เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 ก.พ. 2021
Model train layouts and exhibitions. Do some unboxing now and again. Plus Cab Rides.
I'm Pete, I have a model train cabin 10ftx10ft.
It's on 4 running tracks with a variety of scenics around it.
Like to help if I can with my limited knowledge. I am DC only, so can't help with dcc.
I never give negative comments, something I don't agree with I won't comment.
Hope you enjoy my channel.

Dapol Track Cleaner and what to avoid + meet Bob. 🤔

How to operate the Dapol track cleaner and what not to do. I used IPA got it over my hands and spilt it on the Dapol Cleaner. It damaged the paintwork. But the vacuum works very well, the polishing disc and friction disc do work. Overall results were good with the Dapol Track cleaner.

Great update Pete and the engine shed area is really going to be a great feature.
Hi Roger Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Yeah been sitting doing nothing for some time, scratching my head what to do with the space, then light bulb moment, turntable and engine sheds. 💡 Thanks for watching Roger. ....Pete....
@@delphjunction1168 Great progress mate and keep it up
Looking really geed Pete, the whole area is coming together really well. I like the LED strips - I’m thinking they could be useful to illuminate my helix! Take care, Andy 👍👍
Hi Andy. Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah they are quite good, wish I'd got the ones where you could just have 1 or 2 leds. They would be just the thing for the helix, don't take up any room. Thanks for watching Andy. ....Pete....
I used plasticard for one of my smaller sheds and Das clay for another. Just keep an eye on the card could sag with cold damp temperatures over time.
Hi again Gaz. Yeah thought that with the card. Looks fine at the moment though. Been using modelling putty for a few things, nice and easy to use. And not messy like filler. Thanks again for watching Gaz. ....Pete....
@delphjunction1168 yeah putty should be good to work with loads of time to shaped it to what ever you need before it goes off.
Good work 👍 that's how I did my shed base.
Hi Gaz. Thank you buddy. Yeah done enough concreting outside thought I'd give it a try on the layout. 😅 Thanks for watching Gaz. ....Pete....
@delphjunction1168 why not put those skills to use 😂
🌝 To messy Gaz. Don't mind to much on the layout, but at 69 past hard work outside now..
Thanks for posting this. I’ve just had one arrive so hoping it’s effective as most of my track is disappearing under OHLE so really need some help cleaning!
Hi. Just be very careful if you use IPA. Don't make my mistake ☹ You are very welcome hope it helps. Will say also be careful with that fan tool, mine broke but I can still get the fan out with a little screwdriver. Thank you for watching. ....Pete....
Thanks for that - a great video. I'm in the process of building a TMD for my locos and was looking for ideas. Just a quick question, how did you clear the rails once the 'concrete' had set? Thanks again.
Hi Alfie. Thank you for your nice comment. Takes a bit of effort to clean it and make the gap for the wheel flanges. I use a small paint stripper blade, then use a very small file being careful not to touch the top of the rails, then micro fibre pencil and track rubber. Seems to work well. Good luck with your TMD Alfie. Thank you for watching. ....Pete....
Sorry Alfie, forgot to say if you do it, cut the flanges before the filler gets hard, go along with the stripper blade just enough for the wheel flanges.
Good progress Pete - those lighting strips are really good, turntable working well
Hi Lyndon. Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah used those lights in all my buildings, wish I got the ones where you can cut individual leds though, not just in sections of 3. Thanks for watching Lyndon. .... Pete and Su....
nice update, thanks for sharing
Hi. Thank you for your nice comment. Part 3 on it's way. Thanks for watching. .... Pete....
Excellent job Pete. Comes to life with the lights. You should be pleased, Excellent use of space, And I like the turntable. 👌ATB Stuart
Hi Stuart. Thank you for your nice comment. High praise coming from you with your skills, much appreciated Stuart. Yeah makes all the difference with lights and little people, yet to be added. Wasn't sure about the Hornby turntable, so many bad reviews on them. Didn't want to cut a hole in the baseboards so didn't have much choice. Happy with though. Thanks for watching Stuart. All the best. .... Pete and Su....
Nice job pete coming on, I was hoping to do doncaster this year, but I don`t know what my situation will be with a motor, I`m still trying to find something before friday.
