 😂
@@marttho53It’s the little things…. 😜😂
These washers are junk. Mine has been nothing but a problem since I bought it 5 years ago. Never really worked.
Grooooss. Thanks. You just saved me the cost of a new washing machine. Good on you, mate.
Glad to help. Visited your channel. Love the squirrel mama and kitten video!
@@marttho53 It worked! I pulled a baby sock, clumps of material, two nails and $1.37 in change out of the filter.
Thank you so much for this. I feel like a real man! FYI. For those having trouble loosening the filter, take the rubber handles of pliers between and use it to twist it. After turning about a quarter you can use your hands
Glad the video helped and thanks for the advice!
Thanks for this. 5 years later and had to do this today lol
@@xavariel You are welcome!
BTW, is there like cover that needs to be put on the filter before inserting back in place ? Thank you
Glad the video helped. No cover on the filter!
Thank you Sir, I have the exact same models and the same error codes, I will now fix it .. Great stuff!!
Wt
This was very very helpful and perfectly explained how to fix the problem! Seems like bra pad inserts and dog hair are bad for the filter :)
Funny how often bra pad inserts make it to the filter. 😂 Glad the video helped!!
Our washer is in the garage, and looks aren't important. We cut a hole in the front panel to access the filter easier for regular cleaning. We have a dog rescue, that poor washer gets tons of loads of towels and blankets that have hair, kibble, and everything else imaginable. I clean the filter every month, and we still occasionally have it clog up in between. Sometimes the door lock will jam and unplugging won't always reset it. When that happens, i go in from the top and reach down to find the white loop, pull it, and open the door while it is pulled. Most machines have the loop on top, but for some reason, mine is underneath, but can still be activated from the top. We also have a lot of problems with the door boot slipping off the inner ridge when there is an unbalanced or very heavy load. Our machine is a royal pain to reinstall the boot and that stupid spring!!! Would love to get a Speed Queen commercial front loader, but have never found one for sale used and the new ones are way out of our budget. Thank you for your great video!❤❤
You are welcome! And thank you for giving everyone a peek into your situation. You have found fixes and workarounds that will definitely help others who read our posts.
Thank you! You saved us! Mine was clogged - and I found a big old black widow.
@@TheEmilylou21 Happy for you! And a double win getting rid of the spider! 🕷️
Great video. Thank you for the work!
Glad to help.
Thank you so much!! We had this exact issue tonight, and it was an easy fix thanks to your video!
I checked the drain filter and drain hose, and everything was clean. I'm still getting the error message occasionally. Maybe the motherboard is going bad or the drain pump on my unit.
Others have had the same issue. Before I offer a few suggestions, here's a summary of what is happening: The Whirlpool washer F9E1 error code is a long drain error, meaning its taking too long for the washer to drain the water. If after 6 minutes of trying to drain the water out of the machine the water level pressure switch does not reset, the ACU ( main control board ) will shut the cycle off and show the F9E1 error on the user interface display. Under normal circumstances the washer should completely drain within 2 minutes. My thoughts: I don't think the motherboard is the issue, otherwise you would not be getting the error message. I'm curious why you see the error code occasionally. I would clean the boot seal, clean the pump again, and look for any obstruction between the washer and the discharge hose. If you get the error code again, perhaps the pump is weak or the water level pressure switch is faulty.
@@marttho53 Thank you very much!
@@marttho53 I changed the drain pump out and it solved the problem. I have washed about 15 loads since the change. About $70 with tax and shipping. Only took a few minutes to install. If it errors out again I will try the water level switch. Thank you for your help.
@@scottwitt8732 Thanks for posting your fix. It will go a long way encouraging others with a similar issue.
Thank you! We have had ours for 9 years and never cleaned that filter! I found 15 coins and some hair pony tail bands. After cleaning it out and assembling it back together it had no error and worked great. I will be checking that filter more often!
Congratulations!
Thanks for the video. Ours was an easy fix. We started having standing water in our boot that got smelly. We have a shop vac and I used it to remove the water and to suction the drainage holes in the bottom of the boot. They probably had gunk in them collect over time. My wife used a QTip to further clean the drainage holes. I poured a kettle of hot water in it, and everything seems to be draining again. BTW, we had already cleaned the trap/filter, but remember to do that if you're trying to give everything a good clean. Best wishes.
Great tips for a thorough cleaning. Thank you!!
Exactly what our issue was! Fixed! A big Thank You!
Glad to help.

I had a customer that literally cut a hole in the bottom front panel and fabricated as hinged door
I’ve heard about that from others.
Extremely helpful video. Easy instructions paired with well-lit video. Well done.
Thanks for the kind words. Glad it helped.
Thank you, very helpful video!
