Realistically the only way to have true wealth is to have your own business Im wondering realistically is Residential the most practical to transition into owning your own?

When you were showing the inputs and outputs early in the vid, my understanding is that color code conventions suggest blue as the 24V discrete I/O and the red is the 120-240V analog i/o. At least in the US that's what I am used to.

  • @nazgullinux6601

As an autodidact, I stubbornly avoided trade schools, college, apprenticeships and unions. I spent 10 years learning every single thing I could involved in electrical work, buying NFPA volumes, uglys books, electrical engineering books by the legendary C.P. Steinmetz which covers everything from logic level voltages and current to long distance 350kV+ transmission line systems. I took to learning, also, computer hardware, computational logic, programming, and as much on electrical hardware design convention as I could find. I'm pretty sure I stuffed more knowledge into my head than any formal method ever would have. The hardest part of all of it was getting my foot into the door. It took 2 good solid years but once I found a company willing to let me show my stuff, I showed my stuff and then some. 5 years later, I am about to be moving up to controls and automation engineer which includes robotics installation maintenance and programming. Kuka, fanuc, and ABB specifically. I took the hardest route to take and it paid off for me. I'm make a great 6-fig hourly wage at a company that I fell right into nice and comfy maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing flexo-gluer folder corrugation equipment. It's an absolute joy knowing what I've done for myself. But unless you have the grit to put in the time and work required, I suggest formal training and not the self-teaching route. Electrical came naturally to me. It doesn't come naturally to most. But it is very much worth it to get into as a career.

Hi! What type of construction work are you currently doing? Commercial or residential? You can perform construction work as an industrial electrician. I would recommend you apply at the big companies that work on building large oilfield facilities. This will help you gain experience in the industrial field without working too much on live equipment.

Haha ya A lot of oilfield facilities look the same, until you start venturing off into other areas. Texas is a good example, and then anywhere overseas, things become a lot different.