Hi Clive. Thanks for the nice comment buddy. Might see you at Doncaster then Clive. Think there are a few going. Thanks for watching Clive. ....Pete and Su....
Hi Pete, the deisel shed is looking great with the lighting. It should look great once you've added scenics to that area... Cheers James 🙂👍
Hi James and Dylan. Thank you for your nice comment. Yes definitely look better with the scenics down. Thanks for watching guys. ....Pete and Su....
Nice work Pete. Looking great. Always satisfying when a plan comes together 👍 Happy Modelling
Hi Mon. Thank you for your nice comment, hope you're well. Try new things, if it doesn't work will know next time. Thank you for watching. ....Pete and Su....
Hey Pete and Su, nice work on the sheds. What do you wire the LED lights to is it the main bus that powers the track of is it on another bus? Good to see I am not the only one making changes to our layouts. Take care
Hi Tony. Thank you for your nice comment. The power is from a bus line that comes from a variable voltage adapter I bought from Amazon. Thing is I have a lot of lightning on that bus, so will be doing another one, it's all controlled via a switch on the control board. Yeah that's the problem with this hobby Tony, we can never make our minds up ay. 😏 Thanks for watching Tony. ....Pete and Su.....
Pete, your apron is lovely 😂 that’s is looking fabulous the lighting in your sheds are super. Very clever idea with the cardboard you fitted it brilliantly. The whole area is looking great. My regards to Su
Hi Maura. Thank you for your lovely comment. When you said the apron was lovely did you have a big smile on your face. 😁 Thought I'd try something different with the cardboard, I know you can but ready made bases but like to scratch build them Lights are ok at the moment but got to much on one bus wire. Going to do another bus if I do more Lights. Thank you for watching Maura. Hope you're well. Su says Hi.👋 ....Pete and Su....
Hello, Pete and Su! Great update... the buildings look great with the lights. I have used the same light strips in a couple places, but I have not toned them down. There are many tricks for dulling them from tape, to paint, to resistors, or even little bits of white plastic a few mm below to diffuse the light. Great to see it all! Cheers and all the best.
Hi Anthony and Joyce. Yeah gone the lazy way with putting paint on the leds. I'm not tech savvy like yourself so the easiest way for me. Thanks for watching guys, hope you're keeping well. ....Pete and Su....
Hi Pete :) Does Su know that you've stolen her pinny? Personally i think it realy suits you. Maybe get something with flowers on? 🧑🍳lol. Thanks for the video. It's really coming along!
Hi Mav buddy. Yeah ok with Su had to pay her £2 an hour rental 🙄. Getting there Mav taking my time with this one. Thanks for watching Mav. Hope you're well mate. Everyone is concerned about you. Su says Hi. ....Pete and Su....
nice set up Pete wish i had room for a turntable
Hi Dwight. Thanks buddy. You have quite a bit of room in the middle of your layout . Might mean a bit of re designing. Thanks for watching Dwight. ....Pete and Su ....
Hi Pete you was very patience and stuck at it and the train ran very well over it. Colin
@@collinsngauge5493 Hi Colin. Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Yeah just trying different ways of doing things. Please with the turntable heard so many bad reviews on them, can't fault my one at the moment fingers crossed 🤞 Not as realistic and good as the Peco one, but will do me. Thanks for watching Colin. ....Pete and Su....
Mic problems? we would NEVER have mic problems 😂😂😂😂
😅 Said I didn't turn my mic on, but forgot to take it off the apron, 🙄 Happy finally with the wireless mics I have now. Thanks for watching Rob and Grace. Hope you're both well. Su says Hi. ....Pete and Su....
@ Rob just sounds like the chipmunks don’t he 🤣
Hello Pete, looking great! I like those LED strips too and the lighting always looks nice and makes it look like someone is around....
Hi Dirk. Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah with you there, got lights in all my buildings but maybe to many on one bus line, going to introduce another 12v source. Add the little people as well brings the layout to life. Thanks for watching Dirk. ....Pete and Su....
Good video, the lighting looks good on you. It's a great area to play with and enjoy. Greetings and take care 1 like 👍
Hi Paco. Thanks buddy for your nice comment. Yeah get to my age no more work, so second childhood time. 😁 Thanks for watching Paco. ....Pete and Su....
