WOW finally someone who can appreciate how nice it is to listen to trance whilst racing. Thanks for the vid :)

yea i love the psvr2 for pc better then my quest3 or pimax crystal..(orginal)
You tried a Crystal light yet?
Is it on par in terms of clarity with the Crystal? I am hoping it is nearly there if you crank up the steam super sampling
No. It's not close to the sharpness of a Crystal or Aero. The resolution feels similar to a Quest Pro. But the headset has a nice 3D feel to it. I think the OLED contrast and the headset brightness just makes VR feel more real vs other LCD headsets
@@wickfut-racing no i had the orginal crystal
@@wickfut-racing thats what i find also.. the psvr2 is not that sharp and you have mura..But the 3d and colors and blacks sucks you more into the game...With the quest 3 and crystal i had something looking at a flatscreen if you you know what i mean..

Wow, is that one of those Race@home motion platforms?
Yes. It does seem to be one of those excellent Race@home motion platforms.
What this doent show are the God rays all over the crap Fresnel lenses. Deluding yourself is one thing deluding the res t of us is something different.
I don't recall the god rays being bad on the G2 v2. I do on the Samsung Odyssey and HTC Vive though. I have owned 3x headsets with Pancake lenses though and sold them all within 6 months.
@@wickfut-racing The Q3 with Virtual Desktop is a fantastic VR experience. VDXR is a magic implementation of OpenXR, lol. Better than I thought possible with basically the same res as the G2. Not perfect but closer than I thought before I tried it. When I think of how many hours I had to struggle with G2 in DCS/MSFS20/ACC/ATS and with the Q3 it was much easier to get much better results with the same computer.

A great video. It looks so sharpen and realistic. Are you using Opencomposite switcher and OpenXR with your Varjo Aero headset? I can't seem to get mine to work and I get errors. So I'm running in SteamVR at around 60fps with a RTX3080 12gb video card.
I don't use OpenXR / composite / toolkit with the Aero. I tried it a couple of times but I felt it made the image have less 3D depth to it. There's a file which needs to be replaced in order for it to work on the Varjo, but I was given it on the Official Varjo discord and didn't save it.
@@wickfut-racing Ok Thanks for your feedback. What sort FPS are getting? I'm around 60FPS with SteamVR.
@@waltercardillo2273 I have it locked to 90fps in day time, night time and rain causes dips to around 80fps depending on how many cars are on screen. I just lowered the game settings until it runs right. I'm running SteamVR at 100% resolution scale. Mostly medium settings in the game, MSAA set to low, max 15 cars.
Have the same setup and im still blown away. Made me think if becoming a content creator as well
yeah it's great isn't it, looking forward to seeing how it runs with a 5090. Just scored a 4k 60hz video capture card for my old PC to take the recording stress off the main. Not sure what to do with it yet though.
Uffff se ve brutal!!!! Gracias a que pusiste la configuración en los comentarios e podido aplicarla para mi 4060 ti, y la verdad que se ve increíble gracias!!!🤟🏻
Compared to how it looks on the screen, how does it look in the vr?
In VR in a Reverb it looks a little worse due to the panel resolution. In headsets like a Varjo Aero and Pimax Crystal it looks a little sharper. Have you tried VR?
Bonjour, est ce que la qualité est identique dans le casque avec celle de la vidéo
yes, but it's still not perfect.

