Looks smooth and more consistent too.
This series of videos proves that it is not necessary to have the highest quality image or all of the little trinkets like links to videos or merchandise for the video itself to have high quality, valuable content. I am in the middle of the series. Thanks for the content.
Okay, I’ve been working on put consistency a bunch lately and one thing that I just started to notice was that my grip changes from setup to load. This happened mid round during a 25 foot birdie putt. Needless to say, I missed. And this jacked me up for the entire round. So, when I’m setting up the putt, apparently I put my index finger flush with rim, and as I’m loading (which is something I’ve never thought about) I curl my finger under the rim. Seems validating to hear that this is a good thing. Good stuff, thanks for the tips
Great tip, makes sense to keep foot straight at basket. I noticed that your back foot is angled to the left though. Whaqt difference would that make though? Just curious about that 😉
Having my back heel down causes my back foot to create a 90 degree angle. We have a video about why I think it can help you putt better
I had to hear the voice to make sure it was you!! Was wondering how things were going!!!
I've incorporated something very close to this in my own putting style. Choosing to drive my putts forward from my waist to the basket with a semi-firm grip has helped to flatten out my putts like never before. Now to work on confidence as I step up to putt. Thanks for the great video as always.
The “Hook”
No beard and did you loose some weight brother? Looking fit!!!
I have lost a little bit!
Absolutely, the most improvement in my putting has come from this one tip. A lot less putts coming up short and hitting the cage. 100% of short putts are missed putts. Thanks so much.
So stoked to hear this!
One of the first things I learned when I started road bike riding with a team was to put your heel down for more power. If you are up on your toe, that calf muscle is going to flex eating power, and you need to use energy to flex that calf just to keep it solid, whereas heel down, when the calf is at max flex and more solid without effort.
Awesome insight! Thank you!
Insane value of information!
Thank you for watching and for the compliment!
Thank you for the sports data!
Hopefully it helps!
This is VERY much a Uli stance. I was doing this a lot when I first joined the Power DG Academy but honestly have gotten away from it. Probably to my deteriment. Thanks for the reminder. Going to start working on getting back to this. Expect a video in the near future on it. ;) Thanks again man!
Absolutely! I thought of Uli’s putt after I finished filming and felt like an idiot for not mentioning it. Thank you for getting in the comments and can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
Your research and backing up of why you teach what you teach is next level. Thank you for putting in the work!
Well I don’t know if I’m really trying to teach, mostly just share what’s working for me, but thank you!
Thank you... definitely helping a lot. Heel down and paint the pole through the full swing.
Hell yeah! So stoked to hear you’re getting benefit and absolutely with painting the pole!
I have been getting noticeably better thanks to these videos. I'm getting comments from my group when I'm making longer putts than I was. The two main factors are the quiet eye and proper brace. I still have a lot of work left, but these 2 tips alone are saving strokes for me.
Dude this is so awesome to hear! Great work implementing those cues on course!
With all the respect in the world, you just took Discs md's work/drill and made it less efficient. He clearly made his video to put emphasis on the brace. Yours with the "twist" through the power pocket, im not to keen on that. Your "twisting" and how your demonstrating it, seems like a recipe for over rotating/spinning out/collapsin the power pocket (unless you got a elite brace and anchoring of the rear asde). I mean no harm and I'm glad your making these kind of videos!
Hey man I’m just making videos about what works for me. I wasn’t twisting at all so for me just getting the feeling of any rotation is helping. I also wasn’t getting any feeling of weight shift, so just feeling that is helping. I’m not trying preach about form, I’m just documenting what is working for me. These backhand form comment sections always seem to turn into these huge debates about this movement is right or that movement is right. I don’t really care what is right or wrong, if it adds distance I will take it right now and worry about dialing it in for accuracy later. I do appreciate your mention of over rotating I honestly didn’t consider that being a problem for some people, but for me twisting into the power pocket after a good reachback is helping me stop pulling so hard and use more core muscle and not all arm/mid back. Combing it with a good weight shift/brace should prevent over rotating, but that is just the next step I’ll have to implement.
This seems like it could promote some pretty bad form as evidenced by your demonstration on the chair
I dunno maybe but it’s really helped my game since I’ve been doing it. Out of curiosity what do you think looked so bad while I was sitting?
Love it! Nice to see drills like this to train rotating properly!
@@NickCarroll I haven’t tried all the drills but this one seemed to click pretty fast for me

I’m loving the fresh new ideas on this channel and using a swivel stool makes a lot of sense to work on the coil/twist, so I’m definitely giving this one a try! Thank you!
@@Marissa0823 excellent I highly recommend it! I added links in the description for a cheap adjustable height stool and fitness balance disc. I’d also recommend using a net if you have one but a throwing in the field will work as well
Dude, thanks so much! This is awesome! Looking forward to working with you! The swivel chair is an awesome idea!!

@@puttconfidently Thank you! Looking forward to it!
More Please!!!! I'll be talking bout you at DMC....
