so basically in the last option, if I need only 45 copies, then also I will have to give money for 50 copies at once, no matter what, but my doubt is what if it will give me 50 copies altogether? as in, can we assume that there is some option on the card reader to write down the specific number of copies we need for our use? because if copies are already published, then revenue will decrease right? Moreover, whatever we do with the copies is of no concern to the library, it has already printed 50 copies, if we are using 10 or 40, doesn't matter, the point is that the machine has printed 50 copies and we have paid the required amount. I think the following case will be a good option only when there is some option to manually type the number of copies we require even if we pay the entire amount, because the cost of printing also comes into play in that case.
or let's say, my card is recharged at 500 cents, and I pay 500 cents at once to the card reading machine, and I need 50 copies, it will give me 500 copies but it will charge the whole amount, basically it won't return the extra 50 cents that it should have, I am getting a bit confused here
@@Add-itaditikapoor This is a PREPAID card for 50 copies. Think of how prepaid cards are used in a video game parlor, say. Then re-read the argument.
@@karishma.anaprep so let’s say I have recharged my card for 1000 rupees, and the games that end up playing have in total cost me 800 rupees, so I have 200 bucks left, but there is no game for 200 rupees, that’s how there would be more revenue for the parlour right?
@@Add-itaditikapoorassume each game is for 10 rupees since the cost of each copy you make is a fixed small cost so you can completely finish it if you want. But say you don’t have time anymore and must leave. You later lose the card or are unable to come back to finish the money. That is how the parlour gains. Here there is photocopying. If you don’t need to photocopy anything more, you may not be able to use it fully.
Economic viability would not be when the cost of producing solar electricity does not exceed the cost of producing oil?
So the difference between B and C is 2, once divided by 2, should that not matter? As in the fastest one should be just 1 lap more than the middle one or it doesn’t matter?
Diff between B and C is 2 which means that they have met twice. This is not their first meeting. But when they met the first time, A was not there. Since we need the first meeting of all 3 of them, that happened when A and B met for the first time. At that time B and C were meeting for the 2nd time and A and C were meeting for the 3rd time. Still all 3 met together at that time for the FIRST time.
@ ahh! Got it, thanks a lot, your way of explanation and techniques are really good
@karishma.anaprep May I know, are such questions still asked in gmat fe? Didn’t come across in Gmat club tests?
@@Add-itaditikapoor Here is the thing - they are a part of TSD word problems and circular motion is fair game in GMAT. If you look at individual topics, they may have just 1% probability of coming in the test but you get only 21 questions so there will be many topics that will not show up. But if you get even 1 question on a topic, it will make 5% of your score. All in all, can we afford to ignore any topic because it makes up a small percentage of questions? No.
@@karishma.anaprep agreed!
Thank you!
Thank you ! you saved my day
What I did was when combining for C, I took 12*63 + 11*73 + 100/25 - it gave me less than 70 so I marked C but I got less than 70. Where did I go wrong?
You forgot the other 100. You have one score of 0 in your calculation that brought the average down. Remember there's 2 that scored 100, so you should've been doing (12*63 + 11*73 + 100*2)/25. The way i solved it was I multiplied the "mean" by the number (70*25), that way I just need to know "is the SUM > 1750?". Plus DI allows a calculator now, albeit not a very good one...
So you got the average less than 70. Now take (63 + 22*73 + 2*100)/25 and the average will be more than 70. So you can get the average as less than 70 and more than 70. So both statements together are not sufficient. Ans (E)
@@drasteilYeah, a very silly mistake which would lead to ans E as well as Karishma pointed out. Oh, Thanks for another method!!
@@karishma.anaprep Yes, just found out my mistake. Thanks for the clarification!
Thank you ma'am, you have cleared my doubts. Need to practice again and again to make it crystal clear.
hi, how would I understand that the 3-1=2 in the ratio of their times would be 1hr 20 mins?
We need to use our own logic for that. Adele has been traveling at speed s and Tom at 3s and they cover the same distance. This means Adele travels for 3 units of time while Tom travels for 1 unit (only then distance will be same). They cover the same distance in that time. The extra time taken by Adele is 1 hr 20 min which is given to us. She traveled for this much time extra. So the extra 2 units = 80 mins.
Hi, In assumption questions, Isn't it the case that correct answer choice "must be true" for the conclusion to hold true? In other words, correct answer choice is absolutely necessary for the conclusion, so the negation of the option would have to "destroy/Invalidate" the conclusion (not just weaken it). However, in this question, through the negation of choice E "..govt spending is not more likely to reduce..." seems to weaken the conclusion, we can't establish that conclusion will be absolutely invalid in this case. because technically its quite possible that the conclusion can hold true even without assuming choice E (example: what if it isn't possible to increase non-govt spending, then its necessary to increase govt spending though its not more likely to give the required result)
What is the conclusion? To achieve A, govt spending is necessary. Now if we negate option (E) and make it "Govt spending is not more likely to increase A" then our conclusion breaks. Then govt. spending is not necessary. The negation of the assumption breaks the conclusion.
@@karishma.anaprep Thank you for the reply. Is "Govt spending is not more likely to increase A" a strong enough argument to prove the conclusion invalid. because it is totally possible that govt spending becomes necessary even while its not more likely to increase A? (Maybe non-govt spending is not enough/available?)
@@anushavuyyuru-q6m It is strong enough to say that "Govt spending is not NECESSARY then" (since it is less likely to increase A)
I did it using assuming 0.1 & 0.2 as x & y. I could eliminate others but had some trouble comparing C & D, D is 0.2/root 0.1 to make it as C: 0.1/root 0.2 we need to multiply by root 2 in denom and 0.5 in numer , so the increase in denom is more (root 2 > 0.50), so, C is smaller is this method recommended or better to take fraction values?
If you must take values, take them as 1/4 and 1/9 so that you know their square roots.
Thank you.
Brilliant question
While i can understand the overall logic, I have a question regarding the ratio. If our numerator is calculated as 30% of 5/4 Act Total, shouldn't my denominator by default be 5/4 act. I can't realistically have 5/6 as my actual Total and my Act Tut calculated as 30% of some other cost i.e 5/4 Act, since Act Tut is a function of Act Total.
All I know is the estimate of tutoring is 30 and estimate of total is 100. The actual values could vary anywhere from 25 to 37.5 for tutoring income (numerator) and 83.33 to 120 for total income (denominator). Nothing says that if I am, say, overestimating the tutoring income, I must overestimate the total income also in the same proportion etc. I may have grossly underestimated income from other sources. All I know are estimates. They are calculated independently, as far as we know.
@karishma.anaprep this really helps. Thanks a lot.
I thought if error is less than 20%, then the estimate tutoring income could vary from 24 to 36 (if estimate value before error is 30), whereas total income could vary from 80 to 120. Could you please help, where I am wrong?
@@ayazyakupov1216 The estimation error has actual value as the base, not the estimated value. That is why we do what we have done here.

