It's a questline from Patches, you thought it would have a satisfying end? There's a reason I give up having his emote, I prefer to beat him up and steal his shoes.

Could it just be FromSoft doing a Patches and pranking the player? Do all this shit for a supposedly great reward only to get screwed with a useless item like the gullible fools we are? Very Patches.

The quest wasn't in the game at launch. Patches just vanished from the game once you did Volcano manor. They added the shaded castle stuff after a patch and then patched him into going back to his cave afterwards. So it's unfinished and they patched in another step then left it unfinished still.

I’m pretty sure Patches talked shit after giving you the reward for Tragoth because you didn’t buy anything from him. I believe the contract and that dialogue are unrelated.

You missed some steps mate you can get another emote if you go back to him after fighting him the first time, if you fight him again and let him take you to low health you can ask him for forgiveness and hell spare you and give the extreme repentance emote

The first time I found that machine I killed it. I recalled Patches' line about the thing and how it takes you to Volcano Manor, which I could not seem to find, so I reloaded and let the thing take me. Wrong bucket of bolts. Later I found out I walked right up to the manor and thought I hit a dead end because I didn't turn the corner

It's a freaking miracle you survive that fall after that kick. That's the biggest fall yet.

If you kill Tanith, at any point after she’s attackable, does it change Patches’ dialogue anywhere?

8:03 You have to reach the end of the quest to get the reward. Strike Tanith to summon her guard for the last fight and subsequent reward in the questline.

The real quest was the friends we made along the way.

It's Patches, the final reward is to actually kill him in that cave the 2nd time.

It's not unfinished. That IS the "quest." It's not a real quest. It's Patches being Patches. He FAKES a heroic death to give you the castanets (he dies in one hit when he slumps after you get it). He's trying to start over, so he sends you far away after his death and tries to use the opportunity to go back to his old ways is all. Patches is just Patches

The reward is the leather armor set 😉

Fextralife is in no way "the official" Elden Ring wiki. And there's nothing unsolved about this quest. Tanith rejecting the castanets *is* the finale.

I can’t really get over people using the term quests for the stories which unfold parallel to your own adventures. I don’t believe this is the term we should use for that, which in turn would help setting up the right expectations for players. The „quests“ are there primarily to breathe life into the world in my opinion. Sure, sometimes you get cool stuff out of being part of those stories, but they’re not really quests in the typical sense, in my opinion.

The dancer's castanets are Elden Ring's equivalent of the pendant from Dark Souls.

If the DLC taught me anything... We must emote EVERYWHERE till we find it

Volcano Manor in general is intriguing. Why patches simps for Tanith? how did he end up with the castanets? why Tanith doesn't accept them? was she related to the dancers of Ranah from the DLC, since the castanets say they are from a distant land? where did Tanith AND Rya go, even if you search the whole map, you never see any hint of any of the 2 after you're done there. Michael Zaki sir, please give answers. Send elden ring 2 or a 2nd DLC.

What weapon were you using

Claw talisman double giant crusher, stance break tear, do jump L1 couple times, golems stance break before even making one attack, Hit the face for 22k damage. STILL it got up with one hp lol had to kill him with R1

Use the emote in front of the chick eating the head, then give her the item.

Has anyone tried this quest in different NG+ cycles, or doing the quest in every NG+ cycle for 7 cycles? Has any crazy research like that gone into this?

I think his comment at 3:50 is because at that point the shop is open, but you left without buying anything.

I kinda just took it as confirmation that she was a dancer like the one you find in the DLC. Just more lore implication than reward

7:50 - Honestly, I can't think of anything more fitting of the character Patches than a quest that leads nowhere. Honestly kinda feels like a purposeful troll.

From my perspective, I saw my bro fall for a gal that cares about little more than herself and the dude she likes and coincidentally the dude she likes only cares about himself. Luckily he snaps back to reality in the end and moves on, all in all t'was but another short lived love in Patches' life.

You could open the chest in the cave after the initial fight with him there, just reload at a grace. I dont believe you should go there at the end because he sells margit shackle which hellps with the bossfight.

No character in Souls games is ever left alive just because, I'm whiling to bet that future dlc will conclude this quest
