Thank you so much! I brush my 3 long hair cats every day. One has a ton of hair & is very prone to mats. I looked for how to shave off mats & your video came up. I am new at shaving & a bit fearful. She has a mat i have tried to cut off & had difficulty. You helped me so much! I set my shaver from 8 to 10 & i was able to shave it off just fine thank you so much for this video!

I had my old kitty shaved yesterday - we are going to have to do it in two rounds because he had just had enough and the groomer had to get the legs still, but I can see today he feels so good. Definitely keeping up with his grooming so that he doesn't have to go through this again. It's tough being old when you're a kitty... I have to say, the shaving took an hour. I wish it had gone this quickly.

Wow! You truly are amazing! What are some questions I can ask a groomer who I am hiring to groom my cat? My long haired cat has big mats on his belly that I have been scared to cut myself and I am really worried about hiring the wrong person to do it. I know it has to be done, but I want to make sure he is safe.
Is he neutered?
Yes. If you notice he has a community ear tip. He was a community cat outside of the restaurant. He is neutered. 👍

Sweet cat and professional groomer! Love the trusting look he gives you as you are bathing him! Does this clipper have a way of guarding against skin nicks? Could I use a beard groomer without a length guard and still safely shave my matted cat? If I have a guard on it I cannot seem to move through the mats. I would prefer to shave his matted areas myself because I KNOW he will not behave at a groomer and I do not want them to sedate him… Seeking guidance - have many cats and am experienced with cat behavior, but not grooming techniques! 😺Thanks!
@@dianaheaphy8294 use a clipper designed for pet clipping. 👍Wahl Animal USA has great clippers, and guard sets. People stuff cuts too close and you risk cutting cats delicate skin. Kitty skin is not attached to the muscle. So when it cuts it rips. Often needing staples not stitches. Get a clipper made for pet clipping if you choose to do it yourself. Having the right tools and equipment is essential. If a cat has knots and tangles it needs to be done with a number 10 blade no guard. There is no way to cut through matted hair. We have to cut underneath it. I hope that helps and good luck to you.💚🫶

I need to learn how to groom cats, I have seven barn cats that wander our Farm. We’ve had them since they were newborns. They are all now 11 years old. Three of them have long hair, different textured hair and the cost of the grooming has gotten so high that I can’t afford it., your video is very helpful. I do have a question, did you sedate him and was it with something natural?

Very nice. He's a clean cut man now. Will his hair grown back. I have a long fur cat with those same problems but it's his fur that I love about him.
I did this lion cut in 2021. His hair did grow back and he passed away in 2023.🫶
Can i use normal wahl trimmer for pets or need to get specific for animals ??
@@mamtagoyal2382 I do not recommend it. Those are for humans. Feline skin is very delicate. You could risk tearing their delicate skin.

She is 💯 NOT declawed If you’re watching the same video and you see me trim the nails, you’ll see actually the little pieces of the nails..That I’m trimming. Pet parent asks for nail trim and that cat will absolutely tear you up. it’s for my safety as well . It’s growling at me for the entire nail trim. Did you see me trimming the nails in the very beginning with the scissor nail trim that is not a declaw …. When I worked at the vet many years ago they did preform that procedure…because it’s falling out of fashion in the US they amputate with laser surgery veterinarian present, that’s not happening here 👍

Which ones? I typically buy from four different places. But I run two locations and have to buy a lot. Dander is different than dandruff. We can’t see dander but we can see dandruff. I do have recommendations for either or just let me know. 😊🐈 and I can point you in the right way.
Ok so why are you shaving him against the grain of the way his hair grows? I’ve never seen that, I’ve always been told to shave in the growth direction…?

I watched your video and purchased the KM10 clippers. We have a Norwegian Forest cat and his fur constantly mats. He has double fur with a fine undercoat. The clippers worked perfectly for about 5 minutes and then became less effective no matter how many times I cleaned and oiled them. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! 😊
Can you recommend a brand for the razor?

This month I’ve been grooming cats 10 years and I opened my states first cat hotel. Grooming cats I’m not worried about being attacked, but when they’re boarding, they can be a little frisky some of them 😅

Cats do not retract their claws the way you think…The cap application is correctly demonstrated here. I did not put them on too far. I put them on shelters. I put them on various vet clinics. I absolutely know how 💯 It’s what I do everyday 🩵🐈
My clippers get hot very fast also. That was one reason I purchased the KM 10 is because I didn't think they were supposed to get hot.
Any clipper that runs fast is gonna run hot. Your blades should be oiled, cleaned, and sharpened. It will help. 🫶
I have the exact same clipper with the 10 blade. It just came in and it will not cut through my Persians matted hair. It's extremely matted. So is the clipper supposed to cut through the mats or do I need to go underneath the mats? any tips would be appreciated. We have no cat groomers nearby. Ive been a hairstylist for years but clipping a cat is a completely different ballgame lol. Any tips would be appreciated.
It’s the technique. Not the tool or the equipment specially, if it’s new.🫶 I have been teaching pet professionals as an educator for years. It’s way different🫶

When the fur grows back, do you generally trim the fur at the edge from where the shave stops, so it looks more uniform?
My old cat has really hardened mats all underneath her belly, and other areas and some has actually fallen completely off of her chin & neck area exposing her bare skin so if I try to shave her like you’re doing I was concerned about mosquitoes in my area and then getting bit without her hair being on her? She’s a feisty cat & may not let me shave her. One video suggested using coconut oil to loosen the mats. Any suggestions I would appreciate! Thank You 💖
Whatever you do, this is 28 years of grooming, I run a cat hotel. That means I have groomed the felines exclusive for the last 10 years of my 28 year grooming career. I’m also a second generation groomer. I’m telling you all this because I want you to know how much experience I have when I tell you this next sentence. Whatever you do, do not use coconut oil the Internet is wrong. You will make it worse and I charge double when people do that, I swear to God don’t do it.
@@melissahall2530i believe you about the coconut oil, wouldn't it just solidify and make the mat worse? I've seen people recommend olive oil, I'm assuming it's just as bad?

I brush our 18 year old lady twice a day but only the area's she allows so we are now have to deal with some matting on back legs and chest. I'm always checking her sanitary area, so far, so good. I feel that I will call on my local cat groomer to help with the matts. She does home visits too.