what will be the level of this question?
This question is to help you understand the relationship between on the number line. Something like this will certainly be hard on GMAT because it will take time to evaluate each statement. Gmat is likely to expect you to evaluate at most 2 such statements in a question (say in DS).
Very interesting approach
Yeah.. GMAT tests your conceptual understanding, not Math skills…
Also in the last segment of the video, when you said "to find out what the weight should be, identify Cavg, whatever's in the denominator will be the weight" do you mean the amount of weight (w1+w2) or did you mean WHAT the weight is? Just trying to understand, thank you again for making this video!
I mean what physical quantity the weight is. When I am averaging speeds, 'time' must be the weight. I cannot take distance as the weight. Say if I know that speed of 50 was maintained for 1/4 of the distance and speed of 60 was maintained for 3/4th of the distance, I cannot use this formula here.
For the final example did you rearrange 1/3 = 60 - Cavg / Cavg - 50 back into Cavg = C1 * W1 + C2 * W2 / W1 + W2 to get 57.5?
We have 1/3 = (60 - Cavg)/(Cavg - 50). We cross multiply to get (Cavg - 50) = 3*(60 - Cavg) which gives us 4 Cavg = 230 which gives Cavg = 57.5 In my opinion, it is far too much calculation since using the scale diagram, my answer comes instantly but different learners like different approaches so I have discussed both.

Ma'am, you have no idea, how much you helped me! I used to be really bad at quant, like really bad!! I went through your resources on gmat club and ANA prep, especially mixtures and weighted average (OMG, quality notes!), and my scores in quants sectional mocks have soared! I score Q 82 -Q 84 easily! I will not deny that I took efforts at my end too, solved Arun Sharma, solved more than 500 questions easily on GMAT club, but it's always the techniques that help. Hopefully, I can translate those efforts in DI and verbal too! Please recommend your resources for both and let me know how should I practise for both. Though, verbal has improved but I need to enhance further. DI is probably at its worst rn! Your help would be appreciated :) PS: Keep uploading, your videos and explanations are gem!

I read somewhere the official answer is E
E is not correct for the reasons discussed. Note that official questions often have different versions for the same context. You may have a similar otter orca question with a different question stem and options and hence the answer there could be different.
Hello ma'am, how are the 2 quantities, 5k, could you please elaborate a bit on this?
The 0.6% average is for the first two slabs of 0% and 1%. The 0% applies to first 2k and the 1% applies to next 3k. So overall, the 0.6% applies to 5k. Since weights of both are found to be equal, it means the 2% applies to 5k as well. That is how we get 10k.

Thank you so much Karishma! You've changed the way I look at an MSR problem. Truly grateful.
For example, 4. sum of age of 10 friends is 220. When 1 more person is added, let the new average be x and the the sum of the age of 11 friends be 11x. Now, it says the eleventh person's age is x + 20. From here on, I end up getting the value of x to be 20. What should be corrected?
How do you get x as 20? So x + 20 + 220 = 11x gives x = 24

Fantastic!
Take question 1 in the fashion below: 1. If Amoxy is prescribed then PanD must also be prescribed. 2. If PanD is prescribed then Amoxy might or might not be prescribed. (as Its mandate for antibiotic to have PanD with it but not all PanD must also have antibiotics prescribed alongwith. Stem never mentioned, panD must only be prescribed with antibiotics.) Thus, on filling all panD prescriptions it must have covered all amoxy + other drugs'(if there) prescriptions as well. Whereas, on filling all amoxy prescriptions it must have filled panD alongwith, but not all panD prescriptions will be filled with only amoxy taken into consideration. Hence, 1-panD 2-amoxy The only thing the question must have clarified is, there is atleast 1 prescription for each drug. Otherwise, the question could have said, if all panD prescriptions are filled then no amoxy prescriptions are left to be filled, coz it might happen where there were 0 amoxy prescriptions still all panD prescriptions are filled.
Actually, you don't even need to specify that there is atleast 1 prescription for each drug. You are setting up a general truth statement. If he filled all with Pan D, he filled all with amoxy too. Actually whether there were any with pan D or amoxy, doesn't matter. This condition holds, that's it.

Nice explanation. I kept making complicated equations. Somehow my head just automatically goes there and makes things complicated. Any suggestions?
Think of the question as a whole, not a bunch of disjoint data points. When we make equations - take this x and that y, we are breaking the question into small parts and then trying to bring them back together again with algebraic manipulations. That takes twice the time and gets complicated. During practice, invest time in understanding the question as a whole.