@@d-clips-in-KC shoot dang! Thank you and have fun out there!
I’m not sure what the clicking noise is from, but I’d let the shoulders naturally come around from out of the backswing. I’ve found it easier to get to the “pocket” by letting the reachback be entirely shoulder driven, which keeps the arm loose. Then it’s easier to nudge that elbow forward. Since it’s a forward arm throw, you want your arm fast to beat your rear shoulder, so adding in any shoulder rotation is a big no because then you would have to compensate somewhere to make your arm even faster to get the disc in and out of the pocket before the rear shoulder goes much beyond 90 degrees.
@@happyboyeeeee the clicking noise is coming from the training tool I’m wearing on my throwing arm to help time things up a bit. Great advice about the shoulder and keeping the arm loose and thinking about the timing of the back shoulder!
Sick drone shot!
Thank You! I'm going to start using it more! Hopefully it helps you visualize things a bit better
Mini hat ✔️ Champ cap ✔️ Solo ✔️ Power sync 📫 Circle tee pads next ❓
lol no that's just something i had around the house, but it is really nice to have for the practice area!
@@puttconfidently I’ve always thought circle design was far superior to box diagram for the tee . Leaves room for the basket location to interchange, safari set up, tee sign visibility, this list goes on for potential construction of the course.
@@Schaibs_dg I definitely see what you're seeing! There would be a lot more options with circular tees. I assume they are just harder to build? I guess they only materials that could be used for circular tees would be rubber or concrete.
@@puttconfidently I don’t see why the same standard tee pad for the PDGPT couldn’t be circular, also gives the players who need longer run up the availability and more angles for shot shaping off the tee
Love a lot of what you have to say steph curry shoots with his feet away from the basket
On doing more research you are right. Someone more like Ray Allen would have been a better example for what i was trying to say that works for me. Thank you for pointing that out.
It’s like we are living in the same body!
Love it!!!
Trust me I'm 43 been playing for 3 years , I can hit over 400 consistently, I would give that up just be decent at putting
We've got a couple videos about putting that should help! What is it about your putting that you feel isn't working? Do You miss in a certain way consistently? It's amazing you can hit 400 consistently Id love to help you improve your putting so you can be an absolute monster in the Masters Division.
Yeah no, putting through the basket is the way to do it
Well if you ever need to get some touch on your putt, I believe this could help you, and if you're aiming for the back edge of the cage, you are putting "through the basket"
Interesting idea. I think the top of your trash can needs to be the same height as the basket rim so you're practicing the same clearance. Also, I don't think this would be very helpful for spin putting. Finally, definitely should get your straddle putt working well. It's helpful for putting on slopes and when your stagger stance is obstructed in some way.
Yes the same height as a disc golf basket cage would be ideal, I just didn't have that at my house but I'm sure that type of trash bin is available. I agree its not great for spin putting, but we don't push spin putting very hard on this channel.
Interesting... But I would use the bin and putt OVER the top, not into it.. In a live game your not putting into the basket, your putting into the chains. Putting into the basket would lead to low misses and short shots due to practicing a shot that would almost need to be stalling as it reaches the basket.. which is not optimum for so many putts... For instance, putting into the bin would require more of a lob... in some instances this would result in hitting the top rim on its way down if it was a bit long.. as opposed to just hitting the chains a little higher and harder on a more conventional shot. Landing the disc on the back of the bin would be fine.. landing it in it would be at the lower extreme of the shot as you only have about 6" between front and back lip at about 20ft Having said that, the narrow target will help you pinpoint your shots where a proper basket is a little vague. A plate sized plastic lid on a cross bar on the bin with a pendulum weight below it would give a good target set about 1ft above the bin... Another plus with the bin idea.. they're cheap... easy to throw your bag in for a counterweight, and fairly portable if you don't have a yard...
Yeah I don't have a perfect prescription, its not meant to be a perfect solution but just something different that can give a different perspective on putting, that could help especially if you need to practice getting some lob on your putt. Thank you for the feed back!
@@puttconfidently The thing is.. Anyone can get a plastic rubbish bin for about the price of s disc.. and you could probably use it for other things like... holding rubbish. I was thinking about portability... on a calm day, a camping chair would be a good choice.
@@TheButlerNZ oh yes a camp chair would would be a great idea. I agree this is not super portable. I didn't think that far ahead but I believe I was imagining this as at at home drill when I started filming.
@@puttconfidently I have both... The bin is 20ft from me now.. in my sitting room... catching cans and musli-bar boxes and the odd 2lt soda bottle. Disc Golf has done wonders for my bin throws... (Tip, 45deg hyzer for a musli bar box...) q8D
What is your take on the disc resting in the chains? I bet you have taken that as being in the basket.
Oh yes those I take every time lol. I forgot to add an asterisk saying those are good. The point i was trying to make was just for the drill of not worrying about the chains, and just focusing on arcing the putts in to the bottom of the cage. Thank you for the reminder to mention that!
I like this! I’d imagine it helps with pace too, and getting the disc flatter? Gonna try it out today!