Great job Pete on the engine shed and light also good to have more loco storage. I have found set track to be more stable than flexy. It's possible the piece you had got twisted somehow. The brightness of lighting is a very personal thing and always go with what you want, that way you are happy. Thats all that matters.
Hi John. Thank you for your lovely comment. Yeah storage was important as I haven't got any fiddle yards just sidings. When I talk to Deano he swears by set track, it certainly cured my problem. 😁 Don't like the buildings to bright, camera makes them brighter anyway. Agreed 100% with you it's what give you pleasure in this hobby. My modeling is nowhere near your talent, but I get a lot of pleasure doing my best. Thanks for watching John. ....Pete and Su....
Hi ya Pete Sir. The layout is coming along nicely mate, keep up the good work. Regards Alan in the loft :o)
Hi Alan. Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah taking my time with this one. Not an expert modeler but trying my best.🌝 Thanks for watching Alan. ....Pete and Su....
Looking good Pete.👍
Hi Mick. Thank you for your nice comment. See if I can hide all the bad bits at completion ay.🤔 Thanks for watching Mick. ....Pete and Su....
Hello Pete, I hope you and Su are both well, Brilliant work on the engine shed area and the turntable works so well, great job adding lights. Take care buddy Deano
Hi Deano, Hannah and Millie. Thank you for your nice comment Deano. Got to wire up another 12v supply to much on that one bus wire. Thanks for watching buddy. ....Pete and Su....
Hi Pete, it’s all coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing Andy
Hi Andy. Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Yeah doing it in small stages not rushing it. Not as nice as you layout but trying my best. Thanks for watching Andy. ....Pete and Su....
Great work Pete. I'm in the process of working out where to have my town/village scene. Hope you and Su are keeping well and you weren't affected to much by the storm. All the best, Jon and Hollie.
Hi Jon and Hollie. Thank you for your nice comment. I liked doing the town bit, I used wet and dry for the road ways. First time I used card for a base, not as good that the experts do. Wind not to bad here in Peterborough, hope you didn't suffer any damage. Thanks for watching. ....Pete and Su....
No damage here thankfully in the West Midlands Pete. Hollie is looking forward to helping with the scenics.
Hi. Pete. Looks great. Adding illumination makes a world of difference. Regards. Steve
Hi Steve. Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah got a lot of lights on one bus wire lights fluctuating a bit. Got to bring in another 12v supply. Thanks for watching Steve. ....Pete and Su....
I see you put cork all over that area
Hi Aaron. Yeah just saves time and deadens the sound. Thanks for watching Aaron. ....Pete and Su....
AaronVille here.. Aaron 😂
Hi Aaron. Thank you for watching buddy. ....Pete and Su....
Looking Great Pete.. Hi to Sue
AaronVille here… Aaron 😂
Hi Aaron. Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Su says Hi.👋 Thanks for watching Aaron. ....Pete and Su....
I wonder if air dry clay would be just as easy for the hard standing. Very brave poring on pollyfilla... Gives me palpitations lol😂
😅 Hi thank you for your comment. I use modelling putty as well, bit like air dry clay. Wanted to try the filler on a large area as an experiment, won't be using it again just to messy. Did a small engine shed with filler went well. Shouldn't have put too much in, in one go. Learning curve. Thank you for watching, please don't get any palpitations 😆. ....Pete....
@delphjunction1168 yeh it was messy enough using lightweight filler on my platforms. Looks great though
Looking good, thanks for sharing.
Hi Dave. Thank you for your nice comment. Getting there in the end. Thanks for watching. ....Pete....
Well that is a fine start to this interesting area of your layout. Great use of space, plus a great (and brave!) technique with the filler. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to the next installment 👍🚂
Hi Darryl. Thanks for your nice comment buddy. Yeah the filler nice and messy, won't do it that way again for large areas. Thanks for watching Darryl. ....Pete and Su....
What a great look back over 2024 - many thanks Pete. And, of course, always lots to look forward to in 2025. Roll on the fine days of spring ... All the best 👍🚂
Hi Darryl. Thanks for your nice comment Darryl. Yeah did quite a lot in 2024. Even managed to get a market stall. 😆 I'm starting 2025 with the turntable build, then the Doncaster exhibition. Thanks for watching buddy. ....Pete and Su....
