Well how are they?! I just ordered 37s for my 22 raptor as well.
@@brianwilson5361 LOVING them. I’ll try to do a review soon. Only knock I can think of is on hard braking there is a lag.. or pull.. I think it’s due to the deep tread depth. . It’s not bad.. just different. Not a frequent occurrence.
Hello... can you please share some details about how you color-graded your clip? it looks absolutely amazing! thanks, Jan.
@@janlibo3882 Thank you for the comment. I used the RNI Films app to color grade this video. The app does photos and video. It’s a truly fun app.
Fuji really need to release an XT6 with the 26 megapixel sensor it’s dynamic range in the XT4 and XH2S
I’m an X-Pro3 owner (hoping for an X-Pro4) and recently ordered a X-100vi, for the size, portability, 40 megapixels, etc. I traded several lenses to shave off the $2K+ markup, but I don’t mind. It’s a great little camera.
@@JohnPatrickWeiss I’ve been waiting for an X-Pro4 also.. helps that you get an ‘extra’ lens with the X100VI at 20MP.
Get an a6100 with a small prime when I use it on the street on a run and gun no one notices it .
@@fred4859 I also have A7Cii with a few small primes. Works great for street because AF is so good you can just point and shoot.
Or just use 180-600 on zf at 600 focal range at distance no one will notice 😂😂
I feel the same. But every time before I walked out of the door, I picked the Fuji.😊
@@shaofengli5479 the X-T5 is much lighter and easy to hold one-handed for walking around.
For apples to apples in terms of light and bokeh you need to compare the 40/f2 on full frame to a 1.4 on Fuji. That will change the size and weight comparison significantly
@@tomwerner352 the Fuji 33 1.4 vs Z 40 f2 maybe? .. 33 blows the 40 f2 away. Is bigger.
@ Yeah that is actually the interesting thing when comparing FF vs Crop. But then you also have to keep in mind the optical qualities where the Fuji 33/1.4 probably blows away the Nikon 40/f2.
Would you recommend this camera to a stills shooter? I do full time headshots and portraits and I want something light and fast, currently shooting FUJI XT5 (since 2018) but thinking of jumping. What lenses would you recommend to rival a 50mm and 85mm equivalent? And a 35? I’m seriously thinking of switching from Fuji to Nikon. But I’m really hesitant. I love Fuji so much.
Thank you for your time to share your experiences with both cameras. I own both, and I see myself using more often the Nikon. Perhaps size matters in producing those amazing Nikon lenses. On my next 10-day trip, I have decided to take both cameras. Depending on my energy level on the day, I will either take the Nikon if I feel fit and strong or the X-T5 if I feel like carrying less weight.
This was very informative. Thanks so much for taking the time to put it together.
But you have to leave the spoon at home? Is it too long?
gorgeous living room btw
Excellent video. Line you, I’m an enthusiast and take photos of mostly landscapes, street, and my kids. I moved away from Canon this year and took the leap into Nikon with a Zf. What brought me over were these photos I took from study abroad 15 years ago. I bought a Nikon DSLR for that trip only and I can never stop going back and looking at them compared to my later Canon photos. The colors and dynamic range were insanely gorgeous, even out of a cheap kit lens. So I took a leap on a Zf and I love and hate it for all the same reasons you stated. My biggest frustration is the lenses. I want the compact lenses with manual aperture. Something that feels solid. The 40 is a great lens but it feels like garbage. I have the SE version, and while the retro look is slightly better, it is so cheap feeling. I think I’m going to buy a Fuji XT5 and just keep them both for different things. More serious things like formal family photos, landscapes, and sports, go with the Nikon. If I’m just walking around with the family or doing some light street photography, go with the Fuji.
This is my single biggest gripe with the Zf. The lenses that ‘match’ it are not awesome. I love the Z 40 f2.. but let’s be honest.. under f4 .. the clouds are parting if I get a sharp/wet eyeball. It’s like that lens doesn’t wake up until about 3.2. When I compare shots of my family from the Zf/40 with shots from the A7Cii/40.. it isn’t close.. AT ALL.. But.. but.. in your case.. the Zf with a Z 35 or 50 can be perfect for family as it does have amazing colors and the Z S lenses are very good.
Hi, have you tried the DR setting on the Fuji?
As someone who's been on the fuji train for a few years now, I'm always looking at other systems. For me it's finding the right rangefinder style body. Originally went with the xt30ii which gave me the dials I like, because the xe4 went to minimal. It's either upgrading to the xpro3 (or xpro4 if that comes out in a reasonable time) or I switch over to sony because the a7cii makes a lot of sense, especially with chasing a toddler around.