Was looking for a video of the aero and this game finally going to get around to buy a sim, what wheel do you use?
Logitech G Pro wheel/pedals with Simagic DS8X shifter. If you do go VR sim racing, get some sort of shakers or haptics, NLR HF8 once set up is amazing for placing you in the car as you drive.
How do you like the varjo fov after having used a pimax?
Doesn't bother me at all. Aero is wider while the Crystal is deeper. Crystal is similar to a Pico 4, Aero is similar to a Reverb.
Did you try to play via USB-C cable? I'm wondering what latency and picture quality you will get compared to Virtual Desktop. Btw, currently I'm using Pico Neo 3 Link because of the Display Port connection, but ideally I would like to have a VR Headset with Pancake Lenses and considering to buy Pico 4 but I'm not sure if USB-C will be suitable for smooth game play on my RTX 4070Ti but also I don't want to play via Virtual Desktop because of the poor latency.
USB wired on a Pico isn't like Display Port wired. It still runs through the encoder/decoder and adds the latency. All it saves is the time it takes to run through the network, which you can see is around 7ms on the video. VD vs Streaming Ass. VD wins , it encodes at a higher resolution and bitrate. Wireless every time. Pico pancake lenses are bad, they blur quite a lot around the edges and bloom on bright objects. They're like a cheap plastic toy lens which makes everything fuzzy. For use in sim racing I have nothing nice to say about the Pico to be honest, same as the Quests, I think they're junk. I can't even sell it. Nobody wants it.
Thanks @@wickfut-racing
I also thought about getting the Pimax, but I don't want all the problems. I used to have a Pimax 8KX, and after wearing it I always looked cross-legged, it was terrible. I sold it again. I still have the G2, I'm going to get the Somnium VR1. Since you say the Varjo is good, that would also be an interim solution! By the way, cool music!
Yeah that cross-eyed thing with the Pimax is something I couldn't get used to. It also went worse if I set different resolutions other than 100% scaling. I keep getting tempted to try another to make sure it wasn't just bad lenses each time they put the discount codes up on Amazon, I think the last one was saving near £500 less what I paid. Which is great if the lenses are suited to you. I have my name down for a Somnium but don't think I'll try it. Looking at the specs it's the same weight as the Crystal, only it'll be even worse balanced as it won't have a Crystal battery at the rear. And Varjo Aero has been discontinued and not for sale any longer. So.. EOL , little to no resale value if you get one.
I'm not surprised an RTX 4090 is not enough for this resolution. Having seen how much better experience I have with less taxing VR titles at 120 fps on the Valve Index, it's clear we'll have to wait for at least a couple more generations of GPUs before we can enjoy high frame rate, high resolution, fast paced sims like this.
yeah , I'm hoping the 5090 is another large step in GPU performance over the 4090. Looking forward to it
Hi, got the game today and it doesn't see my Pico 4 controllers. How can I get it to work, do you know?
because you need an xbox controller or a wheel, not motion controls.
Thanks!@@wickfut-racing
great video! thats one banger track, and the music is good too, lol.l
love the nurnburing, pretty fun in beamng vr
Do you find it better to record the actual game source or the steam vr render window?
I didn't try the SteamVR render window. That was the Geforce Experience recorder. just checked your channel, You reminded me I need to play GT7 again.
Why the latency is so low with G2 😮 which compared to the pico4
When you have a Displayport headset then it only needs to generate the frame. When you have a wireless headset like a Pico or Quest you have to generate the frame, compress it to a smaller lower quality image, send it down a USB cable or over a wifi signal to the headset where the headset then has to decode it and turn it back into an image. This is why I won't go near wireless headsets.
I wanna buy a Aero now...Thanks haha - btw what track is this in the bg? Sounds like old Photek
It's well worth getting. It's the best headset I've tried so far (I've owned 10x headsets). I'm actually quite happy with it. A little underwhelmed on the first day but then you realise how great it is once you get used to it. Only things I'd like to see improved are the black levels and FOV. It should get even better once the 5090 releases and I can start running games using the 39PPD setting. The music, I wrote it. I've done the music for the last 3 vids. There's a link which pops up in a box during the last 10 seconds of the video. Thanks
Looks really clear. What track is this?
old Speilberg / Red Bull Ring
HP reverb sucks
Do you feel better now?
@@wickfut-racing 🤣🤣
The steamVR resolution is 1.4X than the VR single Lense resolution?
It depends on your GPU. But usually, Yes.
One of the biggest things that you get from VR that triples and singles cant convey is ELEVATION. depth and off camber changes. Once I started playing racers like DR2 in VR I never realized how certain points on the course were either deep down slopes are vice versa. It really helps coming into a turn going down hill...with the height perception you will know that your car momentum is going to be heavier (harder to slow down) going to down hill versus uphill.
Vr is the way to go for simracing. Love it big time.
Awesome music!
th-cam.com/video/ZlOOdZzBkV4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q4ApE4boShed7Spg thanks
Heyyy I really like your video! I want to know what do you think of Pimax Crystal, is it worth of buying one (since I am also interested in it lol)? And another question, that when you consider buying a VR headset, what are the top 3 factors you care most?
It's a nice step up from the Reverb. But the lenses are a pain. They give me more eye strain than I get with other headsets. It doesn't feel completely natural , like I'm wearing incorrect prescription glasses. It's not game breaking. But it's something which annoys me. Resolution is amazing. Headset is a bulky heavy horrible design. Audio is terrible. Tracking is good. Buy it if you just want the resolution and that's all that counts. If you want a general headset to play beatsabre with then run away
@@wickfut-racing Thank you for the information!