Can’t thank you enough for posting this video. My husband and I are not the best at DIY repairs but this one was easy thanks to you!
Glad to help.
Was a lot harder getting the washer away from the wall and getting the back panel off. I drained some of the water and then decided to try and let the washer drain itself after ten bowls of water (had started a load). Seems to be spinning and draining just fine. I’ll check the filter after it stops and see what’s going on. Not sure why it’s working just fine now but wasn’t a few minutes ago? Messed up my whole wash cycle.
Thank you thank you! I called a repair man in January, four months ago, and it was $160 house call to clean the drain. He didn’t find much, but I was happy to have a working washing machine again. This morning I started a small load and am getting this error again! Instead of paying another $160 I am going to check it myself. I’m a single mom and don’t bring home that much. I also have a dryer belt going out and he said it would be $250+tax. I found a maintenance kit for $25 on Amazon and am going to change out the belt and rollers myself. My blower motor went out on my Toyota sienna and I’ve only had it for 3 months (it’s used) and a friend showed me how to change it out. Saved me hundreds of dollars!! I’m so thankful for videos like this and I am subscribing!! ❤
TH-cam for the win, nice work!
Can it be removed?
Yes it can. The following TH-cam video from RepairClinic gives you the basic idea how to remove the boot seal. Your model may be slightly different. Hope this helps. th-cam.com/video/A35w1S9TvTI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for posting this - was thinking i would need to call a technician but decided to google it first and so glad i found you - i was able to handle this easily myself and get the washer working like a charm again! Appreciate it!
You are welcome!
You should enable the super thanks where people can send you money. I’d love to send a few dollars your way for all the money you just saved me!
Thank you so much! You saved us the money of having to call the repair company!
If this doesn’t do the trick double check your external and internal hose there could be a build up in them as well. This is routine maintenance for me at the facility I work at.
I'm having this error now, cleared the filter, took the pump apart, motor tests good.Blow the discharge line out next?
Hmm. Not sure. Since you still get the error I assume the water level pressure switch and the ACU ( main control board ) are functioning. That's why you see the error. After 6 minutes of trying to drain the water out they will shut the cycle off and show the F9E1 error on the user interface display. Under normal circumstances the washer should completely drain within 2 minutes. Have you checked for an obstruction between the tub and pump? Or plugged drain holes around the door seal - looking for anything that would not allow the tub to drain within the 6 minute window?
thank you, sir! you have done a great service to all whirlpool owners
Welcome!
My is F5, F3 error is a locked door mechanism not working. This happen at beginning and can’t open door, it keeps kicking.
Hello @momepenni. First, just a reminder to all who read this reply. I am not a Whirlpool repair guy or engineer. I'm just a DIYer that is tenacious (my wife calls it bullheaded). This assumes a front load washer: 1) try turning off the power at the breaker or unplugging the machine for 1 minute. Plug it back in and see if you can open the door. If that doesn't work: 2) press the “Control Lock” button for three seconds. After three seconds, you should be able to open the door. If the door still doesn't open, press the “End of Cycle” button (if your washing machine has one) for five seconds. If you are able to open the door and the error code returns, you may have a damaged latch. Or in my case, I had a bad hinge. Good luck! (BTW, what do you mean "it keeps kicking"? Ticking?
One more thought. If this is a top loader, here's a video that might help: th-cam.com/video/pnplUXb-P-Y/w-d-xo.html
As others have mentioned, being an engineer and not providing a service door is astonishing. I have one of their refrigerators that they want you to buy a 1500$ door to replace a broken wire harness. Going with LG next. Great vid
Had the same error code but was surprised my filter was clean and did some further checking. Found that the drain hose was clogged. This was located where the plastic holding bracket that bends the hose towards the tub. I had removed the bracket and tried to straighten the hose and was amazed that it broke off some large chunks of liquid detergent buildup inside the hose. I bought a new hose and re-routed the hose without using the same holding bracket. When I connected the hose to the washer I made sure the hose was straight with a slight angle downwards toward the drain tub. The end of the hose was bent 45 to 90 deg angle downward along with zip ties to keep everything in place. This will prevent any future clogs/buildup of detergent water just sitting in the hose. Working perfect.
Your experience is a great example of why the F9 E1 error code shows up. The error code is a long drain error, meaning it's taking too long for the washer to drain the water. If after 6 minutes of trying to drain the water out of the machine the water level pressure switch does not reset, the ACU ( main control board ) will shut the cycle off and show the F9 E1 error on the user interface display. Under normal circumstances the washer should completely drain within 2 minutes. Thank you for posting your experience. It will help others who might discover the filter is not dirty, but something else was delaying the tub from draining.
@@marttho53 Question I have for you is.. Do you know how to set the water level? Pressure switch has no screw driver turn settings. If you know how, please inform