I got the Z8 and I love it but I may get the ZF as second camera. Intent to use it with some small prime lenses to walk around so I probably won't mind the small grip too much. if anything I will order the grip adapter but I tent to always hold the cameras with two hand when looking through the EVF. Sony cameras are a great cameras but I have always gravitate to Nikon lenses and RAW files. Always wanted to get try to fuji but outside the fun size and cool looks they never capture me with the RAW files. Their Jpegs are cool as you said though. They all have their place depend what your style and needs are.I just find Nikon a good all around great package.
I used to watch and read the comment sections of arrogant Nikon and Canon users staunchly stating that they would never ever in a million years buy a Sony, because its an electronics company, they'd rather wait until Canon or Nikon made mirrorless cameras because SURELY they'll MAKE A FAR BETTER CAMERA THAN SONY! I'm still waiting to see if Canon and Nikon have caught up, and they haven't. The big reviewers channels claim they're all even-Steven's, but the independent guys are saying Sony is still the king of mirrorless. Canon and Nikon aren't what they're cracked up to be and neither is Fuji. Fuji is actually really bad. For about a decade Canon and Nikon users were mocking sensor stabilization technology and claiming that optical image stabilization was better, yet Canon barely put OIS in less than half its lenses and Nikon was like 10-15% of lenses having OIS. For about a decade Canon and Nikon users were mocking mirrorless as rubbish, and that if mirrorless does surpass DSLR they might consider it, but only if their Canon or Nikon brand made it because it was bound to be so much better than Sony. Their brand ambassadors and sponsored photographers were saying for ages that mirrorless is s*** and no good, now look how they've seen the so-called light. Canon and Nikon users and their sponsored photographers are anti-technology and anti-innovation. Both brands barely ever innovate and expect all their technological advancements to come out of feedback from their sponsored photographers - which is the photographer welfare program that gives them free gear in exchange for free advertising on their youtube channel and blog. Just watch this space, the new Canon R5ii and R1 had design parameters from their sponsored photographer feedback as this: "Just make it a bit better than the Sony Equivalent". The R5ii and R1 has been this hotly anticipated pair of cameras that are so underwhelming, that Sony can probably better them with firmware updates. There's no innovation in a Canon camera except "Make it a bit better than a Sony, and I'll buy it over a Sony". All you have to do is "just make it a bit a better than Sony, or even if its not, the reviewers will just play along like it is". Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is the parent company of Nikon and Fujifilm, so Fujifilm will never have full frame, and Nikon copied the Fuji retro camera into full frame. Exact same design ethos from the Nikon sponsored photographers: "Just make it a bit better than a Sony and we'll buy it". Not much innovation from Nikon, as it just follows the market trend to mirrorless. The only innovation they had was to remove the shutter from some cameras because they could, but maybe they shouldn't - is it an innovation to remove a thing? I heard of one interesting auto focus thing Nikons can do, but ............. Everyone is more blown away by what the Sony's can do. You go with the industry innovator like Sony and Pentax and others. Its remarkable what Pentax IBIS can do with tracking stars in astro-photography and other features of pixel shift that actually works in camera.
@@stevenjohnson4283 Thank you for your comments! Sony truly has come in and kicked some @$$. It’s AF is industry leading. Colors are SO much better since even the A7III.

also, audio quality is terrible. Why are you whispering? P.S. learn how to hold a camera and the "ergonomics" are a non issue. Youre supposed to support the cameras weight at the mount area with your left hand.
@@richardlucascronley5128 Thank you for your instructive feedback.
The ergonomics issue is overstated. Its no worse than any retro inspired fuji. In fact if this camera had 'Fuji' printed on it, no one would say a word
@@richardlucascronley5128 X100V weighs 1 lb. Zf weighs 1.6 lbs. it’s not just the grip. My hands are plenty big and I can lift heavy things.. the Zf is just more unwieldy. It’s not a deal breaker but people should know.
why not use l grip for zf
I have. It doesn’t make a huge difference. The heft of the Zf impacts ergonomics a lot.. grip, for me, was just a slight improvement.
Fully agree with you. Had all 3, sold X100vi quickly for resell value 😂 but also for its worst DR. I'm done with APSC and fully exited Fuji X after 7 yrs... kept Zf as my manual prime lens (mainly Voigtlander) camera, and A7cii as full-auto, easy to carry, kids friendly, travel camera with 20-70 and 70-200 f4 zooms.
@@parkyx I think this is what I eventually do. I LOOVE the X100V but it’s only advantage.. for me.. is that it is small and quiet.. a ninja camera. I know some will say film sims are an advantage but I just don’t use them consistently enough to ‘need’ them. I can’t find a reason to get rid of the A7Cii because with the 40 2.5 and 35 GM it is SOOOO much better than the others while being small. I could add a light 20-70 for a zoom/travel. The images from the A7Cii with those primes are stunning. .. so it comes down to the Zf and X100V.. which one goes.. I think it’s the X100V .. I go back and forth but the Zf, while being beefy/chunky… produces gorgeous B&W images and has the best reds of all the camera bodies… and WAY better DR than the X100V. .. love the X100V.. but if I can only keep 2 it’s A7Cii and Zf.