Yes I think the main benefit from this experiment is goin to be pace adjustment/touch. It could help you putt flatter but I didn't really explore that. Please let me know what you think after trying it, and if it does help you putt flatter, that would be an awesome added bonus!
The PuttConfidently cover is sick. I love the instant feedback and frustration from putting with the cover on my basket. It has definitely helped improve my putting and worth every penny.
That is fantastic to hear! Thank you for the feedback and support!

Please let us know how it goes! and keep and eye out next week I'm going to attempt to put more data behind getting the heel down
@@puttconfidently Copy! Looking forward to it
Keeping the back foot down is a game changer for balance and better weight distribution while putting 👍🏼
Keep an eye out for an even more detailed video about it coming out soon! Its helped me so much and Id like to pass along as much information on it as possible to see if it can help others on the putting green
I am pretty lazy thanks for thinking of people like me! Definitely going to look into some lightweight putters. I don’t know what that rpm disc is you’re talking about what is that comparable to from innova?
Hah its all good were all about playing smarter not harder! Id say its very comparable to an avair from innova. The takapu is a bit deeper though which I think gives it a bit more glide at slow speeds which is why I included it in this video about missing low. Please let us know what you think if you try a lightweight innova putter or two!
Good stuff. I look forward to more content from you. I would also love to see more of your thoughts on other aspects of the game as well (approach shots, tee shots, distance etc), but that might require separate channels or a change in channel name haha.
Thank you! Yes we are going to be doing all of that, starting with backhand stuff. It'll be a few weeks we've got a couple more putting ideas we want to get out there before starting that.
Congrats on 1k subs!
Thank You! Keep an eye out for a give away soon so we can give back a bit for all of the support from the community!
Not guilty. These principles have turned my putting around to a point where people are noticing.
Great job putting the work in to practice and implement them!
This has helped my putt from a stagger position to stay on the pole. I've also revamped my entire putting form from these putting principles videos and have started to make more putts, especially from distance.
Hell Yeah! That is amazing to hear thank you for sharing! Hearing this gives me even more fuel on the fire to keep sharing tips/tricks that at least work for me
Thats what figure skaters do to spin fast
Isn't that how Matty O putts?
I believe he keeps his putts on a more direct plane with a sh*t ton of spin comin from the neck area even from circle 2, but ill have to check this out
My quiet eye keeps pulling my putts right
i dont know if you mean this as a joke or seriously. Are you trying to practice the quiet eye period and you're missing right because of it? Because that sounds interesting. I'm going to be making a quiet eye specific video soon so your insights with it would be useful to include
I used to be a darts player that played several high end tournaments across the country before disc golf. I discovered then I was right handed left eye dominant , the adjustment in darts is to throw from center face like pro phil taylor. Being right handed but left eye dominant I could never shoot a bow regardless despite what pro shop would try to rig up. I am finding the eye dominance issue is harder to work around in disc golf
@@clawshooter5867 wow very interesting. I've read about cross eye dominance but I've never heard of anyone is disc golf having it. where do you have the most success aiming when putting at chains?
@puttconfidently I've spent loads of money on private lessons including 2 current dgpt mpo and 1 dgpt fpo player and from our local 1000 rated players. My putts come put nice and flat fully committed I never miss left low or high. I've tried numbers styles spin, push, push. Straddle right and straddle left and not matter what I pull all my putts right. I focus on the the pole, but I now it's the eye dominance issue because I feel I don't see the basket squarely in my vision, I see it angled no matter how I stand. It's especially bad because I have 425' backhand and 350' forehand at age 43 and I play MP40. Putting is the biggest leak of my game
@@clawshooter5867 wow I'm sorry to hear this about your putting, but I have to admit its pretty fascinating to me. I'm going to do some looking around in sports science studies and let you know if I find any cross eye dominance tips/tricks specific to golf that would translate. I assume you've already tried closing one eye to get a more true vision of your aiming point? it would be a kind of weird thing to have to do when putting but maybe it would help
I think sometimes there's a problem with the language used when teaching things like this. The term "brace", at least for me, doesn't fit here. Weight-shift is more appropriate. I can honestly say that the best and most consistent part of my game is putting and the key to it for me is the weight-shift. I've spent a long time practicing and analysing my putt and the key to it all is to slightly rock the weight from the back foot to the front foot so you're transferring the momentum into the swing of your arm. The great thing about this is that you can then adjust the width of your stance to adjust for distance. It automatically allows you to transfer more momentum the wider you stand and your putting stroke feels very similar for anything from 1m to about 14m. After that, you're into jump putt territory and that's a different ball game. Obviously this only works for the spush putters out there but I do think that the spush putt is the optimal putting technique. Just look at who uses it. I've played around a lot with the straddle putt because sometimes you just have to have it and it's a complete sea-change so non of this advice works for that and I have to commend Kristin Tattar because it's not an easy putt to get the timing right on, but when you do, it's surprisingly accurate. Sorry for the rant =)
We love rants around here! Thank you for your insights!