A (very) belated Happy New Year to you, Pete 👍🚂
Hi ya Darryl.. Same to you and yours buddy. 🍾🍾 ....Pete and Su...
that looks amazing pete, wish we had space for a turntable
Hi Rob and Grace. Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah didn't really have the space myself, but so wanted a turntable. Should have thought of that when I first started building the layout.☹ Thanks for watching guys. ....Pete and Su....
🤠👋🚂🗯
Thank you.
Nice one Pete, good idea to put it on a "concrete" base. I'd have never thought of using filler. I'm getting my "railway cabin" next month, so I'll be able to restart my layout soon. I can't remember what kit I have in the loft from when I dismantled my layout. Couldn't save any track, but I know I saved the points (as they're expensive!) and buildings. Hoping I have a train shed, pretty sure I do. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Graham. Wow your going for it nice one Graham. I've used the filler before but on a smaller area, don't think I would use it again for larger areas. Very messy indeed. Bet your looking forward to starting, just remember take your time. Try and keep to 3rd radius bends in the tracks, could get problems with 2nd on some locos. Getting all excited for you buddy. 🌝 Thanks for watching Graham. ....Pete and Su....
Hi Pete You have made a very good job of the engine shed and you have some extra playability with the turntable. Cheers Kev
@@medwaypeninsulaMR Hi Kev. Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Yeah very limited space but should have enough to make me smile. 🌝 Thanks for watching Kev. ....Pete....
Hi Pete You have made a very good job of the engine shed and you have some extra playability with the turntable. Cheers Kev
@@medwaypeninsulaMR Hi Kev. Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Got 2 comments the same from you.😆 Yeah very limited space, should have enough to make me smile though 🙂 Thanks for watching Kev. ....Pete....
Nice job and update thanks Pete regards Paul
Hi Paul. Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Going to take my time with this one, I usually tend to rush things. Love to Paris, Su says Hi. Thanks for watching. ....Pete and Su....
A very nice job Pete, messy but an excellent result. Keep up the good work mucker and looking forward to Part:2, see ya in a couple of weeks pal.....Andy
Hi Andy. Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah messy is the word, won't be doing large areas again like that. Yep only a couple of weeks, not got any tickets, pay on the day this time. Be great to meet up again. Thanks for watching Andy. .... Pete and Su....
Nice one Pete, taking shape now.
Hi Clive. Thanks buddy. Yeah slowly but surely. Messy job though. Thanks for watching Clive. .... Pete and Su....
Excellent Pete. Job well done there.
Hi Dan. Thank you buddy. Used your tip with adding paint to the filler first. Thanks for watching Dan. .... Pete and Su....
Nice start Pete!
Thank you for your nice comment. Very messy but got there in the end 😊 Thank you for watching. .... Pete....
Excellent job Pete. All really smooth, lovely layout, ATB Stuart
Hi Stuart. Thank you for your nice comment buddy. Yeah very messy, don't think I'll go down that route again unless it's a small area. Thanks for watching Stuart. ....Pete and Su....
Great to see you back at it with a bit of mojo! That was brilliantly done and fun to watch! As for the filler, I think it was fine, just have to do it a bit at a time so you don't overfill. You did it the way I have seen everyone do road pours and cement slabs! So, you got it down right! Cheers and all the best to you, Su, and the family!
Hi Anthony and Joyce. Thank you for your nice comment Anthony. Yeah I agree with you should have done it in smaller quantities, very messy. Glad you liked it don't think my top did.😏 Thanks for watching Anthony, love to Joyce, Su says Hi. ....Pete and Su.....
Its probably a bit late now but i use and old wagon and run it along the rails to cut the slot for the flanges.
@@kelvinVAUGHAN Yeah did that as well as a file. It is a messy way of doing it though. But the end result is old concrete not new looking.
Good luck with your TMD. I am doing one for my club layout, which would be OK if people didn't keep doing stuff to it before i am ready. Too many Indians and not enough chiefs.
Hi Kelvin. 😆 You want to put your foot down, probably all well meaning but would be frustrating. Thank you for watching Kelvin. ....Pete....