After 3 weeks and over 200 photos, I had to returned the Zf. Two reasons only: ergonomics felt horrible after hours even with a simple 50mm f/1.8 S and I was noticing weird horrible color noise in low light situations. Never I had the issue with my previously owned Z6ii. Since I am not a professional photographer and started to hate walking around with large lenses, I decided to sell all of my full frame gear and switch to APSC. The Zf is a great camera but not for me.
@@WidePhotographs Very valid points. Any lens bigger than the little 40 exacerbates the bad ergonomics. I love the ‘idea’ of the Zf but the Z 40 isn’t as good as the Sony 40 and AF isn’t as good as A7Cii. The Zf is also harder to just grab and point as the A7Cii or the X100V… and my boys like it the least ‘in their face’. The A7Cii is about the same size with 40 but lighter and so easy to hold one-handed with its grip. I can’t keep all 3.. and even though the Zf smokes the X100V in so many areas like AF, dynamic range, etc.. I think the Zf is the one I have to let go. I’ll add.. every time I review my images from Zf/40 and A7Cii/40 it’s not close.. and I ask myself why I’m not just using A7Cii all the time. Zf is an amazing camera. Its uniqueness is both a positive and a negative. For others.. yes.. I’ve tried the grips on the Zf. It’s not just the lack of grip but the weight. It’s a beefy dude.
@@TCinSoCal I was thinking of switching to the ac7ii since it is a small full frame body and Sony full frame lenses tend to be alot smaller than Nikon full frame lenses. But since i am not a professional, I decided to hold off.
@@WidePhotographs I’m definitely not a pro.
The x-h2s has 14 stops of dynamic range and open gate recording. It smokes the A7IV, you need to put it up against my FX3.
Dude get a mic
@@DONTSASSMEBOI Thank you for your feedback
I have 2 Sony a7iv’s , I never want to grab them for “fun” for work 100% everytime . I also have an x100v . Quick backstory I’ve owned the v 3 times , x100f , xt5 , xt4 2x , xt3 3x , xt2 2x , z6 2x , z50 , z5 and a whole slew of other cameras . Recently I have had kinda an issue with Fuji that turn me off as far as the brand goes and I’m leaning hard for the zf. The weight just gets to me and the size . Do you know if it fits fine in the peak desk 3l ? I’m really on the fence with the whole thing becauee with the v you have the flash which imo really comes in clutch . I really hope I don’t regret this decision.
@@socialbender I’ll check to see if Zf fits in 3L. It does fit in 6L next to an A7Cii & 40 2.4 combo.
@@TCinSoCalthanks man , I own the 6L as well but it’s a big bag . I use it to carry the a7iv within the tamron 35-150
@@socialbender Zf w/ Z 40 fits easily in PD 3L.
While Sony AF is slightly better, and the grip is there, I just slap on the SmallRig grip and enjoy the Nikon colors of the Zf. Helps tremendously with bigger lenses. Not to mention the subject detection in manual focus mode on the Zf. I also do not trust Sony shutters after the A7III and even some A74 have failed. I shot Fuji for 2 years, all the top models, and the AF just wasn't there. I just see better results with Nikon FF. Fuji does have great colors though, I just wish they would get their AF in line with everyone else. They even got passed up by Panasonic.

It's such a shame that Sony makes the ugliest, most uninspiring bodies.
Always appreciate your insight. Just parted ways with my zf because of the ergos with any lens bigger than the 40. Sony for me for now. 👍
@@adamwilbert Thank you! I totally get it.. I think the X100V will be giving the Zf the boot & A7Cii stays. Thank you for commenting.
I have the a7iv and work with the fx3. I also have the a7iii. I love it the most when it comes to ergo. Yes it’s heavy. But it feels so good. It’s also a counter weight for large zoom lenses.
@@kooistradurk A7Cii is so good.. over the A7Cii you get bigger EVF, 1/8000 and 2 card slots.
If color accuracy is your priority, try Hasselblad. You'd wanna sell the rest of your cameras. Nothing can match the tonal and the dynamic range...except the GFX, but with less color accuracy
@@loriolus I’ve always wanted to try Hasselblad.
Great video! I have a x100v - which I do like, but I often get frustrated with it missing autofocus and also wish it had IBIS for better night shots. So I've been thinking about a different/newer camera that's still relatively small (I mostly do street and travel photos) but has IBIS and better autofocus. I had ordered a x100vi but of course it's on eternal backorder, so I started looking at other options. Do you think the a7cii is the best way to go?
