Thank you!.... It's a special place for us too, when the children were younger we had some lovely holidays there. We went back in November (The children and their partners) for my 'big' birthday and it was just as we remembered. Just a nice simple place. All is well with me thank you, had a very busy (socially :-) 2018 so my hobbies slipped, 2019, I'll be more active. Hope you are doing ok and keeping busy!!

Is there a video for the build of this craft? The split view is very interesting. Some sort of plastic bowl, you have me thinking, Poundland were doing a clear plastic fishbowl shaped container for sweets I think and I was racking my brain trying to think of a purpose for one and now I might have a use I bet they have stopped selling them :-)

GrandadIsAnOldMan no, I really wish I had though. Those plastic bowls were the fake security camera domes I believe... I experimented with them but they were just too small. Here is a photo of it set up... photos.app.goo.gl/mkQg4DZXsjMsKcCP7 Basically it's a shaped lump of foam (by hand ✋), then a frame build to mount the motor and control surfaces. On the top and bottom I've put 1/4 20 tripod threads (in deep and glued, so no risk), which I can attached anything to...mainly cameras or booms. Basic RC setup of 1 servo moving the control surface, with plenty rates adjustment. The motor is a 2205, 1500kv with 7 inch prop. After a few experiments with motor/prop combos, this was most effective. It'll run on any 3s from 1300mah upwards. Hope this helps!! Cheers, Neil.

heady2008 I still fly that kf trainer Andy, it's very relaxing to fly...sturdy build too. The skyfun is a crazy plane, it can fly slower than the bixler without stalling and really zip too.

Yeah, the Skyfun is a very versatile platform. Slope soarer,fast jet and fpv model. Lots of room under the canopy for equipment as well

GrandadIsAnOldMan thanks! Plan is now to install a watertight transparent dome and put a fpv cam in it... With the wiring for the fpv tx and battery routed through the hull. Should be fun to try! 😬

Thank you, I will warn you next time. :-) It's definitely different, it can't be described as a relaxing experience!...I do prefer the lazy, slow gliders but I picked this up quite cheap and wondered what it would be like...it's good to tinker with these planes too. I have no idea while these places are so empty, it's not like they are miles from civilisation, it's only two miles from fairly big towns. I'm not complaining though! Loved your Bristol harbour ferry trip, you went straight past my office :-)

I've got the RadJet and SkyFun now, great fun. Took me while to get the launch right on the both of these. it's different to the Bixler hahaha Loving the RadJet though, mighty fast, even as the stock set up. The SkyFun had a pretty bad crash on it's maiden a few weeks ago (repaired now), I lost all signal at close range but 100ft altitude. I have 3 Orange receivers which had been playing up in my slower models and I stupidly put one in the Skyfun :-( I've swapped them for Spektrum now, don't want the stress. Yes, both wing tips torn off and motor ripped out :-( Glued the wings back, that was quite easy, motor mount needs more attention. Just glad it wasn't balsa...

Grandad is an Oldman :-) I did have a little glue gun that runs off a 12v lipo with me, but the thought of staying up there in frozen winds with a mad spaniel jumping all over me convinced me to walk home :-) I'll share the repair job soon. Have a good Christmas!

Neil Wildy Yes, sitting down in a warm room with a hot glue gun to keep you company is probably more appealing than the cold side of a mountain. If it was a warm summer afternoon it might have been different. Have a good Christmas too :-)

I was lucky with the conditions, normally it's cloudier. Hmm I think FPV is beyond my technical capabilities, I've looked at it a few times but struggle :-( ......I'll look out on your channel for some tips :-)

I haven't invested in FPV kit yet although I did think on a boat or a car it might be a safe introduction to the concept.

I had actually considered using the camera' Wi-Fi functionality (to the Phone App), as it has a range of 50m or so, but it doesn't work underwater :-( Good point through, for the above water footage, it's a good way to try it. Will give it some thought if it can be done on a (tight) budget.

+Neil Wildy haha yes that view is great and very peaceful but I meant the onboard camera view of the flaps and ailerons in operation and the lack of wind noise picked up by the camera :)

+GrandadIsAnOldMan ohhh hahaha. Yes, I think that's partly due to it being a calmish day and the flaps slowing it right down. The first flight (no flaps and massively tail heavy!) was nearly a disaster and much noisier...might upload that video for comedy alone 😂

I am trying the sloping Andy 😀 does the Phoenix seem nose heavy here, it really struggles for lift and nose drops in lowish wind on a slope (8-10 mph). In stronger winds it's really stable...I'm running a 2200 3s. might drop to 1300 in lower winds. Time has flew, 8 models later, hours of stick time and repairs and great fun. If I hadn't had flew that trainer, I wouldn't have got happy with the bixler. Catch up soon!

My PK2 is set up just as a sloper but still needs 15 mph+ wind and good lift. Remember that wind speed doesn't always guarantee good lift. The slope shape and direction of the wind relative to the slope are just as important.

It was a perfect weekend for easy flying 😊