@@ronaldkasteel3459 No mine doesn't get hot, my Reverb never got hot either? It gets foggy lenses when I first put it on for a couple of minutes though. Yeah I'm looking at a Beyond also. Not sure about the 75hz to run 2560x2560 resolution though. I tried the Crystal at 72hz and I guess I could get used to it at a push and it was nice to increase all the graphic settings a bit more but I went back to 90hz as it just felt much better.
how does it play at night in the rain? smooth 90 with high graphics settings?
Just lower MSAA if it dips during night time. I can't really test now as I've changed wheels and PC2 isn't compatible with the new one. I'm 100% AMS2 now. Also I now have a Crystal and not a Reverb, so can't check either.
Can you provide system info (CPU)? Any updates on what your recommended graphics settings? thx!
CPU is a 13900KF. 128GB memory. I don't use these settings any more. I run 100% scaling in OpenXR now. So around 4300x5100 or something. OpenXR I have FFR set to 85%. I my game settings as: MSAA set to low. Textures high, and other things set to low/medium. Hit 90fps in the day time. Some judders with lots of cars so I started having little races with 10x cars. What reshade? Base game doesn’t have this color
No reshade. I can't remember what I did off the top of my head. OpenXR lowered contrast, increased in-game brightness to 2.0 then ran the race at 4pm in January. If I added some post processing it may have been a LUT running 20% power in clipchamp just to bring out the shadow details and some more saturation to compensate for youtube darkening.
Trying to max the quality of Pico 4 on my 4090, any advice? Are we stuck then with this silly compression? Not sure if you've tried usb c to ethernet whether that helps?

@@wickfut-racing fair enough. I've owned every oculus/meta headset before Pro. I would say the CV1 and RIFT S were amazing. I forgot how good they were im sure it felt better than Quest 2 and Pico 4 as it didn't rely on wireless tech. Somehow feel its all going backwards in terms of tech and quality.
@@jungleboy1 I was like that when they shifted from OLED to LCD. I sold my Samsung Odyssey when the Reverb first launched and near cried when I tried it with Elite Dangerous and seen how bad the LCD contrast was. The tech is definitely going in funny directions rather than forwards
But you can also use the PICO 4 wired. Does that make any difference?
No. It still encodes a video compressed stream, sends it and then decodes it back inside the headset. No difference in what happens with USB and WIFI other than USB doesn't have the 5ms network latency
How is your encoding so low? Minr usualky in the 30s to 40ms.
if your encoding is high then it's usually down to your game rendering resolution. Are you super-sampling to 150%-200% ?
Ams2 is the best game right now
yeah, I went through all the VR racing games and this and Project Cars are leaps ahead of everything else. Dirt Rally is decent too like but I don't have a handbrake so don't play it much.
Hi.I think that is 100% scaling on 2168x2100.Can you post all you game and vr settings.Thank you.
100% scaling is 3100x3100 or around about there. SteamVR defaults to 150% scaling which is 3800x3700 with a 4090 and a Reverb. I use OpenXR so bypass SteamVR. This is left to default, which is as I said 3100x3100. In Open Composite settings I have: CAS 20% sharpening. FFR set to Wide/Quality. Turbo enabled. In the game settings I have: Performance menu- RES 1920x1080 59hz (this is what is shown on the desktop so doesn't matter for VR) Texture filtering 16x MSAA Medium Reflections High Environment map High Car Detail Ultra Track detail Ultra Shadow High Mirror No Grass High Particle (both) Ultra Then In the VR Menu Super Sampling 2.0 In the visuals Menu, everything on full other than bloom Off and CREP rays OFF.

@@wickfut-racing ill check it out, i tried getting assetto corsa set up put it was a pain in the ass
Agreed, the compression of the Pico 4 with Streaming Assistant (tethered) and Virtual Desktop (wifi) is horrible, even the Quest 2 looks a little better due to better compression algorithm. The G2V2 is simply amazing when comparing with these two stand alone headsets. Amazing what a real Display Port connection and a real PCVR HMD can give! Biggest problem with the G2V2 is it's a WMR headset and WMR blows dead goats at midnight. I just tested these 3 headsets in the last few days using Assetto Corsa (with CSP), system is a ryzen 5900x, 32 gigs of 32mhz ram, X570 Aorus Elite wifi motherboard and a Gigabyte 4090 gaming OC GPU, Seasonic Vertex1200 watt PSU.
You tested a Pico4 , Reverb G2 and Quest Pro? I bought the Quest Pro first and spent 2 days comparing it to my old Reverb G1 and didn't like it one bit. Uncomfortable, low res with poor black levels were what sprung to mind the first few minutes I wore it, and it didn't improve over time. I posted on the Quest Pro sub asking if my Oculus Tool settings and latency results were normal and they were. I felt like I'd been outright lied to by all the Quest Pro review videos. I returned it within 4 days and bought a G2v2 and a Pico4. I find the G2 really shines once you use it with a 4090.
@@wickfut-racing No, I don't have a Quest Pro, it was a Quest 2 I tested with along side the Pico and G2v2. To be honest, at it's price point, I never had any interest in the Quest Pro, way too much money for what it is. I'm Canadian, so originally the Pro was $2000, since the price drop, it's now $1400 in Canadian funds, still way too much. I am really getting tired of all the affordable to semi affordable VR headsets all being stand alone and the only REAL PCVR headsets are priced out of my range (Varjo Aero and the new Pimax Crystal). Stand alone is great for those who don't have a gaming PC, but for PCVR, they all suck for sims (racing and flight) due to the compression they need to use. The only exception to this would be the Pico Neo 3 Link, never tried one though.
Thanks for the clear information