@@kidthor I was probably a bit harsh on the X100V.. but I stand behind my AF comments in regards to eye detect/tracking. BUT.. but.. if eye detect/tracking are not important to you then you can toss my AF comments out a window. I should also add that perfect focus on a ‘wet eyeball’ is not the only standard for a great photo. I have shots of my kids that are not quite in focus but the image overcomes bad focus.. My advice is to skip the X100VI for now.. you will pay too much and/or wait. Regarding the A7Cii, it will be great for travel/street but so is the X100V. With some good technique.. distance/zone focusing.. the Fuji is great for the street. What you would get out of the A7Cii would be more size.. harder to fit in a coat pocket.. but faster focusing for moving people and more detail in buildings/landscapes. If you can add the A7Cii I say give it a go.. it can be found used for under $2K.. but if I had to pick just ONE.. it would be the V.
Have you tried the R6II? When it comes to AF it even has a leg up over the a74 IMO. And to me just feels faster and better overall. But of course lens selection is a thing…
@@MikePGuitars I have tried the R6II .. and you’re right about the AF. It’s amazing… but lenses are $$$ and big/heavy.
I think part of the perceived difference in sharpness between the A7(C) and the Zf is the lens and less the sensor itself. But yes, I also noticed that Nikon meters slightly different from, let’s say Canon (because I have experience with both, although they are somewhat older DSLRs with less dynamic range). Nikon always tries to keep the highlights while Canon, if in doubt, blows them out. Both have a distinctive look but you have to know that in advance.
@@thomasa.243 I have used the Z S lenses with the Zf. Even with those lenses it isn’t quite to the detail of the Sony 33 MP sensor IMO.. I will say the Nikon Z 105 MC lens is magical.. that lens is bonkers.
@@TCinSoCalYes, there will be a difference, for sure. For me, the compromise „lower megapixels, lower file size“ is it worth. And the lens is always the deciding factor, much more than the raw number of pixels. But yes, both options are valid ;)
Yeah thats why I chose the A7C, just because the others have uncomfortable grip! The ZF I can't even hold one handed using 70-200mm. While the A7C I could kinda hold in one hand. Although my heart wants to buy the ZF, my brain said the A7C. By the way, great review!♥
@@shadowrevival that little grip is huge for ergonomics! You would also take a hit in resolution.. 33 sensor is really good.

How on every video so many people have both the cameras?? Are you guys professional or amateur? For amateurs, how do you afford all these?
@@TH-camr-lb9ot Great question.. some people get the cameras from the companies or retailers for doing the reviews.. I don’t. I get nothing for free. I am NOT a pro.. just a guy who likes taking pictures and discussing gear.
I thought it was just me. I bought the xt4 with the 16-55 for my high altitude expeditions. For what it offers it's a great package and for someone coming from a D850 it was a lot easier to carry. Landscape photos? Great. I have a 2 year old son and took the combo on holiday to the beach for a couple of weeks. He started running like the little rocket he is and I've tried every AF combination out there. I've watched hours of youtube videos trying to really understand how that AF works on Fujis. My keeper rate is around 60%. I see confirmation that AF has locked on the eye and when playing back, the eye is soft. I love the size of the Fuji kit, I love the sims but what's the point if I'm missing shots. I have a Z9 that I use for wildlife photography and it's unfair to compare the XT-4 with Nikon's flagship however I have to accept a couple more hundred grams to get my keeper rate somewhere between what I'm getting now and the Z9.
Just over 50% sounds right for the X-T4 in that scenario.

I love this comparison. I am an XT2 user needing to upgrade now. Its the XT5 or the Zf as I love dials v menus. I do landscapes and bird photography {NZ). I want more dynamic range as tired of having to stop down to not blow highlights. Weight could be a problem as I have smaller hands than you but the Zf is seeming very compelling for the DR alone.
Thanks for this. Will try it.
The Zf made me a Nikon fanboy again. I shot a D750 for years, but I got rid of it because the autofocus was so beyond terrible, tracking focus for video was non -existent, and as a DSLR it was insanely huge and heavy. Tried Fuji because it was small and mirrorless, loved the retro design, but dynamic range, autofocus and low light performance were pretty bad. Settled on Sony, with great size and weight in a full frame mirrorless, great autofocus, decent dynamic range…..but TERRIBLE colors. I just lived with that. But Nikon really came out of the gate swinging with their new mirrorless offerings! The Zf shocked me with insane dynamic range and color metering so good that it cut my editing to a fraction of what it used to be. The most shocking of all is how otherworldly the autofocus is now. It’s just 100% dead on perfect in my 6 month experience with it, and the tracking for video is also insanely good! All in a nice retro-film-style full frame mirrorless that is maybe borderline on size and weight, but not too heavy and feels extremely tough and well made. They really outdid themselves.
